Yaypril Day 13 - Lightsaber, with Blyla
Aayla is hurt. Nothing bad, just a sprained wrist, but that’s enough to leave Bly feeling unnerved. He wishes he could do anything to alleviate her pain, even though she’s not complaining one bit about her injury. Still, he can’t help but be an emotional wreck whenever something happens to her.
“You should keep this for me. I doubt I’ll be making a good use of it in my state.”
It takes him a second to realize she’s handing him her lightsaber. The moment he does, his heart misses a beat. He isn’t an inexperienced shiny; he knows just how precious their weapon is to a Jedi, especially when he’s heard Cody rambling time and time again about how General Kenobi keeps losing what is supposed to be his life.
A lightsaber is the life of a Jedi, and Aayla is handing him hers like it’s nothing.
“General… Are you… Are you sure I should…?”
“Absolutely. It’s best you have it so you can protect the men while I’m recovering, and I know it’ll be safe with you.”
She smiles kindly as she says it, clearly meaning every word, and that’s all it takes for Bly to blush harder than he ever has before. Thank Force none of his batchmates are here to see him, or they’d have enough teasing material to last them a lifetime.
He reverently takes the weapon in his hand, trying his best to ignore how his fingers brush against Aayla’s as she gives it to him. There’s a wildfire running free in his chest, but Bly keeps his composure despite it.
“I’ll take great care of it, I promise.” He softly promises.
“I know you will.” She states, as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world.
And with that, she steals his heart once more, even though it already belonged to her to begin with.
