/gen what is with all these posts recently just shitting on writers? It’s all “you don’t characterize the character right” this, and I don’t like this one particular phrase in writing that. People who like oc characters are LOSERS. Blah blah blah. When did y’all get so negative?? God forbid writers have a little whimsy.

The Drama uses cringe comedy to destroy the perfection of the bourgeois New York couple.
The criticisms of those who find it "watered down" or "unfinished" probably stem from the fact that the film provides no answers. It leaves us in that limbo of embarrassment and terror that is typical of the Norwegian director.
𓍯 summary how theodore nott, mattheo riddle, and lorenzo berkshire would react to you moving into their loft.
𓍯 word count 5k
𓍯 author's note may have gone a little overboard with this one! it was originally supposed to be super short and not anywhere near 5k words... oops! currently on my third new girl rewatch and felt this was necessary
✧┊๑ ₊ ꒷ THEODORE NOTT
𖥻 how he first reacted 𓂃 He did not like the idea of a new roommate, but of course Mattheo insisted that a new roommate was necessary to “even out the rent”—despite the three of them having trust funds much larger than the average person's yearly income. When he found out a girl was going to be their new roommate, he almost considered moving out right then and there.
He wasn’t against you, more against the idea of someone they have never met waltzing into his place of residence. He was skeptical about you; what girl willingly decides to live with three fresh out of Hogwarts boys? You had to be insane, because he couldn’t even fathom living with them on a normal day.
“Dio…” Theo muttered in annoyance as he saw you walk in through the door. In an instant, he sent a death glare towards Mattheo, who was the one to put their place on Craigslist. Mattheo only shot Theo a wide smile. If he didn’t kill Mattheo now, he would kill him later.
You waltzed in with a big smile, undeterred by the fact that the loft was full of three boys. Mattheo had warmly welcomed you in, and you seemed more than happy to meet them. Theo knew that this would only end up in chaos, but begrudgingly sat down at the sofa to meet you.
Looking around, he noticed that the two boys weren’t talking. With a sigh, he spoke up before anyone else. “Why would you choose to live with three guys?”
You responded quickly and seamlessly. “Well, if I’m being honest, I thought you guys were girls. The description of the place sounded like a girl typed it, and you guys never specified that you happen to be boys.”
Theo sent Mattheo another death glare. He could not believe this was his life.
𖥻 when you guys became friends 𓂃 It took a while to warm up to him—actually, a while was an understatement. It took over a month.
It was much harder to get into his good graces than you thought. You got along with Mattheo and Lorenzo much more quickly, but Theodore was more introverted and closed off. Still, you didn’t let that deter you. Within the first two weeks you allowed yourself to call him an acquaintance.
It started off with the little things: brushing your guys’ teeth together (even if he just finished and you just started), passing food across the table to him, catching his eye at a particularly funny scene in the movie everyone was watching. You considered these winning him over, while Mattheo called you silly for even thinking that. But any interaction with Theo was a win.
What officially marked your friendship was when you and Theo were sent to get the groceries for that week, walking down the aisles. You were mindlessly repeating the list over and over again, Theo simply letting you as he pushed the cart. As you walked down the snack aisle, you put all of the chips and cookies the boys demanded you get. The whole time Theo had stayed by the cart, until now.
He reached over you and grabbed some of your favorite chips, the ones that Mattheo always ate too quickly for you to enjoy. You furrowed your eyebrows, looking into the cart. “I already put a bag of that in.” you told him, shifting your gaze up to him. A small smile formed on his face at your confusion.
“Yes you did, but that bag’s for you. Don’t think I don’t notice your face when you go to the cupboards, only to realize that Mattheo ate all of them,” Theo explained, noting your widened eyes and shocked expression. “Now don’t act so shocked. I do notice things, y’know.” A genuine smile took over his face now as he looked down at you.
