Looking at the… 8 different versions of Mind Games (1973) currently available on Spotify.com got me thinking of the George Harrison estate.

I completely understand wanting to let things just be and respect George’s wishes (especially since he has passed in many even young people’s lifetimes). But can we get like… something… anything???

There are currently 5 things released after his passing on Spotify! FIVE. Only ATMP and LITMW have available demos and outtakes. Only them are even REMASTERED. I think a lot of his discography suffers from alienating or badly-aged production and while I’m not advocating for a let it be naked situation I think they deserve at least some attention.

From the top of my head I would assume there would be a lot of very cheery and less 80s sounding than the original demos from hit album Cloud Nine. And what about an original version of Somewhere in England? Like how George originally wanted it before the executives got involved. Wouldn’t that be a very logical thing to make??? (Also please someone get on Gone Troppo so I can actually hear him sing PLEASE)

It just saddens me how little attention his solo career has not just from the public but from the estate as well.

Also give us early takes vol 2 aka the Bob Dylan cover album. I KNOW you have the material for it.

What are your feelings about Down South?

Im not a big enjoyer of Paul’s more current stuff, haha. The songs of his I like end by around 1993. I’m a big grouch about vocals (like, I didn’t even like some things off ATMP cuz the vocals weren’t perfect) so peepaaw Paul is hard to listen to for me.

That being said since it’s the year of mcharrison (#yearofmcharrison) I checked it out and it’s SO CUTE!!! I like the feel that it could be a diddy little Paul and George could’ve written on the road. The lyrics are adorable. I like ‘and find a way to work it all out’. Hints at a more complex relationship while focusing on the more sunny memories.

That being said it’s kind of disappointing to me because well… it’s the road trip story. Again. I feel like Paul REALLY likes that one. So much it’s one of the only story he really tells (aside from the hand-holding). In general as a George girl it’s a bit annoying that in current times where Paul is main storyteller George is once again put into the little brother role because that’s how Paul wants to remember him. I remember how in some interview about his photography exhibition he was basically like ‘John was a great artist, I’m so thankful to have worked with him’ while for George he was like ‘what a handsome fella, remember him as a kid’. But that’s how that old man is grieving so as much as I’m peeved by it he is well within his right to do whatever he pleases. Maybe it’s correct to not publicise the complexities for privacy.

But yeah, cute song!
