▌ sidestory: caribbean bay ad shooting
four public figures from jincheon have been chosen to shoot an ad for caribbean bay. this ad will be aired during commercial spots on national tv and displayed on caribbean bay's website. the ad involves two main characters and two side characters, and will be shot alongside a handful of extras. the ad features a lifeguard training camp taking place in caribbean bay, focusing on MC1 and MC2 as they navigate the rough waters of a mutual crush, and eventually find love during their stay at the water park. everyone wears white tops and red shorts provided by production for the water training scenes. everyone is expected to bring their own clubbing attire for the party scene. the san juan bar and restaurant will be closed on march 28 for shooting.
main character 1 (male, hall of fame subplot): through the course of their training in different parts of the water park, MC1 and MC2 constantly steal glances at each other. they refuse to talk, which builds up frustration, and ends with an altercation in the locker room, where MC2 rolls her eyes at MC1 before leaving the room. later, at night, they have a heart-to-heart by the pool. at the end of the commercial, they're seen dancing together at the san juan bar and restaurant during a party, having finally reconciled. MC1 is required to attend shooting on march 27 and 28 2, starting at 6 am and ending at 11 pm.

MC2 is required to attend shooting on march 27 and 28, starting at 6 am and ending at 11 pm.

park chaeyoung (rosé), twenty7, cis female, she/her. ─── 3, 2, 1 — action! everyone, we’re here at jincheon national training center, and this time i have with me our national tennis team’s very own kim heiran. you might know them for winning an olympic gold medal at the age of 15, but if not, don’t worry. they’re here to field all your burning questions. let’s dive right in.
thanks for joining us today. so, tell me…
how does it feel to have been selected for the national team?
the slight crinkle of her nose that follows a shy yet genuine smile. it's the first of many in a long time as she recalls the very moment she was awarded with news that proved her excellence in the sport of tennis. "oh my... where do i even start?" a slight titter follows as she conjures up what could best describe the wave of emotions that washed over her that day. "i would say it's an honor, even above that to have been chosen to represent my country on the national team. it's an overwhelming sense of pride i have to know that there is potential seen in me from the best athletes out there." heiran beams as she spoke, the twinkle in her eyes shown as she looks up -- still feeling as though she was still some kind of dream-like state that she didn't want to wake up from.
what message would you like to send to your fans and supporters as you represent the country on the national team?
"thank you." heiran starts with a small nod. "truly from the bottom of my heart. i honestly believe if it wasn't for the massive amount of support and kind words from those who believed in me from when i started at such an adolescent age i would not be where i am today. i hope that you will continue to support me in my journey and i will continue to work hard to make you proud in ever match and endeavor i face from now and in the future."
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
of course this topic would come up. heiran smile falters in the slightest -- barely noticeable as she keeps her composure. "rumors... not sure what rumors there are about me?" her words are chosen carefully. were there even rumors circling around about her and she was too busy to notice. she was sure that her family would brush those under the rug if it got out of hand or could this be about her sibling? even then she wasn't involved in that scandal other than the fact that she threaten to walk if they were to get kicked. "i can't shed light on something i'm not aware of, but what i can say is that i don't particularly pay attention to words written behind an anonymous source. i believe me and my fellow athletes on this team have better things to focus on at this moment in time."
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
how do you stay focused on your training amidst the distractions caused by 105fm?
a chortle follows as she shakes her head. "it's quite simple, when you're doing something you love and appreciate things around becomes a blur. so, when i'm on the court whether it's practicing for a match, a tournament, even the olympics... there's nothing i'm worried about but becoming better in honing my skills. if i'm distracted that only allows me room for mistakes to happen, which is something i can't allow to happen if i know i can lessen that chance."
i see, i see. i’m afraid that’s all the time we have. thank you so much, congratulations, and best of luck to you and your team. to wrap things up, can you give us a quote?
