Reasons why I don’t like Rose Tyler
- The biggest reason is the way she treats her family and friends. When she learns her boyfriend might be dead in “Rose”, she couldn’t care less - the only thing she worries about (briefly) is that she has to tell Mickey’s parents about his death. Then she’s off, smiling and laughing with the Doctor. After that, she drags Mickey with her even though she clearly doesn’t love him. And her reaction to the fact that Mickey can finally see the stars, too, and take the amazing trip she has had, is ridiculous, childish and just horrible to watch. And when she’s still clearly Mickey’s girlfriend, she is flirting with Adam and Jack, dismissing her boyfriend completely, and also falling for the Doctor without any troubles with her conscience. She also dismissed Jackie all the time, and just pops in to space without saying goodbye.
- The way she dismisses her whole life is unbelievable. She hates it and finds nothing good about it. “For the first nineteen years of my life, nothing happened. Nothing at all.” Really? So nothing your loved ones did for you meant anything to you? How dare you complain when you had so many good things in your life, things many people would kill to have (a family, a home, a boyfriend who adored you, a respectable job…)?
- She is super needy and jealous. If the Doctor so much as talks to another person, she’s jumping up and down “Me! Me! I was here first!” Well guess what, you weren’t. You are just one in the line, and you have no right to be rude and dismissive to amazing and brave women like Martha or Sarah Jane, and she immediately dislikes other women Doctor has some kind of relationship with, too. You are not the centre of the world, Rose! The Doctor is allowed to have a life that doesn’t revolve around you 100 % of the time.
- She is dangerous to be around with because she can’t take instructions. I mean, women don’t have to do what others tell them to do, no way, but if your actions are done out of lack of interest for anyone’s safety, then you’re just selfish. How many times did the Doctor ask her not to wander off, because he knew he had to save her and stop the catastrophe she started?
- She cannot let go. How much time has passed in the parallel world before Doctor comes to say goodbye to her? How much time before she decides to tear the universe apart to with the Doctor? She doesn’t even want to try and move on, which annoys me for personal reasons more than I can say.
- And the fact that she so willingly kissed Ten2 is sickening. If she was in love with Doctor like she says, she would know they are not the same. And yet she frenches Ten2 right in front of his own Doctor, and then gets upset when the Doctor leaves. Unbelievable.
- And I know it’s not her fault, but I absolutely hate how the Doctor treats Martha because of Rose, and how he put her on a pedestal.