You were quiet for a second, taking his words in. “I just… didn’t think you paid that much attention to me is all.” He opened his mouth to protest, but you quickly rambled on. “I mean, I’m always the one to start the conversation and such. Honestly, I thought you didn’t like me for a while. I thought I was just annoying you.” you ranted on, Theo staying silent until you finished.
A small chuckle came out of him, and that had you shooting your head up to look at him. “Sorry if you felt that way. I was skeptical at first, yes. Thought it was weird you wanted to live with three guys. But hey, you’re still here.” he smiled down at you, and you finally returned it.
“And I don’t plan on leaving.” you answered, his smile widening slightly.
“Good. And just a tip, hide that bag in your room, or else Mattheo will eat it. He already found my stash of snacks, but I have a feeling he’ll respect your boundaries more than mine.”
You laughed, nodding your head. “Got it. Hide my chips, no one will find them. Not even you.” And at that, you made him laugh for the first time.
𖥻 if you two fell in love 𓂃 Just like becoming friends, it would be a slow and soft process. What was once sitting on opposite sofas during movie night and turned to sitting together, which in turn turned to sitting next to each other at the table. The soft brushes of your shoulders or fingers would have you two up for days—despite having rooms across from each other.
Theo could never have imagined someone he was first against would become the highlight of the day. Brushing your teeth together (feet angled at each other) was something he actually enjoyed looking forward to. Quite shocking, honestly.
Mattheo and Enzo caught on pretty quick to the change in dynamic. They tried to put together situations in which you two would spend time together, hoping that one or the other would confess. All of a sudden you two were on grocery duty every week and were tasked with making potions they were running out of (Mattheo said it was because you two were the best at it).
However, in all of these situations you guys ended up in, neither confessed. Much to their dismay.
You just didn’t think Theo would think of you like that. In your head, he didn’t seem like the romantic type. It would be a stretch if he liked you in that way, considering how long it took for you guys to become friends. And Theo didn’t think you would ever even consider him in a romantic way with the way you two were total opposites. You were bubbly and outgoing, while he was quiet and reserved. But they say opposites attract.
It all started at a mutual friend’s get-together. How you all went seven years at Hogwarts and never knew each other was a shock. Especially since you all were friends with Pansy Parkinson. Scratch that, you and Pansy were best friends, and yet you never knew of the three boys you lived with.
After a long night of drinking and mingling around, you were quite tired. Luckily, Pansy didn’t live far from your loft. You informed the boys you were heading out, and surprise, Theo quickly offered to come with you. Something about not letting a lady walk around alone at night.
It was a quiet walk, neither of you saying much. The cool London air sent a shiver through you, and you deeply regretted not bringing a jacket. Cursing under your breath, your arms instinctively hugged yourself. That was until you felt a weight suddenly drop on your shoulders, Theo’s scent engulfing you. You looked up, shocked to see that his jacket was now around your shoulders. “Aren’t you going to be cold?” you asked, worrying about himself more than you.
He simply shrugged, a soft smile on his face. “I would rather you be warm and me shivering.” he answered, a pink blush spreading across his cheeks. He hoped you couldn’t see it in the dark night.
“Oh!” You felt your body heat up from his simple words, as if it was normal for him to just drape his jacket around you. Which it wasn’t. He’s never done this before.
Another silence passed through you guys, the air light but filled with unspoken words. You cleared your throat, trying to find something that would initiate a conversation. “Pansy’s thing was fun, huh? It was nice seeing people from school.” you asked him, looking up at him. He simply hummed and nodded, opening his mouth to say something when all of a sudden something scurried past them.
You yelped, instinctively grabbing Theo’s hand and moving closer to him. You didn’t even realize you did it, but Theo definitely did. He tensed on the spot, his breath hitching at the sudden contact. He looked down at you, noting the way your eyes didn’t leave the spot where the thing was. He let out a low chuckle, wrapping his fingers around yours. “Just an alley cat. Nothing to worry about.” he murmured, his eyes locked on you.
