After Marlon left, I followed after, walking past the guild building to explore this side of the mountains since they had been blocked off before! And to my surprise, I found a larger also broken bridge over a dusty ravine. Across the way I could see a bunch of rocks, but I don’t know what that place is supposed to actually be.
Regardless, after a while, I made my way back to the Farm and warmed up near the fire as I thought over everything that had happened today. What a busy day! And I just moved here.
Since it was still pretty light out, I made my way up to the mountains remembering that piece of, what I thought was junk mail, from Joja. And sure enough, that pile of rocks was gone. I made my way back across the footbridge and decided to check in the cave nearby. I caught a glimpse of someone in there anyway, so I was curious.
Inside I met Marlon! He’s head of the adventures guild here in the town; that must have been what that building a few paces down from the cave is for. Anyway, he seems to think that there are some resources down the mine that could help me, and offered me a rusty old sword for protection.
Apparently, he wants me to prove myself to him which seems silly, but I’ll entertain him anyway. But I won’t go down tonight, it’s too late in the day to even think about losing my sense of time to go explore just yet.
After exploring the Community center for a bit, I went back to the farm to plant and water the seeds I had bought! Digging spots into the ground for the beans was tough but hopefully, they’ll be alright! I’ll anchor them down later if necessary.
I then when and visited the beach for a little while~ There I found this broken bridge over some water? I could probably just walk across the small flow but it would probably be for the best to have a walkway bridge. Maybe I can help fix that.
I was going to head back to the farm and plant my seeds afterward but I decided to head back to the community center. Before I went in I noticed someone sitting off to the side on a stone bench. It turns out it was Maru. She seemed to be really excited to see me and was happy to introduce herself. She seems to be interested in how my being here in the valley will affect the town. Hopefully, I make a positive impact.
Heading into the community center, I walk around and check out the place. Being careful of where I was walking of course.
There are missing tiles, boarded-up windows, and busted up crown molding in the kitchen. Broken crown molding in the pantry like area too.
Heading down, I notice one of those creatures again but this time they were grey instead of green. It had been standing near this golden tablet sitting in the middle of the room. I tried to read it but I can’t understand these weird symbols, and the aura I was getting from it was very odd so I left it where it was. Looking around I notice the torn up carpet, stacks of wood, and an empty bookcase with another pair of boarded-up windows.
Heading out, I walk the span of the main room, glancing at the bulletin board that's just covered with papers and more requests. This must be where the requests used to be posted before people started posting them on Pierre’s storefront.
The next room seemed to be some sort of treasury maybe? It’s overrun with vines and such that had broken in through the floor and windows. Despite the mess, it feels so surreal to be in.
Following a messy hallway, I found the boiler room that looked like it hadn’t been used in quite a few years. I wonder when they stopped using this place. When did it close? Why did people suddenly stop coming to the center?
So many questions. I hope I can learn the answers to them.
Coming back over the bridge from checking if JojaMart was really there or not, I made my way back through Townsquare. I then remembered I hadn’t had the time to check out the clinic before either, so I decided to go in.
That’s where I met Harvey! He seems to be really sweet and was so nice while we chatted.
Pondering over the things Mayor Lewis had said, I made my way down to Pierre’s shop to buy seeds. There was another request on the board so I picked it up and went inside. I remember storing away some horseradish back at the farm, so that would be easy.
I bought my seeds and talked some with Pierre. Apparently, there’s a Joja Store in town?? How awful. Before I could rush out to go see for myself, Pierre told me that his wife and daughter were back in the house and that I should stop in and visit if I had the time. Given that I haven’t met his daughter yet, I decided that was a better use of my time than wasting more of it on Joja.
After meeting Abigail, who didn’t actually give me her name. I stayed and chatted with Caroline and Abigail went to chat with her father. It’s so nice that Caroline helps Evelyn out with the public gardens.
