I only just realized that Beshelar's outburst is not about Setheris, but actually about Maia. He's nowhere near as horrified at Setheris' behavior as he is that it happened to Maia, the nicest and most gracious person in Osreth (even moreso than Cala, as we learned a few pages earlier), and that no one cared to save Maia. Yes, abusing your charge is bad, but that's Beshelar's charge who was abused. Of course he's furious and overly emotional and breaking all rules of etiquette!