You averted your eyes from the spot, slightly calming down. You let out a sigh of relief, and then it hit you. Your fingers were intertwined. You nervously looked up, seeing Theo’s reassuring smile. You two were so close that you could see the pink tinge in his cheeks, how you adored the sight. You snapped out of it, quickly removing yourself from him.
“I’m sorry! I just freaked out, didn’t mean to grab you!” you explained quickly. You were rambling for what seemed like a while until you finally took in the smile on his face, not registering that he was closing the distance between you two.
“S’alright,” he grabbed your hand and started walking, “I can be your knight and shining armor tonight.” he teased, looking down at you with a smile.
You couldn’t seem to form words, letting him guide you through the night. After a minute you finally regained your thoughts, a soft smile forming on your face as you intertwined your fingers.
The quiet night was the start of your relationship, and the start of endless teasing from Mattheo and Enzo.
✧┊๑ ₊ ꒷ LORENZO BERKSHIRE
𖥻 how he first reacted 𓂃 Lorenzo was nice to you right off the bat. He was the one who made you feel right at home, making sure that you were as comfortable as possible. In all honesty, he was all for the idea. He thought that you would calm Mattheo’s antics down a bit.
But he had to admit that the idea of getting another roommate was ridiculous, but who was he to complain? They had one extra room that was rendered useless, and it’s not like the new roommate could be that bad… right?
He wasn’t even deterred by the fact that you were a girl. In fact, you seemed like you would be good for them, with the way your eyes lit up when you saw the loft. You just kept that big smile on your face as your eyes scanned the three of them, seemingly softening at Enzo’s face. He was told he had a welcoming face.
After Theo’s question that came out rather rude, Enzo sighed and shook his head. “Sorry about him, he’s a big ol’ grump,” he teased with a smile, nudging Theo’s shoulder. He received a sharp glare from Theo. “I’m Lorenzo, but call me Enzo.” he introduced, reaching out to shake his hand with yours. Mattheo furrowed his brows and quickly scrambled up from where he was slouching on the couch to introduce himself, and Theo only rolled his eyes but begrudgingly said his name.
You told them your name, all of them repeating it in a different way. Your eyes kept finding Enzo’s, noting the reassuring smile on his face as you guys talked.
To say he was excited to get to know you was an understatement. He could tell you two would get along well.
𖥻 when you guys became friends 𓂃 You two became friends quite literally the day of. You and Enzo clicked like you two had been friends for ages. Bonding over the same books, listing different cuisines you two liked—the list of things you guys had in common was endless. It was only natural when he became your closest companion in the loft.
He helped you decorate your room by reaching the places you couldn’t reach, rearranging the heavier furniture that required two people, even going as far as buying you some nice flowers to mark you officially moved in. It warmed your heart that he was being so inclusive to someone he had just met.
It seemed like he knew you inside and out; if you had a bad day he would be at your door immediately, paired with one of your favorite blankets and your favorite snacks. He would get you out of your room and take you to the living room, putting on your favorite movie that you’ve only mentioned once before.
“How’d you know I like this one?” you asked, looking up at him from the other end of the sofa where you were hogging the blanket. He just shrugged his shoulders with an air of nonchalance.
“You’ve mentioned it before. Specifically when you met us and Mattheo was asking about what movies you liked, what foods you liked, things like that.” You furrowed your brows at his words, not quite remembering clearly. Enzo raised his eyebrows, nudging his knee against yours. “When he was interrogating you because we needed ‘the perfect roommate’? Remember?”
The realization clicked immediately after his words, your eyebrows still furrowed in suspicion but a small smile on your face. “You remembered that?” you asked and he nodded. “That was like, a month ago. My memory doesn’t go that far.” you joked, moving from your spot on the end of the sofa to him, leaning your head against his shoulder.
He smiled, looking down at you. “‘Course I did, I remember everything about everyone. That’s why I got you,” he poked the bag of chips you were eating, “these. I know they’re your favorite.”