Still, remembering what Pierre told me, and how Lewis had mentioned them earlier, hurried out of the store to go see if what they were saying was true. Sadly it was! I was so shocked! I’m never shopping here, forget that!!
Heading inside the community center it didn’t look much better than it did on the outside. There was a nifty looking hut and some stuff scattered around as well. Lewis was going on about how it was more run down than he remembered when I saw something!
It waved to me but disappeared before Lewis could see it! When I tried to tell him, he thought I was talking about a rat or something. Like, excuse me? I think rats are adorable, I wouldn’t have jumped at the sight of one.
I saw another one and again! The being disappeared when Lewis turned to look. It was very frustrating. >:(
However, the Mayor was right, it was time to go for the both of us. Maybe I will come back later and check things out on my own. They obviously don’t trust Mayor Lewis like they do me.
So heading into town to buy some more seeds and I saw the Mayor heading up to the fields behind the shops. I was curious and followed. I was apparently right, that old building was important to the town at one time.
Apparently, Joja wants to tear it down and use it for wares!! Not going to happen D< Not on my watch. I just escaped that awful corporation, I will NOT let it invade the sweet valley that is home to Pelican town.
Lewis invited me inside with him and I was not prepared for what happened, what so ever.
Going to have a nice relaxing day tomorrow, and the spirits are still upset I see. I wonder if there's anything I can do to cheer them up.
I was happy to see that my Parsnips were finally ready for harvest though! How exciting, my first harvest!
I also got some junk mail for some reason, I barely glanced at it but it said something about drilling operations? I don’t know and don’t really care about anything having to do with Joja, that company is awful.
But maybe they were talking about that guy up in the mountains, he was clobbering away at what looked to be a landslide for the past couple days. I offered to help but he ignored me. So I guess it makes sense since he was apparently with Joja.
I caught up with Sebastian in the mountains and was able to deliver that sunfish to him! He seemed really grateful and I made some coin on it. I ended up spending the rest of the night fishing in the mountain lake until I was so tired that I just went home and passed out.
Making my way past the Saloon, Alex stopped me to tell me that I should meet his grandparents. So I stopped in, Evelyn and George are very sweet! George was grumpy but that’s alright, I can understand. However, I do love meeting new people!
I met Penny on the way out of Evelyn and George’s home, she seemed to be lost in thought so she didn’t exactly introduce herself. Alex told me who she was before he headed home.
I then headed up and visited Jodi, and finally met little Vincent. He’s such a cute little boy. While children are the most perceptive people out of all of this he really should listen to his mother and be careful. However, since we were standing with her in the kitchen everything was fine.
Jodi is a really sweet woman, she seems like a good mum.
On my way out of the library, I met Sam! He seemed really energetic and sweet. I then remembered that I still needed to find that sunfish for Sebastian as well! So I sat on the riverside and tried my hand. I did end up finding a sunfish for him, and got a little carried away with fishing. I reeled in some trash sadly so I went and tossed those.
Also! Apparently, this is where those blue books disappear!! I was so happy when I noticed them on the shelf. How wonderful isn’t it? Not only do I have the chance to donate items to the Museum, but any books I find magically get sent to the Library. :)
It’s not much Gunther! But it’s a start. He was able to tell me what they were too! I donated an Earth Crystal and Calcite stone.
Gosh! What a visit to the library it was!! I met Gunther and boy was I surprised. Apparently, it's a Library & Museum combination building, but the past caretaker of the place made off with everything in the Museum. How greedy. :(
He seemed really excited when I had told him that I found some stuff. So he made an offer and I think it’s very doable! Even if I wasn’t going to be compensated for my donations. Everyone deserves to have the ability to learn and if I can help by donating items to the Museum then I’m more than willing.
Also ran into Mayor Lewis on the way, he seemed to be reminiscing so I stepped away as he continued on.
Elliott said hello as we passed each other and I finally made it to the Blacksmith! Where I met Clint. He seems shy but friendly. :) He helped me with some geodes. He suggested I head to the library to learn about them. What friendly advice!
