i dont think whites understand how being white makes literally everything easier.

it effects everything.

being trans is easier when youre white.

being gay is easier when youre white.

being disabled is easier when youre white.

being a woman is easier when youre white.

being autistic is easier when youre white.

oppression is eased when you are white, as you get extra privileges, and your whiteness is seen as a positive characteristic that in some ways counter-balances your other forms of being a minority. whiteness controls everything.

you are automatically way more innocent in your own oppression as a gay, trans, disabled person because of your whiteness.

if you ever get mad at someone and realize you’re wrong obvs apologize but if it’s haunting you still just take solace in knowing you aren’t my former roommate who yelled at us all more than once about how the dishwasher sucked and was gross and to stop using it on our shared dishes. like full on shouted at us. we were all confused becase the dishwasher worked fine so we ignored him and kept using it.

one day we were all making dinner and he stormed in like “look at this!!!” and pulled a dish outta the dishwasher as an example.

the dishwasher was dirty and it turned out he thought that a dishwasher automatically runs a quick wash every time you put in a dish. so he was taking dirty dishes out before we ran the dishwasher and believing it had already run and getting mad at everyone about it. 35 years old and he yelled at the whole house because he didn’t understand how a dishwasher works.

he didn’t apologize for yelling at us either. he was like “well I never had a dishwasher.” okay me neither dude. lots of people don’t have clothes dryers either but never once in my life has someone put their clothes in the dryer, pressed Zero buttons, and started shouting at me bc their socks are still wet an hour later. let’s use our brains. let’s get curious and ask questions ♥️
