Doing a bit of lore/world building for the next page. In The Aureate, people use Contact Sigils in much the same way as phone numbers/web addresses. A Contact Sigil uses the family name as the basis, with modifiers for the given name (note the variance in the bottom corners of Melo and Spit's sigils).
Contact Sigils can be used for written correspondences (colloquially called Hexts) as well as for audiovisual chats through the use of scrying, provided a suitably reflective surface is nearby--when scrying, the user's reflection is replaced with whoever they are calling! For this reason, most people in The Aureate carry a small pocket mirror--though in case of emergencies, you could even use a muddy puddle (though this would affect call clarity).
Purses, wallets, bags of holding etc all come standard with a Sigil Seal--roughly the size of a lipstick applicator, it has a blank end which can trace Contact Sigils and store them in magical memory, and a stamping end that recalls them for use. They rely on ley energy to work. Ley energy is what allowed for post-digital ("magical") technology to develop in the first place. Leylines both natural and manufactured connect the planet--though in undiscovered or extremely remote areas, only natural leylines exist. Thankfully, they're easy to dowse for in dire times!
You might notice that Amaryllis's sigil resembles an animal--in addition to being useful for corresponding with and representing an individual, Contact Sigils are also a means of self expression. Amaryllis has an affinity toward critters, so she crafted her sigil to represent that!
You might also notice that Melo and Spit's sigils look a tiny bit more "crude" than the others--this is because Melo is not originally from The Aureate. While most Aureate children are taught sigil crafting in school, Melo was well into adulthood by the time she ended up in this world--and had to quickly improvise her sigil on the fly. When she married Spit, Spit decided to take Melo's family name and re-craft her Contact Sigil to be based on her new wife's.

hello! i spent yesterday morning editing the digitally-drawn pages i did before the switch to traditional ink and paper, so that they're all consistent with the B4 manga paper sizing. as such, the first four pages ended up being split into two each--so the actual page number is now 24.

skeletony is turning into more of an anxiety self-callout with every page 😭
