On a trip up to the mountains, tracking a string of strange animal deaths, Team Free Will runs into a pissed-off forest witch who curses them, turning them into their animal counterparts with a magic acorn amulet.

Now they have to find a way to turn themselves back into humans without angering the magic embedded in the amulet.

What’s your opinion on Crowley?

Crowley was one of those long running characters whose story was eventually turned to shit by virtue of being a long running character. And I don’t mean Rowena. I loved the original conceit of Crowley as being a low level demon working his way up the food chain to king of the crossroads to King of Hell. THAT was interesting. Once Carver fucked that up he was never quite the same to me.

Which isn’t to say he wasn’t enjoyable. Mark Sheppard is a way better actor than most of the other people on this show (despite really, REALLY hamming it up on occasion and overacting the shit out of his lines to cringeworthy effect) and adds complexities where there weren’t any to begin with. Jared should pay him royalties for coming up with the Moose nickname he slaps on all of his merchandise these days fr… something like a 20% tithe.

Crowley also has distinct chemistry (take that however you want to) with both Castiel and Dean. And I loved most of the interactions between him and Rowena. I think the reason most people overlook things like him being a rapist, an indiscriminate murderer, a blackmailer and tbh a fucking sap for most of the end of his run is due to Mark Sheppard and his je ne sais quoi. A good actor can make almost anything work. Dabb fucking hated him and I fucking hate Dabb so there is also an enemy of my enemy thing going on with him for me. He should have been allowed to stab Dabb with a rusty nail (or REBAR lmao) for putting him in footie pajamas.

I also appreciated Mark’s candor about returning to the show when he was killed off. Gaslighting and treating the fans like morons is such a favourite pastime of everyone involved with Supernatural so it was truly refreshing how honest he was.
