My experience in GMUN
Being a press committee delegate is not only my first press experience but also my entire Model United Nations experience, and indeed there wouldn't be a better one.
A couple of weeks before arriving to Qatar I was worried; worried about how my president and vice president would be and whether I will have the capability to satisfy them or not, but fortunately I was favored to have Natalie Diong and Sara as my presidents. Nervousness didn't seem to go away until day two, after reading the 5 minute opening speech and meeting my marvelous colleagues.
Best part of the press committee is that realistic feeling of being a journalist! Snapping pictures, posting them on blogs, and writing the tweet-like posts.
Personally, I believe the Press committee held the most fruitful meetings where I am positive that almost everyone learned almost as much as I did, and I am looking forward to cooperating in more distinguished Georgetown Model United Nations' conferences.Â

My personal reflection of being part of the Press Committee
After attending Georgetown MUN I feel like my whole life has changed. At my committee I meet cool team members that will stay with me my whole life. And I won't forget my chairs that were with us the whole time and helped us and guided our way through Georgetown MUN.
At first I felt like I won't get along with my committee members but all of them where friendly with me. Also, I thought that the press committee will be boring and I won't have fun but when I attended my first session it was better that I expected.
As my team member Zidni said, we are a "press family" and truly we act like one and when a team member falls we all rush to help that team member. At my last day I wish that I could spend more time with my committee.Â

Experience at the press committee
The 9th annual GMUN conference was a wonderful educational experience, and being part of the press committee presented me with the opportunity to experience it in a truly amazing manner. Having never been part of a press committee before, I was quite curious, nervous and excited all at the same time at the beginning of the conference. I was expecting to be putting in a lot of hard work, yet I had no idea just how much fun I was about to have in a matter of four days.
As I entered the room allocated for the press committee on the very first day, I had absolutely no idea of what was about to happen. Well kind of. I had researched about it, but that was just about it. Yet the committee chair and vice president – very amiable, good-humored people, I must say – cleared all our doubts and put us all at ease. My colleagues were very lighthearted and extremely friendly, and collaborating with them to report on the proceedings of the conference (and expose the not-so-professional side of it) was rather entertaining.
Running to and fro from conference rooms, trying to scoop juicy bits of gossip and capturing incriminating pictures of delegates and committee chairs alike when they least expect it were just a part of the ‘dynamic’ we were part of. Overall, it was a brilliant educational - not to mention entertaining - experience that I was absolutely privileged to be part of. The memories accrued throughout the course of this conference will be forever treasured and cherished.

Rafeea Al-Mohannadi - GMUN 2014 Press Committee reflection
Being part of the press team for GMUN has opened my eyes in numerous ways. I have always been interested in photography and videography therefore this experience has given me the chance to develop my teamwork and communication skills within my press team members. Meeting and working with people from different backgrounds and different age groups who share the same interests has been very stimulating and compelling.
I really enjoyed how we were asked to report whatever happens in the conference room instantly and this made being in the press team so entertaining. By the third day the delegates and chairs had to think about what they were doing twice since the press team were always watching and reporting instantly. Clearly, this became very entertaining for us!
Overall, I feel that this was a great experience and which I will never forget and I will most definitely take in the skills that I learnt from this experience for my future. I certainly learnt a new thing everyday.Â
Noor Odeh - Press Committee reflection
I am an Academic Bridge Program (ABP) student who wants to study Journalism. I joined the Press Committee at the GMUN, because I know I would get a great preview of how and what a journalist would do.
Three days have passed working at the GMUN’s Press Committee and I am not whatsoever remorseful of a step I did with the great bunch I met in this committee. It was a fantastic experience working and talking to Georgetown students as well.
I got a beautiful preview of how I could be and what I can be doing in my future, since I want to major in Journalism and may continue my studies in Law. I’m extremely grateful for getting this opportunity and working at GMUN. I’m glad Georgetown held this wonderful MUN conference. If I could be apart of the GMUN next year, I would be first in line to sign up.

Almas - Press Committee reflection
Being a part of GMUN family is a honor for me. Being honest, I've learned a lot in here and built up many skills. I met lots of delegates from different cultures and traditions, they gave snapshots of their countries and lives. I've made numerous friends in here and they're all cooperating and sometimes caring as well. Well, starting on with my own committee "Unbelievable". We all act like were part of one family, 24/7 there's laughter in the room ... The president and vice president plays music videos ... and we all work while were singing. We as a press team captured a live music video, our entire press team was a part of it. All these moments with the delegates of press team will be a memorable moments. Last and the least, I would like to thank GMUN for making me a part of this family and my press team and the sweet president and vice president. This was my second time being a part of GMUN and was better than my first experience ... will never forget all these memorable moments.
Li Zhuoyan personal reflection
My experience on being a press member in the GMUN
This is the first time for me to be in the press committee, and it has been an incredible experience. As a press team member, I had the opportunity to visit various committees, which was really fascinating since I have been able to learn from and even comment on the progresses from all the councils. During the experience, I have been representing the Jewish Telegraphic Agency with my partner. We went to different conference rooms and witnessed a great number of unique moments. Every time when we were informed that there would be a crisis in a certain council, someone would just carry a camera and rush into the room to record it.
Being in the press is really lots of fun. Not only did we get to meet more people, but we were also able to put our own thoughts into the posted texts to show everyone. However, being a press team member meant that it was going to be challenging as well. I am supposed to write down what I see in short time and I have to take my agency’s real life stand into consideration.
The experience was really an unforgettable and special one.