"you have feet in your shoes. you can steer yourself any direction you choose."
jeong yunho, twenty5, cis male, he/him. ─── 3, 2, 1 — action! everyone, we’re here at jincheon national training center, and this time i have with me our national archery team’s very own choi minjun. you might know them for having achieved a perfect score in the 101st national sports festival, but if not, don’t worry. they’re here to field all your burning questions. let’s dive right in.
thanks for joining us today. so, tell me…
how does it feel to have been selected for the national team?
clasping his hands together in delight, minjun gives the reporter a gentle smile. "if i'm honest … it still doesn't feel like it's really happening. like it's not actually real and i'm about to wake up from a beautiful dream any second," he laughs heartily, shaking his head. "no, but really - i am beyond honoured to be part of the national team and i will do my best to represent my country properly!"
what message would you like to send to your fans and supporters as you represent the country on the national team?
minjun nods and considers the words for a moment before turning to look directly into the camera. "i would like to thank you all very much for the support you have given me over the past months and years. your kind words always mean the most to me, so i would like you to continue to cheer me on as i take on this new challenge. thank you!"
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
even when questioned about his least favourite subject, minjun doesn't let his facade crack and keeps a smile on his lips. "i wouldn't necessarily like to give mere rumours a platform to grow and develop into something even bigger, but since it's you," he smirks at the reporter, "i'll make an exception. there are certain people who claim that i'm just a puppet who doesn't have a say in how i present myself to the public, that i'm easily bought … you know, the usual. either way, i don't pay attention to those opinions, really."
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
how do you protect your mental well-being despite the negative attention from 105fm?
"i try to focus on the positive things instead. like the amount of support i receive from my fans online. it's really easy to get caught up in the negativity sometimes, so i think it's important to keep an eye on what's really important."
i see, i see. i’m afraid that’s all the time we have. thank you so much, congratulations, and best of luck to you and your team. to wrap things up, can you give us a quote?
"it may be satisfactory, but that's another word for mediocrity."
park wonbin, twenty2, cis male, he/him. ─── 3, 2, 1 — action! everyone, we’re here at jincheon national training center, and this time i have with me our national athletics team’s very own kwon hayan. you might know them for placing second for 100m at the 2023 asian athletic championships, but if not, don’t worry. they’re here to field all your burning questions. let’s dive right in.
thanks for joining us today. so, tell me…
how does it feel to have been selected for the national team?
“intimidating.” hayan’s smile is wide but there is a nervous tremble to his voice. “a dream come true, please don’t misunderstand, it feels like everything i’ve worked towards as an athlete is being acknowledged but—” he swallows. “intimidating. i want to do the trust that is being extended to me justice. i don’t want to grow complacent, and—” he pauses when he stumbles over his words and takes a moment to inhale, slowly, controlled, as if trying to soothe himself. “it’s a great honour, most of all. and i just really hope i’m worthy of it.”
what strengths do you believe you bring to the national team?
“i’m open-minded, i’d like to think. i’m willing to learn how to do things differently. i– i think that’s important in a team setting.” he scratches his cheek as if uncomfortable with the notion of praising himself too much. “also, you know. i run really fast.”
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
“rumours? i—” the words get stuck in hayan’s throat and his realisation is obvious by the gradual change in his expression. “oh, um— i try not to look into these matters too much. i’d prefer for my actions to speak for themselves.” this time, his smile is strained. “i’m glad the allegations claiming i’m not actually my father’s child but instead related to a member of the national olympic committee were so easily disproven, they were pretty ridiculous.” by his hesitation it’s obvious that he wants to add something, but seems to change his mind last second. “i know that it’s said that if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear from gossip, but these sorts of incidents are really intrusive. i hope people think twice before spreading rumours they read online.”
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
how do you stay focused on your training amidst the distractions caused by 105fm?
“i still have to prove myself to the rest of the team, you know?” hayan plays his words off as a cheeky joke but the stiffness of his shoulders betrays a certain truth to them. “i try to remind myself that if i let 105fm derail me i probably wasn’t made for this opportunity in the first place, and that’s the sort of thing my pride doesn’t take well to.” he laughs sheepishly.
i see, i see. i’m afraid that’s all the time we have. thank you so much, congratulations, and best of luck to you and your team. to wrap things up, can you give us a quote?
huh yunjin, twenty2, cis female, she/her. ─── 3, 2, 1 — action! everyone, we’re here at jincheon national training center, and this time i have with me our national gymnastics team’s very own hwang saerin. you might know them for being a 2019 worlds gold medalist in uneven bars and a longines prize for elegance recipient, but if not, don’t worry. they’re here to field all your burning questions. let’s dive right in.
thanks for joining us today. so, tell me…
what does it mean to you to represent the country on the world stage?