You looked down at the bag of chips that were currently in your hands, not even noticing that they were, in fact, your favorite. Something warm fluttered in your chest, but you chose to ignore it for now. You smiled even wider, looking up at him. “Thanks, Enz.”
“No problem. Now, let’s see what’s so good about this movie.”
“Everything! Don’t hate, it doesn’t look good on you.”
𖥻 if you two fell in love 𓂃 The thing about you two was that everybody already thought that you guys were dating. You did all the things couples would do, like cuddling during a movie or cooking together. Mattheo and Theo ask almost every week if you two are dating yet, because it just seems like you guys are!
It doesn’t help that Lorenzo buys you flowers every week for no apparent reason, has a stash of your favorite snacks in his room, and follows you around like a little puppy. Literally. If you fell off the face of the earth, he would follow you.
It went so far to the point that if you were out with your friends, he would constantly check the time to see if you would be back soon. If you showed up a minute later than the time you said you would be back, he freaked out. Full blown thinking you died or something. Theo had to calm him down several times while Mattheo laughed his ass off.
The two of them were sick of watching you two run around like the lovesick idiots you are, so they hatched a plan: get you two alone and hope one or the other would confess.
So, they abruptly stated one night while you two were about to start cooking dinner for everyone that they were off to a pub. You knew that they were planning something with the way they left quickly and without another word, but didn’t think much of it.
“Looks like it’s just us tonight,” Enzo started, taking out some new ingredients. “We can finally make something that we like. Don’t have to accommodate for those two.”
You giggled at his words, knowing just how fussy and picky Mattheo and Theo were about their food. “Perfect! I’ve been craving tacos lately,” you said. Enzo narrowed his eyes at your words. “Well, I know they like tacos. They just eat so much and I don’t feel like making eight for each of them.” you replied with a grin, causing Enzo to chuckle.
“I guess you’re right. They do eat enough to feed a large family, Mattheo especially.” You laughed at his words, starting to soak the beans.
You two worked with a practiced ease, light banter and laughter filling the air. While you two have cooked together countless times, it has always been around Theo and Mattheo who would chime in from time to time. But now, it was just you and Enzo, and it felt like the air was lighter and filled the lingering feeling of something you two wouldn’t acknowledge.
As you were setting up your tacos, you noticed a pair of eyes on you. You looked up, making eye contact with Enzo from across the island. You raised your eyebrows as he smiled, not even ashamed of getting caught staring.
“What?” you asked, finishing up your tacos. “Is my taco technique wrong? Do they look horrifying?” you joked, causing Enzo to burst out laughing.
“No, no, they look fine,” he replied, his eyes not leaving yours. “I just… I could get used to this. Us, cooking here. Together. Without Theo and Mattheo.” he rambled, the words leaving his mouth in a nervous jumble. It warmed your heart, a smile spreading onto your face.
“Yeah, I could too. It’s much more peaceful without them making comments about us and our cooking. Even though we’re the ones feeding them.” you said quietly, feeling the air shift. You two stayed rooted in your spots, not crossing the barrier of the island between you two.
“Mhm. They should go out more, I enjoy the quiet.” he spoke softly, his eyes filled with so much emotion.
You hummed, nodding your head. After a few moments of silence you finally spoke up, holding your plate of tacos. “Shall we eat?”
Enzo chuckled, nodding his head as he picked up his plate. “We shall.” he replied, following you to the table.
The rest of the night was filled with soft chatter and shared laughter. It felt more intimate than all of your other times together, and it definitely brought out emotions the two of you were holding back.
It wouldn’t be a perfect night without ending it with a movie, the two of you falling asleep on the sofa midway. And when Mattheo teased you two about it the next morning, neither of you argued back when he said you guys acted like an old, married couple. It made Enzo’s hold on you tighten, marking a new beginning in your relationship.
✧┊๑ ₊ ꒷ MATTHEO RIDDLE
𖥻 how he first reacted 𓂃 It was Mattheo’s idea to get a new roommate, and he was the only who knew that you were a girl when you reached out to him. He just thought it would be funny to see Enzo and Theo’s reactions.
