If you have failed a semester
I want you to know that you are not alone.. many people donāt do great one semester, two semesters, threeā¦.itās okay.
But there are some hard truths that you need to hear to prevent you from making the same mistake again. And Iām not saying that this new semester you shoot for a 4.0 or something crazy, if you want to go ahead.
But the most important thing for you to know is that whatever you were doing before did not work.
You have to change a lot to do very well, Iām assuming nothing else was going on in your life, if you have any mental health issues I donāt mean you that is a hard uphill battle. I mean people who didnāt go to class, did not study enough, crammed for every test and forgot assignments. You have to change. Maybe this is obvious, but as I try to help others on my campus it seems that we think that whatever worked before, whether it was for one semester, one test or one essay that it will just work again. Maybe the technique will, maybe it was the perfect schedule for you. But if you want to do well you have to change because clearly something about you has already changed.
I know this because this was me, I had done awful for 2 semesters in a row and for both of those I did the same thing I always did, or for one I tried and then I failed later on in the semester. Once I saw that I was not perfect, yes I failed but I have to think about how I can do better, everything worked smoother.
You canāt do the same things over and over again and expect the same results. If you have been through a hard semester of college or are going through it right now I want you to look at yourself and your life and see āwhat am I doing wrong that is in my controlā. Then you have to find out how to fix it, whether thatās read a how to study book or some tips for your specific problem whether thatās time management, discipline, motivation or something else, you are in control of that.
I know each and every one of you is an intelligent person capable or learning if you put your all into it or even your half. I just donāt like to sit by and see others waste your potential. You can do that thing that you want to do, whatever it is, and if that doesnāt work out you can do something else extraordinary.
This is kind of a long post, but I hope someone who needs it sees it, I really hope I donāt come across as rude to you all, but just think it should take five minutes because although it is hard to admit something is wrong it is so much more rewarding when you get past whatās wrong and do whatās right for you.
