I want to teach you a lesson in the worst kind of way

Do I? That’s interesting. I doubt they’re like me in many other ways, though. If they’re still around, be sure to introduce me sometime.

An eyebrow rose as the other responded, and he was quick to write his reply - The kinds of people that aren’t human. Maybe they used to be, but not anymore. That written, he set his notebook on the table, turning it about and sliding it forward so the demon could read it better.

“No, Eroniel returned to heaven I think.” 

“You know a lot for someone who doesn’t understand modern English.”

This version of English is rather foreign to me, but I make do as I can. Grey didn’t bother to argue, though, instead seating himself across from the demon. If I was staring, it should be known that it was only for being unused to the kinds of people on this island.

Watching as the man scratched his words down swiftly onto a paper pad, Tai leaned forward, weight shifted to his elbows. 

“You remind me of someone, with how you speak.”

“I’m afraid we’re all monsters here, you’ll have to specify exactly what kind of people you refer to.”

“네, I would, but l’m not pretty when I pout. Better that I don’t.” Even so, he grinned, glad for the offer he’d just been made. “Steaks would be great - and I agree with your boyfriend there; kimchi would be good.”

“Oh.” Face falling, Jeong stood up straight, folding his arms over his chest. “Oh, are you not my pretty wolfy princess? You will pout some day, I promise you!”

Then, he gave a bright laugh. “Look! You are already getting along so well! Who would have guessed you could both love kimchi?”

He wasn’t even sure if he liked kimchi, but this body did, and Tai had become too used to being Tai rather than Isseul to ignore the things that Isseul had wanted. Still, he leaned back in his chair, fingers smoothing his hair away from his face. 

“The prettiest princess,” he rasped, watching the lycan with dark, amused eyes. “You should feed him meat more often, Jeong.”

I wasn’t staring, only taking a long look. It seems you caught me at an inopportune moment.

“Strange, that English is my third language, yet even I know that taking a long look falls within the scale of staring.”

“If you intend to stare, then sit.”

Ever knew that he had little room to argue with the man so he quickly sat across the other. He hadn’t meant to be rude. He just thought it strange how one man could eat so much food. But if they were going to share a table he should start a polite conversation. “Um, thanks. My order should be done soon too I think. But my name’s Ever. It’s nice to meet you.”

Obedient at least, polite. The boy was a child though, with the soft, rounded curve of his cheeks and those wide dark eyes. Making a near silent sound to himself, Tai watched the boy before using his chopsticks and nudging one of the bowls forward, offering the still steaming tteokbokki.

“Tai-Yun. Soon is a subjective term here, depending on what you ordered.”

“So he used it.” He stepped forward, chin tilted upwards and head slightly cocked as he examined the fork from his distance. “Times are tough,” he commented dryly, “we needed to eat.”

“It still stands that this?” Waving the fork slightly, Tai crossed his legs, food before him forgotten. He had just wanted to eat his lunch, how had this even happened? “This is still my fork child, and the other vampires use of it doesn’t change that.”

“Oh! Oh, sorry I wasn’t staring at you. I was looking at your food. I was just wondering how you were going to finish all of it.”

“You usually finish food by eating it.”

Tai frowned at the boy, at the hunger that he recognized easily in the dark of his eyes.  Motioning to the chair across from him, he gave the boy little choice, eyes narrowed on him. 

“Sit.”

“It smells like him. It’s his. Where did you get this fork?”

Grimacing, Tai leaned back in his seat, staring at the crazed vampire with exasperation. 

“This fork is from my desk, at the Nyx. The him you’re referring to is the boy who took it and killed one of my actors with it. While impressive, this is still my fork, that I need to eat my meal, regardless of his creative murder.”

Salem’s gaze moved to the fork, and then back to the demon in front of him. “Do you really expect me to take it?”

“It was polite of me to offer all the same.”

“My bad dude! Didn’t mean to stare, I think I’ve got the same jacket.” The vampire diverted his gaze down toward his phone. “I can look down for a while but I gotta look up eventually. Don’t wanna trip and risk breaking an arm. My livelihood depends on it!”

“Either way, didn’t mean to offend ya.”

Eyes narrowing, Tai tilted his head slowly, watching the other man where he stood. The jacket he wore was one of Jeong’s, stolen from the man’s closet when he was too lazy to hunt down his own clothes, and he pulled at the fabric for a minute.

“It’s my boyfriends.”

“That’s unfortunate.”

Frowning, staring at the intent young man, Tai looked down at the spread on the table in front of him before holding out a fork to the other man.

“You know it’s impolite to stare, yes?”

“A fork is as useful a weapon as a knife. Simply smaller.” He offered said weapon up to the other. “If you must have it back.”

Taking the fork back, he only hesitated for a moment before catching it between his own teeth. It was supposed to be for his lunch after all, there was no use wasting a utensil. 

“Do you make it a habit of killing men with forks and knives, or are my actors just special?”

Rather than giving the other a response, he pushed the bloodied end of the fork into his mouth, licking it clean.

“Perhaps he should have thought twice about touching me, then.”

Frowning, disappointment showed on his face, and Tai sighed.

“I would apologize for that, but I think you handled that rather well. Considering you killed one of my actors, with a fork.”

“Would you like it for something?”

“Eating, preferably. You killed one of my actors.”

“Oh, you don’t want to eat me? How wonderful. That’s not a thing most people have to worry about, you know. Anyways - I’m not one for cannibalism, but I can promise you that I’ll do much worse than eat you if you hurt him.” His grin was sharp-toothed and threatening - he wasn’t letting Tai-Yun get away with jack shit against his roommate of five years.

“Wait a minute - did you say bacon? You’ll make bacon for your boyfriend, but not for me? 못쓰게 만들다, I thought we were better friends than that.” All seriousness was gone - he couldn’t let Jeong see that side of him for too long, lest he start asking questions.

Face flushing red under his roommate’s gaze, a grin of relief streaked across his face. “I am sorry!” He cried, bowing in apology. “You must pout more! Tai-Yun pouts and it is upsetting to watch.” No less, he giggled. “I will make you your steaks if it will make it better.”

“Of course.” Far from insulted or worried, instead, Tai watched the other man with narrowed black eyes. He nodded slowly then, turning his gaze back to Jeong, and his expression morphed. Eyes going wide, mouth falling open slightly, a faint tremble slipped across his lips, and he reached out to tug gently at the hem of Jeong’s shirt. 

“Angel, can we have kimchi with the steaks?”

“What’s wrong? Never seen something like that before?”

“Actually,” Staring down at the body with an inquisitive expression, Tai tucked his hands into his pockets. “I was wondering if you were going to use that fork for anything else, other than stabbing the body.”