He figured you weren’t going to move in when you realized it was a loft full of three boys and no girls. What girl would want to live with three guys, especially those that had a reputation at Hogwarts? It made no sense in his head, yet he entertained it.
He expected a look of shock on your face when you walked in, even a look of disgust or you just straight up saying you wanted to leave. He was the one with the look of shock when you walked in all happily, genuinely excited to meet the boys.
He slouched on the couch as you talked to them, half listening to your words. At this point he still assumed you were going to continue looking for different places… but then Enzo had to go and make you feel welcome. So he decided it was his turn to pipe up.
“So…” he repeated your name, “what do you like to do? What kind of movies do you like? Would you redecorate our beautiful loft to adjust it to your preferences?” he fired rapidly, testing you. Enzo rolled his eyes at Mattheo’s questioning, but didn’t say anything about it.
As if it was nothing, all of your answers satisfied him. He was impressed with your taste in movies, assuming that because you’re a girl you would only like romcoms. He was rather pleased when you listed not only romcoms, but other genres as well.
He was also enlightened by the fact you wouldn’t change their loft.
All in all, Mattheo thought you were okay. It would take some getting used to with a girl in their all boys apartment, but he could make it work. For you.
𖥻 when you guys became friends 𓂃 Mattheo was much more easy to become friends with compared to Theo. While he tried to intimidate you for no reason, it never worked. You knew that beneath his “intimidating exterior” that he was a really funny and exciting guy. You’ve heard stories about him at bars and Hogwarts from Enzo, making you wonder how you missed him all your seven years attending the same school as them. Being in a different house and focusing on your studies must have played a role.
He tries to intimidate you by acting much scarier than he is. Cornering you against the counter, acting nonchalant around you—it never works. In fact, it just makes you hold your laughter in knowing he’s trying to be someone he isn’t.
You have been a victim of some of his pranks, mostly those that involved switching things around that you were very particular about or hiding some of your stuff that laid out in the open. Occasionally he would throw a little bouncy ball at you, just to tick you off. Never anything too drastic like he was with Theo and Enzo, but just enough to get on your nerves.
You decided to retaliate one day. Go into his room while he was out one day, scope the scene, and then figure out how to prank him. It seemed easy enough, right?
Wrong. As you were lurking around his room, trying to find something that he would surely miss, he caught you. You were rummaging through his closet, the sound of his voice sending you into a frozen shock.
“Darling, if you wanted to come to my room you should’ve just said so.” he teased slowly.
You mumbled a curse under your breath, turning around to face him. There he was, leaning against the doorway as he watched you, an amused smirk on his face.
You wanted the ground to swallow you whole in that moment.
“I was… uh…” you stammered, trying to find an excuse for this. Mattheo only chuckled and walked into the room, eyes locked on yours.
“Trying to get back at me for hiding your stuff?” he finished for you, raising his eyebrows. You cowered into yourself a little, not quite meeting his eyes.
“Something like that…” you mumbled, rocking back and forth on your heels. His smirk only widened, enjoying the sight of you flustered.
“Don’t worry. I’m not mad. Just surprised, that's all,” he paused for a moment, looking around his room. “Looks like you did nothing at all. Pro tip, just go with the first thing you see. Less chance of getting caught.” he teased, winking at you.
You furrowed your eyebrows, looking up at him finally. “But you always manage to hide the things I need the most! How do you know?”
Mattheo just shrugged, his smirk slowly shrinking. “I pay attention. That’s also key.” he responded, stuffing his hands in his pants pockets. He leaned in a tad bit closer, bending his head slightly towards yours. “Paying attention is the key to becoming a master prankster like me.”
You raised your eyebrows, watching him closely. It was easy to be suspicious of Mattheo Riddle, with his quick words and laid back demeanor. So you didn’t quite know if he was telling the truth or playing a little game.
