Basically all of fandom’s reaction to tfp
MY BIGGEST REGRET IS NOT BEING STUCK IN A CLUE ESQUE GIANT HOUSE WITH ALL OF YOU RIGHT NOW WHILE THIS HAPPEN S SKJHSDFJGHSDFG
the basement is the conspiracy room with conspiracy walls
We're in the room where it happens . . .
If this show was about Mrs. Hudson and Molly they would gotten so much more done in 13 episodes than john and sherlock
heck put Mary in the mix and the three of them would have taken down Moriarty in like 15 minutes and had enough time to spare to all go out for brunch afterwards
add janine and kitty dealing with the press, irene (and kate) as their source of information, sally donovan and di hopkins as their contact in scotland yard, and anthea and lady smallwood dealing with the bureocratic bullshit and i swear they would have taken down moriarty, his web, and magnussen in a week, with extra time to have at least one girls’ night out, a break for brunch everyday, and would have ended the whole culverton smith thing in like five minutes while having tea
the man we both love
this was pretty much when i was like “well fuck if i care what happens for the rest of the episode tbqh, this is Enough” and then this happened
and now i’m dead, so,
I don’t like to point fingers but this is starting to look like a major parenting fail, Mr and Mrs Holmes
i really like this sherlock holmes fan fic but the time between updates is soooo long, i really hope they post a new chapter soon :\
this is Quality Content!!
i have no meta or theories left, just a hollow, thousand-yard sleep-deprived stare

Sherlock and John assumed that the Mayfly Man, coincidentally named John, was a bored married man who was cheating, when in reality he was a man with an extremely well thought out plan to get revenge for the death of someone close to him. What does that tell us about John Watson’s actions?
People do not change how they respond in crisis
Our reactions to crisis are based on several things. How we were taught to handle crisis by parents\carers before we reached the age of 7 [1-7 is the crucial time of personality formation] how easily we can adapt new tools as we mature and realise we need better skills, training on over-riding our natural impulses, and unfortunately, by trial and error. Shock at a love one dying due to trauma, such as a suicide off a roof top or a gunshot wound to the chest, is an event that results in a person going into crisis.
John handles crisis by going into care giver mode, he is trained to remain calm, yet he has panic and shock setting in. He valiantly fights but if the situation is hopeless he collapses into his emotions. Look at these two scenarios:
John still tries to take Sherlock’s pulse and check for signs of life, even though his medical knowledge tell him that Sherlock could not survive the fall.
He then caves in on himself and allows shock and horror to engulf him. Silence is his default mode of coping.
In HLV John has signs of life to work with, thus we get this:
Taking charge of the scene.
Now Mary had signs of life. She was having a fucking conversation for God’s Sake. Anyone in her state, even if the medical team think it is hopeless begin life saving measures. It’s a trained response. They don’t assess the wound’s boundaries and give up. They fight for life. John’s reactions should have been along the lines of how he handled Sherlock’s shooting in HLV. If he had found Mary dead, then you could argue he would have reacted as he did in TRF. [He didn’t have same connection to Mary as he does to Sherlock, so I would argue that he wouldn’t react as devastated, but that’s my own opinion] In the aquarium death scene, John does not react typically. His reaction is to calm Mary, reassure her, and wait for death to take her. Then he summons up all his grief, turns it into anger and spews it all out in Sherlock’s direction. An atypical reaction in crisis. Something is off here. It’s either Sherlock’s version of what occurred, or John is in on Mary’s fake death.
I love this line: “ She was having a fucking conversation for God’s Sake.”
It’s been pointed out before but this whole scene was so Hollywood movie fake. Kind of like Anderson’s Sherlolly fall explanation.
Reblogging this again, because as I pointed out in my meta, there is also the Hitchcock zoom parallel - I honestly think this is Sherlock making up an alibi for John (or himself), this isn’t what went down, this is an ‘official version’ like the shooting of Magnussen that was doctored at the beginning of the episode.