"cliche to say 'it means a lot', but... it really does," she starts with a chuckle, "i've literally been working towards this since i was born, so. i know some people will say i don't deserve it since i was chosen before and ..." she hesitates, exhaling through her nose before continuing, "ghosted everyone, and i don't have an excuse for that. not a good one, at least. i'm super thankful that i was given a second chance, and i'm gonna make it up by coming home with a gold medal."
what strengths do you believe you bring to the national team?
"so south korea isn't really known for gymnastics prowess, right? and that's because we're too focused on playing it safe. it makes sense considering how rigid of a sport this is. but i don't do that. i have a power that we've been lacking before, i like to push the boundaries, and i like to be a little bit dramatic. you can't do the same thing and expect different results, y'know?" and she gives a brief wink.
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
leaning back, she rolls her eyes at the mention of the gossip account before crossing her arms, "... i guess. there was some post talking about how i was kicked from the team after drug use and all i could do was just laugh at it. like one, i was not kicked from the team, and that's something you could easily verify; two, drug use? we're drug tested all the time, that doesn't even make sense. i don't need that stuff to be great, thanks."
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
what was your initial reaction to the anonymous gossip account targeting national teams training in jincheon?
"i mean ... shock of course. but while some things on there have turned out true and, y'know, actions have consequences, a lot of stuff on there too is false and that's unfair. i'd be livid if i through my entire life away to perfect my craft and it came crumbling down because of hearsay. but i feel like people don't care about that because they just want to see drama and that's really ... sad." she shakes her head, "do better."
i see, i see. i’m afraid that’s all the time we have. thank you so much, congratulations, and best of luck to you and your team. to wrap things up, can you give us a quote?
na jaemin, twenty4, cismale, he/him. ─── 3, 2, 1 — action! everyone, we’re here at jincheon national training center, and this time i have with me our national archery team’s very own cha eunyeol. you might know them for being a silver medalist in hyundai korea youth archery competition & for his international debut as a gold medalist in the u21 world archery championship. but if not, don’t worry. they’re here to field all your burning questions. let’s dive right in.
thanks for joining us today. so, tell me…
how does it feel to have been selected for the national team?
eunyeol remembers the feeling all too fondly. he never saw it as a goal in the first place if he was being honest. what started out from a simple admiration towards the heartstring leads to him picking up in his now forever passion and all that he cares about is just archery and his love for the sports. recognition from it comes as a bonus and if anything, he had saw this as a stepping stone for him to showcase his passion for his bow and arrows.
"i remember clearly when i went about with the qualifying. my coach didn't even tell me what it was for, you know. just that i should do my best and have fun as usual. i did feel like it was a bit weird since it wasn't a competition or anything. like there wasn't even like other teams there. but nevertheless i performed my best of course. then they told me i got in a few weeks after the qualifying and i said, 'got in what?' and that earned a tight hug from my coach. i mean, i was surprised. never knew that old man had affection in him but i think it was the first time i saw him cried even. i would say i remember the feeling of it; like happiness. but i think my coach was feeling it more for me." eunyeol finds himself laughing recalling seeing that side of his coach at that time.
how do you handle nerves and pressure when competing for the country?
"well.." eunyeol begins, letting his words trail off as he thinks. "not to be that guy really but i don't think i ever get like nervous or anything." he laughs, wondering if he sounded cocky from saying that. "it's just, i like archery so much so i'm always thinking about having the most fun when i'm out there with my gears in hand. i guess you could say, the ways to handle nerves and pressure is to think of the fun you get. the reason why you started the sports and is doing what you're doing now!"
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
"if im being honest" eunyeol starts with a laugh. "i honestly don't pay attention to social media and gossips much. i guess that's a given when i don't use it much myself either..." he shrugs simply. "i think i've been told about the rumors that was made up there? how my family is connected with the mafias or sorts, or that i was a school bully. there were even other rumors about me being an idol before but none of all of that is true really. i'm just a boy from a humble family in busan!" he points out with a grin, taking no inflictions to the baseless rumors. "ask any of my friends in busan, not that i'd disclaim where i study since i don't really want you to bug them and all. but they'll tell you how i'm just a guy who picked up archery in his late high school and before that, i was just some boy who would go to convenience store every day to buy strawberry milk before basketball practice."
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
have you confronted any false rumors from 105fm, and how did you handle it?