“Right. Pay attention,” you hummed, nodding your head. “Well, I guess I’ll be off then. Better watch your next move, because I will get you back!” you threatened, pointing a finger at him.
He chuckled, watching you walk away from him. “Will do, love.”
When you finally left the room, he turned his head to his closet. He took a few steps closer to it, a smile rising on his face at something he noticed.
You took the little bouncy ball he threw at you often. How he didn’t see it in the palm of your hand, he didn’t know.
𖥻 if you two fell in love 𓂃 Mattheo knew he was fucked the moment he saw you in his room for the first time. He knew he was royally screwed when you slowly started pranking him, hiding his stuff and now throwing the bouncy ball at him any chance you got.
You were very good at denying your feelings for him, convincing yourself you only thought of him as a friend. But you couldn’t help the flutter in your chest when he joked around you and teased you relentlessly.
It also didn’t help that he acted somewhat… softer around you. You noticed how he grew quieter around you, keeping his eyes solely locked on yours, and that he wasn’t as rowdy as he was with Enzo and Theo.
You decided that you wanted to do something about it. The lingering tension between you two was driving you crazy, causing you to be on the phone with Pansy almost everyday. Her advice stayed the same: “Just kiss him! Obviously he’ll enjoy it.”
She was insane for that idea.
On one of your weekly night outs with your roommates, you all went to a local pub. You all sat in a circle booth, you and Mattheo right next to each other. Each time your knees bumped it made your heart skip a tiny beat.
As Enzo and Theo got up to get drinks for the four of you, you turned to Mattheo. “So, am I gonna see this wild Mattheo that Enzo keeps talking about?” you teased, resting your chin in your palm.
He rolled his eyes, a smirk on his face. “Wild Mattheo was in the past. Now, it’s calm Mattheo.” he responded, looking down at you. He noticed your frown at his words and tilted his head, furrowing his eyebrows. He opened his mouth to say something, but you beat him.
“You don’t have to change yourself just because I’m around, y’know,” you started, keeping your eyes on his. “You can be raw, unfiltered Mattheo Riddle. Don’t hide your personality just because I’m a girl.”
His throat bobbed, definitely not expecting those words from you. He stayed silent for a while, never having heard those words before. Once he composed himself he nodded slowly, a small smile on his lips. “Alright. But I warned you.”
You smiled at his words, straightening up in your seat. “Can’t wait.”
He did warn you, but you never expected what would happen. All of a sudden Mattheo was buying drinks for almost everybody, dragging you and the boys to dance (Theo refused), and causing an overall ruckus.
It was fun until all four of you were kicked out because of a very drunk Mattheo.
On the walk home, you fell behind the rest of the group. You watched as all three of them talked amongst each other, laughing, and feeling free for the first time in a while. It put a smile on your face, seeing them all finally act like themselves.
Mattheo turned around, noticing you lagging behind. He suddenly stopped, waiting for you to catch up as he raised an eyebrow. As you finally caught up to him, he nudged your shoulder. “Why’re you so far behind? Can’t have my favorite girl getting snatched up.” he spoke with his signature smirk, not knowing his words affected you greatly.
It took a few seconds for you to compose yourself, but when you did you walked alongside him. “Favorite girl?” you questioned, looking up at him.
“Mhm,” he hummed, “don’t act like you don’t know it. I know I haven’t been the most subtle around you.” he confessed, the alcohol definitely making him more confident in his words.
“I don't know…” you teased, a smile rising on your face. This is the moment where something would finally happen, you hoped. Even though both of you had alcohol in your system, there was no doubting it let some thoughts spill. “I’m pretty oblivious to these things.” you joked.
Mattheo suddenly stopped in his tracks, causing you to stop as well. You tilted your head in question, furrowing your eyebrows.
“Then allow me to demonstrate.” he spoke quickly, not even letting you register the way he quickly advanced towards you. In an instant, his lips were on yours. His hand threaded through your hair, his other on your waist, pulling you impossibly closer.