This also ties in with canon, as in canon Milverton was shot by a random woman while Holmes and Watson looked on. Mofftiss believe that this was Watson’s rewriting, that Holmes was actually responsible for Milverton’s death, but since Watson’s stories would be read by the public and he naturally didn’t want for Holmes to go to prison, he had to modify the story. In HLV we see Sherlock shoot Magnussen and then in TST it being doctored to look like someone else who is of no consequence shot him. Now we get a fairly insignificant Mrs Norbury shooting Mary - not really plausible, is it? If you take into account how stories are told, it would be rather anticlimactic if e.g a random policeman killed Joker while Batman was just having tea at home (which is why it’s more plausible that John killed Mary, since Moriarty is Sherlock’s archenemy). Anyway, villains get taken out by the heroes, not random characters who we’ve never seen before.
Excellent points @riteofashkente.
john shot mary and sherlock is covering it up :)
HOW had I not even considered this, my mind is blown right now…..
John shot Mary and Sherlock is covering it up. Okay but….yeah okay. There’s a promo still of a note saying “John’s alibi.” John needs an alibi. That’s…ah. Shit. Okay. Fuck.
That’s not how it happened at all.
Mrs. Norbury was a John mirror, hand tremor, undervalued, jealous, drinker. Fuck. Fuck
This is so, so important.
Here is where Moftiss say they believe Holmes killed Milverton:
Twitter Q&A
LYING TO PROTECT HIS FRIEND.
THE LYING DETECTIVE HOLY FUCKING SHIT SHIT SHIT
i’m into this shit now fuck
FEELING THIS.
could this also maybe tie into why time was such a prominent image in this ep, so Sherlock could make sure everything fit into place and every second counted for?
supposing this is all filtered through sherlock’s mind, either through unreliable narration or literally ‘doctoring’ the story to protect john… what if he’s making up what’s happening and giving Mary lines, things he would have said if he was in her place… like ‘you were always a good man, john, i’ve never doubted that. you never judge, you never complain. i don’t deserve you…. all i ever wanted to do was keep you and rosie safe that’s all”… “you don’t make it easy do you… being so perfect”… “you made me so happy, you gave me everything i’ve ever wanted… you were my whole world..” FUCK ME UP
Are those 2 knights facing each other Sherlock and John???
anyone: have we talked about this new thing that will fuck us all up??? me: (softly) Don’t,
🔥 K I S S 🔥
It looks like Mycroft is the one playing, down to five pieces left–the King, a Rook, the White Knight, and two Pawns.
Sherlock has cleared the board by unconventional means of all the opponent’s pieces but one, the Black Knight (Mary), who faces off against the White Knight (John).
The Rook (Mycroft) is generally considered the most powerful piece after the queen, yet it sits off at the sidelines, as M-theory posits Mycroft has been forced to do.
If Sherlock is the King, all that seems to stand between him and checkmate by the Black Knight is his White Knight and two seemingly insignificant pawns (Molly? Lestrade? someone we haven’t met yet…?). However, it’s the Black Knight who is in “check”–the Black Knight cannot make any moves on this board which will not result in being captured by one of the other pieces.
SOLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
It’s not chance. It’s chess.
I love this bar and everyone in it.
Sherlock Holmes made a voluntary move to physically comfort someone and was viciously rejected before he could make contact, I am not okay.
I'm still not okay. I may never be okay again.
us: this theory about john and Sherlock being in love explains every confusing plot point and allows us to predict the major narrative arc of the show
them: actually, they can't be in love because that would be Gay, and also the show is terribly written and nothing makes sense but it's still not gonna be Gay because it's just not
the sun isn’t up yet here so I’m allowed to speculate that the narrative is leaving John with no choice but to run into Mycroft’s arms, and that perhaps this has been Mycroft’s long game from the start

Can we please talk about how Sherlock was *at the very least* passively suicidal through the ep?