"well, like i said before. i was never one to entertain social media and gossips in general so i never really confronted it. when it doesn't get talked and when i don't get bothered by it just from the fact of not knowing such existence, it dies out as it is." eunyeol explains. "i don't think the things i've heard about me has particularly hurt anyone and if it does, then rest assured that i'll be taking legal actions to protect the people that i care for, especially my family. but when you have nothing but facts to back up your past, there really isn't anything to be concerned about. i live a clean life and if people wants a sort of fantasy shaped out of my livelihood, they're free to imagine whatever they want."
i see, i see. i’m afraid that’s all the time we have. thank you so much, congratulations, and best of luck to you and your team. to wrap things up, can you give us a quote?
"look for what you want to do slowly. it's never to late to start something."

can you share your journey to joining the national team? what obstacles did you overcome along the way?
"i started taking taekwondo classes when i was twelve, and you could say i have somewhat of an addictive personality," he starts. he pauses for a moment afterwards, a look of 'you already know where this is going, right?' on his face. his tone is fond with reminiscence as he continues on, "so immediately, i clung to it. i wasn't good at first, but it was something to do. something to fill my time with. something to strive towards. any medal, any little piece of praise or sure sign of improvement fueled me. god, i never had a chance against this sport, you know. from the first time that we met, i was wrapped around its finger." with that, he laughs. he leans closer to the interviewer. it's a subconscious thing and surely fueled by his enthusiasm on the topic. "but for a long time, i wasn't good with sparring; i had this, this, this... as ridiculous as it sounds, fear of getting hurt. so i avoided sparring as much as i could, which didn't allow me to improve. if i'm being completely honest, i'm still working on getting over that fear. i think it holds me back a lot, but i know i've come a long way with it already. i had to, being a part of the national team and all."
what strengths do you believe you bring to the national team?
"i'm an upbeat person. obviously, i'm not the only person like this on the team, but i think my demeanor goes a long way in increasing my value. competitive sports—well, obviously there can be a lot of tension at times. i'm good at breaking that tension." a smile, a shrug; with these two actions, his entire personality is expressed. "every team needs a mood maker, right?"
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
"at one point, it was said that i had been 'kicked off the national team' due to 'conflicts of interest'. i was so busy at the time that the first i heard of this rumor was when my mom called me to ask what happened. she was so devastated, and i'm not gonna lie, i was... like, blind-sided. there was a second when i almost thought maybe it was true?... but rest assured, i am very much still a member!"
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
how do you ensure 105fm doesn’t affect your relationships with teammates and fellow athletes?
"i take everything that's posted with a grain of salt," he claims, shoulders dropping just as fast as they were raised in what appears to be an unbothered shrug. "people like to talk, you know—i've learned that time and time again in these past couple years especially. it's easy for stories to get distorted, and i'd like to think that i know the people i'm working with more than whoever's behind 105fm does, so i'm pretty good about not letting anything that's posted change how i perceive the people around me. staying grounded in reality is the most important thing regarding things like this." he pauses just to grin, all teeth and protruding cheeks. a flashy look at me gesture. "recently, i've been cracking more jokes than ever. like i said, i don't let this stuff change how i act, but some humor works well to calm anyone else who might be more bothered than i am. usually, anyway."

how does it feel to have been selected for the national team?
the first word that comes to mind is... nothing. it felt like nothing when he got the call, and it feels like nothing now. he tries to think of a better word for it. "... natural. it would be weird if i didn't get in."
can you share your journey to joining the national team? what obstacles did you overcome along the way?
most of his 'journey' — if one can call walking a straight line a journey — has been paved roads and smooth sidewalks. when he thinks of an obstacle, only one comes to mind. one face. a smile wanders across his face and onto his mouth. "it wasn't easy, but i didn't have it as hard as others. all i've had to do is train and compete and be good at this one thing, and i've done that. the 'biggest obstacle'... someone who's sometimes better than me. but... let's say that obstacle's been cleared away."
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?

… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
what was your initial reaction to the anonymous gossip account targeting national teams training in jincheon?
"i... wasn't surprised when it came out. mongolia was... a mess. a lot of people got hurt. i am shocked that it's still around. and getting more popular." the straight line of his lips droops slightly into a small frown. "i don't know what the goal is now." he gingerly shrugs a shoulder.