You gasped at the contact, not expecting the night to go about this way. It took you a second to regain yourself, before you kissed him back with as much fervor, your hands tugging at his hair. You could feel him smile into the kiss, his hold on you softening.
You two were rudely interrupted by Theo wolf-whistling and Enzo hooting in approval. You quickly pulled away, your face heating up at the interruption. Mattheo only shot a death glare at the two, before he looked down at you with a smile.
“Does that explain things better?” he asked quietly.
“Definitely.” you replied, a smile staying on your face for the rest of the night.
hiiii beautiful have you got any thoughts to spare on theo with a hufflepuff gf
۫ THOUGHTS ON THEODORE NOTT WITH A HUFFLEPUFF!GF’ 𓆸
note: thank you so much for asking babe because second to ravenclaw, theodore would rock with a hufflepuff girlfriend so bad. the best part it's that it'd be super unexpected! both to theo and his friends.
for starters, even if hufflepuff!reader isn't a brilliant student or has the same intellectual interests as theodore, he'd be attracted to his girlfriend being hardworking. studying is important for theodore — it's his ticket to get in his father's good graces, which means, remaining in christian's negligence, allowing theodore to stay at hogwarts with the excuse of keeping good grades. so really, it's fine if she's not a top student or eager to learn like ravenclaws; her hardworking nature means a lot.
especially because, well, it means she does her best on every assignment and exam. it can also translate into studying together, be it in their common rooms, the castle's library or even their dorms, if it's exam seasons and everywhere else is packed — worse, noisy beyond comprehension.
theodore would also be fine with helping her on subjects he excels at. theodore would be remarkably patient, too: "no, tesoro, that's not it. it's a good association, but you're confuding this concept with this one. it's okay—brava ragazza, you're getting it."
speaking of subjects, a hufflepuff girlfriend would do wonders with him, something like opposites attracting. theodore is, funny enough, terrible at herbology; give him arithmancy, potions, any sort of exact science: he'll excel at it. but subjects based on magical plants and temperamental creatures? theodore raises an annoyed eyebrow every time he's told to be patient, to handle things with care, because it depends. the fuck it does.
the issue with herbology, after it becomes an optional class instead of a requirement in previous years, is that students are encouraged to find their own ingredients for potion classes. after their second year at hogwarts, students no longer are supplied with the school's resources; if you need wolfsbane, dittany or even a mandrake, then students are old and knowledgeable enough to garden their own. obviously, theodore prefers to spend his generous allowance in stores and shops at hogsmeade, although that requires constant trips during his weekends. a waste of time!
naturally, a hufflepuff girlfriend changes this inconvenience. at first, she'd try to help theodore improving his gardening skills — when it results in theodore huffing and dragging his tongue along his inner cheek, like mattheo when he's this close to combust, they reach an agreement: theodore gets her potions homeworks done, and she gardens extra materials for him. she gets her scores higher and theodore no longer has to embarrassingly buy supplies at hogsmeade.
because hufflepuffs are known for their patience, i think that theodore would benefit from someone who doesn't make him feel guilty about his unhealthy coping mechanisms, hence why he'd accept her help as she coaxes him into less damaging habits. it'd also be funny to have theodore, a smoker, mingling with hufflepuffs — who definitely supply certain herbs, if you know what i mean, due to their common room being the one who gets the most sunlight and has a lot of coverage to garden something suspicious. besides, it's pretty genius, he'd have to admit.
not to mention that theodore would, yes, without a doubt, get closer with other houses and his girlfriend's roommates. the huffepuff house was created by helga, the most inclusive witch who defended that no matter their origin, students have the right to learn magic — of course, hufflepuffs are more open-minded and take initiative into befriending other houses. besides, her friends would quickly take theodore as their own... urging theo in for some gossip.
