“Hi.” Gloria replied simply, not really sure where to start. The entire thing was a mess and she hadn’t realized how used and abused she was until Clare had figured the entire thing out. She finally decided it was better to just pull it off like a bandaid. “So the manager thing is complicated, but umm I am suing him to get out of my contract with my main reasoning being sexual abuse of a minor.” She replied, trying to explain things without breaking into tears this time.

Gloria dreaded explaining herself to other girl, but Arlene deserved answers as to why she had left with no explanation. Ever since she had fully realized how messed up everything was with her manager, Gloria had felt herself pulling away from Arlene. The other girl had gotten too close and it scared her. She picked up her phone and hit the call button, waiting for the other girl to answer.

Arlene: what are you talking about?

Gloria: I'll call you.

Arlene: then it's not just about toronto being the problem.

Arlene: probably will be what i do.

Gloria: Yeah no.

Gloria: I have to take my manager to court.

Gloria: Among other things.

Gloria: I couldn't deal.

Arlene: doesn't mean it still doesn't hurt.

Arlene: i'll probably end up going to hunter's. staying in a big house by myself doesn't make me feel comfortable.

Gloria: If I explained, it would hurt more.

Gloria: Trust.

Gloria: Yeah that's fine, if that's what you want to do. Go for it.

Arlene: how am i not supposed to take it personally?

Arlene: right. have fun i guess.

Gloria: Because it's not you. It's Toronto.

Gloria: I can't really explain it over text.

Arlene: so that's it then?

Arlene: no spending time together this summer?

Arlene: but thanks.

Gloria: Don't take it personally.

Gloria: I have some stuff I've got to deal with.

Gloria: It's the least I can do.

Gloria: I sort of peaced out to Greece with Fiona.

Gloria: I needed a break out of the city.

Gloria: But feel free to use my house for as long as you need. 😘

“But is your father a good lawyer?” Gloria asked kind of curious if the man was anything like Clare. Either way, Clare Edwards was proving to be a far greater person than she was. Gloria had done everything in her own power but it had only made things worse. “But is your dad going to think I am a moron? I don’t know if I can stand anyone else thinking I am a moron right now.”

“I mean, doesn’t it though? I mean from a legal sense.” Gloria asked, not really sure how the entire thing would work. Clare was right. She is a kid, a stupid kid that let herself get in way over her head. She just allowed herself to continue crying, not really sure what else to say or do at this point.

Not the people who get used.” Gloria added, more tears running down her face. “But I mean, I should have known better, right? I feel so fucking stupid.”

“Yeah, I’ve known the Coynes for years.” Gloria replied with a nod. “But they can never fucking know about this. They’ll think I am such a stupid loser.” She added, not wanting the Coynes to think less of her. She knew that their family was like, because she’d spend a million hours running around in the same social circles.

“Well, if I do anything he will fucking end me. I’ll be done, my career will be over.” Gloria added, knowing her manager had a lot of power and pull in the entertainment industry. “Like I should feel lucky right, that I even got this far.” She added, shrugging at Clare’s words. “I feel like even the best lawyer couldn’t get him put into jail.”

“Okay, but you saw nothing,” Aurora turned to see that somebody caught a glimpse of her spiking the punch with a tiny bottle of liquor. “I promise, this is the good stuff going in it. I’m just trying to make everyone’s night a little better,” she tried to defend herself. The last thing she wanted was the possibility of getting booted out of prom early before she could even see who won the court.

“Your secret is safe with me.”  Gloria replied with a wink. “The way I see it, prom would be pretty boring if someone didn’t spike the punch. It’s better you than me, because getting kicked out of here isn’t my plan.” She added with a shrug. Although, in reality Gloria didn’t care about prom for much more than the fact it would cause some drama. “Besides, I am never one to turn down free liquor.”

Gloria allowed Clare to comfort her, and let into the rocking. She was surprised that the girl was being so kind to her because she really didn’t deserve it. “There isn’t really anything that can be done, Clare.” She added, wiping tears from her face. “I am under a contract, so I am stuck dealing with him. I fucked up, and that’s on me.”

When Clare pulled her closer Gloria allowed it to happen. She was tired of pretending that her life was perfect and that she was fine. If anything, the fact that the only person willing to come see her was someone she had treated like garbage, proved that Gloria didn’t have a lot of real friends. Instead she was mostly surrounded by people who wanted something from her. Yet, here Clare was after all she had done to her was be a bitch and try to prove something. “But I’m a bitch so I deserve it, right? Like it’s some great karma sent from your God because I am a shitty person.”
