Ideas to speed up rendering with Solidworks 2020
Improvements in drawings, assemblies and simulation help you significantly speed up the design of large assemblies and validation analyses. You can now open large drawings in just seconds and get real-time display with Detailing mode and Graphics acceleration for drawings. Improve design speed with the new Envelope Publisher and shorten time to solve with Hybrid Mesh.
SOLIDWORKS Visualize Standard is free with SolidWorks professional and premium subscription.
SOLIDWORKS Visualize Professional is extra cost for animation for 3d data.
Speed in Visualize can be increased by using NVIDIA GPU CUDA Cores compared to CPU Cores. AMD Graphics card will not accelerate so you have only one option CPU Cores
Solidworks Visualize AI denoiser in Versions 2018SP3 is supported in NVIDIA Graphics with 4GB. This can reduce the number of passes required to eliminate noose/artefacts in the render by 10 times. Instead of 1000 passes you require 100 using denoiser support on NVIDIA 4GB
There is significant acceleration with Nvidia Quadro P2000 5GB but for large assemblies you need more graphics power.
Project render at 1920X1800 for 500passes the CPU mode without graphics card
Graphics cards such as P5000 16GB GDDR5X has 2560 Cores, P6000 24 GB GDDR5X has 3840 Cores are useful for very complex scenes. If you have two graphics cards with different graohics memory then the smallest is limiting factor.
For Photoview 360 rendering need to have Open GL capable Graphics. Don’t use onboard graphics in servers, Use at least lower end quadro or AMD Firepro Cards.
Simulations using direct sparse solver use multiple cores.
Soildworks Stimulation – Multi Threaded
MESHING: From SOLIDWORKS 2011 the curvature based mesher use multiple cores whereas standard mesh is single threaded.
STATIC STIMULATION – ASSEMBLIES AND PARTS
A static stimulation of an assembly with bolt connectors sees 75% improvement in solve time from 1 core to 4 cores using direct sparse solver and Large problem direct sparse solver. Using FFEPlus Solver only benefit 15%.
Multi core CPU Using direct sparse solver, the computationally intensive stages of analysis are decompose of stiffness matrix and solving contact constraints.
Non Linear Simulation: Single Part Yield 60% improvement using direct sparse solve
Thermal Simulation: Single Part Yield 80% improvement using direct sparse solve
Soildworks Simulation Single Threaded:
Fatigue: The fatigue Solver itself uses only one core in testing.
Frequency: FEE solver shows 25% improvement
Optimization: By running loops of design iterations
Linear Dynamic: Dynamic analysis and stress Calculations use solvers used only one core
Pressure value design: Actual calculation for combination of results used only one core.
Solid Plastics: Good improvement in all the process by increasing cores
Flow Simulation: Complex Flow Simulation problems with a large cell count show more benefit from more than 8 core counts
When any one try to choose a workstation to run SOLIDWORKS ,there are four main areas of hardware to look at.The Processor,RAM,Graphics card and Hard drive. Global Nettech provides SOLIDWORK hardware recommendations for selecting the right workstations for your requirements.