pansy kept trying to bring theodore's attention back to the slytherin dining table, his azure eyes helplessly following his girlfriend's laughter as her roommate retells the incident during her defense against the dark arts' class. at this point, parkinson was huffing; even lorenzo didn't know about this gossip! to which theodore, with a shrug, responds: "magnolia already told me about it. my girl's roommate, you know? had to sit through all the details while she got ready for our date. you forgot to mention that pucey over there was the one that started, not that bloke from gryffindor."
it's a bit of a hassle sometimes, because his girl is so talkative. not that theodore dislikes hearing her — no, he listens through and through, balancing their intertwined feelings slowly as she gesticulates with her other hand. theodore appreciates her company, through every smoking break he takes, previously alone, now a little warmer with her company — but he'd live without her stopping to chat with someone she knows. it's pretty sweet that she never passes by without greeting, even asking thoughtful things he'd never remember, like: "how's your brother? i heard he got hurt on last week's quidditch match," or even: "ah, i saw your cat wandering around this morning. gave him a few biscuits. do you need something for them? i'll be in hogsmeade today, so i can buy it for you."
more often than not, theodore has to stand behind her, staring blankly at the person she's speaking to — and hoping that his stare conveys that he's in a hurry. to be alone with his girlfriend. so please, pretend you're busy. fuck off, as politely as possible.
hufflepuff girlfriend is so his dolcezza. there's a plentitude of italian endearments he could use with her, but there's nothing more fitting than addressing her sweetness.
and curiously! the idea of theodore facing insomnia with hufflepuff girlfriend brings very interesting scenarios, too. for one, theodore opens her to the world of astronomy: date nights would become a thing, cuddling with a thick blanket around them as she sits between his legs, so theo can keep an arm around her front as he points to different constellations.
on the other hand, there would also be a lot of theodore following her throughout her midnight adventures. hufflepuff girlfriend is respectful of most rules, as long as they make a lot of sense. otherwise, well, bypassing curfew doesn't really hurt anyone, right? sometimes, as she explained to theodore once, there are certain phenomenos and creatures she can only meet at night.
theodore had to admit that his opinions about beasts class changed after she arranged a date for them. mysterious on their way out of hogwarts grounds into the forest and green valleys at night, she hurried him to lay on the ground amidst the bushes, and there, theodore saw something only briefly described in books: mooncalves, shy creatures that they are, emerging from their burrows to dance in the moonlight.
after that, theodore was much more easily persuaded to join her pursue of magical creatures. well, he was initially motivated by worry: what if his dolcezza got hurt by a magical beast, got lost, or something happened to her? now, theodore is even curious and interested about where she's going now, which creature she adamantly needs to meet tonight or earlier in the mornings.
i could also see hufflepuff girlfriend and theodore bonding even more due to thestrals. theodore can see them from his first year at hogwarts, given that phoena died in his arms. the fact that both of them can see that eerie magical creature would coax theodore to share something so intimately his, in the depths of his reserved nature, with her.
to finish off these headcanons, their common rooms would also be a big thing between theodore and hufflepuff girlfriend.
theodore wouldn't trade slytherin for any other house, even though ravenclaw would make him feel closer to his mother and his geographically easier to get to the astronomy tower any time he wants. even so, the dungeons are chilly — as comforting as they became for him — and especially damp during the colder months. the hufflepuff dorm became a close second in theodore's personal ranking, when he accidentally fell asleep with his head on hufflepuff girlfriend's lap.
the common room is cozy, the warmest due to the stained glass of the ceiling, where the sunlight shines through and the warmth gets stuck even at night. whenever theodore has a sleepless night and needs some rest, his dolcezza happily offers her thighs while getting some reading done, while theodore sleeps through her caresses on her hair and the comfort that her house's common room supplies.
on the other hand, the dungeons are a marvelous thing when late spring and summer arrive. he and his girlfriend do this exchange depending on the seasons, spending most of their time in the other's common room depending on what the weather dictates. because the dungeons are chilly, being on the lowest level of the castle and beneath the black lake's surface, it's a welcome chilly ambience in comparison to the burning heat outside.