how do you stay motivated and focused on your goals as a member of the national team?
i remember why i’m here and what i went through to get where i am. it is such an incredible chance many won’t have but one i’ve been granted and i am not going to waste it. our team is very united too, we have such a good vibe. everyone is helpful, always ready to lend a hand when one needs it. so much drive and passion! very playful too, we have a lot of fun during practice, maybe too much… coach gets mad sometimes- but we always have our eyes set on those medals, of course.
what strengths do you believe you bring to the national team?
i am speed. ( he manages to stifle a snort, but a proud grin tugs at his lips ) seriously, i’m very fast. didn't you see me last year? sprinted ahead, leaving everyone behind. ( now a scoff escapes him as he crosses his arms over his chest, straightening his posture ) on a more serious note, i think it’s my ability to adapt quickly to different races and strokes. i’m very confident too and i really thrive under pressure somehow. when i'm in the water, nothing else matters. i’m only focused on my performance, i want nothing more than to win.
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
i would like to set the record straight about one thing: i am not dating (teammate)’s girlfriend. i'm aware of my reputation but i would never betray a friend like that. the reason why we were out together that day was for his birthday, we were planning a surprise party and went out to pick a gift. it's frustrating, though, how easily people fall for these baseless rumors, especially given my reputation. it's like they're just waiting for any opportunity to paint me in a negative light. i would never do anything to jeopardize a teammate's trust or relationship.
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
how do you ensure 105fm doesn’t affect your relationships with teammates and fellow athletes?
we’re pretty tight. usually when a rumor drops about one of us, we’re pretty quick to address it. my teammates know me, i see them more than my own father now. they know what kind of person i am and know i’m not what 105fm makes me out to be. most of the time we laugh at these posts, except when they obviously try to mess up with our dynamic. as for other fellow athletes.. i can feel the judgment sometimes but i wish they would give me the opportunity to prove myself, just as i extend that same courtesy to them, rather than immediately believing any rumor they read or hear. ( he lets out a sigh ) i refuse to let it get to me. i know who i am, and i know the values i stand for.
i see, i see. i’m afraid that’s all the time we have. thank you so much, congratulations, and best of luck to you and your team. to wrap things up, can you give us a quote?
shin ryujin, twenty4, ciswoman, she/her. ─── 3, 2, 1 — action! everyone, we’re here at jincheon national training center, and this time i have with me our national tennis team’s very own cha soeun. you might know them for upsetting a crowd favourite and making it into the finals of the miami open at sixteen & winning a grand slam at twenty-one, but if not, don’t worry. they’re here to field all your burning questions. let’s dive right in.
thanks for joining us today. so, tell me…
how does it feel to have been selected for the national team?
“you should’ve asked me this six years ago, but now, i mean it’s a given, isn’t it?” a haughty smirk plays on her glossy lips, mischief gleaming in her eyes as she speaks, all with the trademark unapologetic confidence that only cha soeun can pull off. “i was called up when i was eighteen. i just won two grand slams last year - the only reason why they wouldn’t call me up if they didn’t want to win a gold medal.”
what strengths do you believe you bring to the national team?
“too many to name!” she quips, followed by a bright burst of laughter. “i’m only half-kidding. so, i’m definitely bringing my killer drop shot. i’m also easy on the eyes and i’m good entertainment. who wouldn’t want that on the national team?” along with a teasing smile, she sends a wink towards the interview - a signature soeun move that the cameras eat up every single time.
amazing. addressing a sensitive issue now: the rumors on “105fm.” could you shed some light on any concerning rumors you’ve heard about yourself?
almost immediately, her brows furrow and a theatrical roll of eyes follow. doesn’t even need to think before she answers, “they said i fucked my opponent’s boyfriend to win!” she gestures emphatically, an animated motion to accentuate her disbelief and annoyance. “it was really kind of insulting because i could’ve beat her ass in my sleep. why would i need to hook up with her ugly ass boyfriend? yeah, i may have said that to her before the game to rile her up, but that’s just trash talk. i didn’t actually do it.” crosses her arms against her chest, as she spits out the next few words. “what a cunt move. and that’s saying a lot coming from me!”
… and, i’m sure your supporters want to hear your thoughts.
how do you stay focused on your training amidst the distractions caused by 105fm?
“i’ve faced worse distractions. in fact, some might even say that i’m a bigger distraction than 105fm actually.” she beams at the interviewer, an innocent guise masking her penchant for her irreverent tendencies. “i even almost got banned for it!”
i see, i see. i’m afraid that’s all the time we have. thank you so much, congratulations, and best of luck to you and your team. to wrap things up, can you give us a quote?
“may god have mercy on my enemies, because i won’t.”
