"Pray will We, Attune will We, until that spark of divine light shines from the deepest darkness!"
Hello and welcome to the Pantheons! This blog is just for funs! This is a place you can use to set up a battle using ANY combat system you wish be it WARble, the Sad System, the Crest System, something of your own, the Simple System (explained below) or if you just want to do a staged set battle between yourself and other roleplayers! You may issue a challenge via an ask to this blog! It would be cool if you made sure who you're challenging is okay with it first but everyone has the right to say no, don't be dissapointed if your duel or battle doesn't get approved <3 This is all for fun after all!!
Due to how chaotic things can get I will only accept 3 duels at once! Please be patient <3
"So what is the Simple System?"
It is... very simple haha. You get TWO D20s. One to roll for defence and one to roll to attack. That's it.
Your defence D20 determines how much damage you block. For example;
"Hornet rolls a 10 to attack!
Lace rolls a 5 to defend!"
Lace, in this instance would then take 5 damage off her over all health. If the defence roll is equal or higher to the attack damage dealt then the defender takes ZERO damage. For example;
"Hornet rolls a 10 to attack!
Lace rolls a 11 to defend!"
Here, Lace would take no damage.
HOWEVER, depending on the levels of health your characters have using the defence dice can make the battle slow; I like to start dropping it around 50%-75% health lost personally but it is up to you!
~
Each player would have a set amount of health. As standard I would personally say:
50 health for a small enemy type bug (for example; a tiktik or aspid or something like that. your basic adds)
100 health for an ordinary bug (for example; a pilgrim or husk or basic bug)
200 health for a warrior (for example; a character on the same level as a husk sentry or reed fromt the citadel. they would be more trained for combat)
300 health for boss characters (for example; Hornet, Lace, the Soul Master, the Mantis Lords)
400 health for Higher Beings (for example; the Pale King, The Radiance, Grand Mother Silk)
HOWEVER, once again this is just a guideline, you can feel free to set your own health as long as your roleplay partners are okay with it!
~
There is another option as well to spice this up if things are a bit TOO simple for you! Lets just call these elemental weaknesses, sort of like Pokemon!
There are "elementals" to consider: soul (and silk, I group those together as they work essentially the same), essence (dream magic), flame (nightmare stuff), lifeblood, nature (or like... acid? it's related to unn maybe?) and void.
(sorry about the quality of the chart oTL)
Essence: Is strong against Void but weak to Nature
Void: Is strong against Soul/Silk but weak to Essence
Soul/Silk: Is strong against Lifeblood but weak to Void
Lifeblood: Is strong against Nightmare/Flame but weak to Soul/Silk
Nightmare/Flame: Is strong against Nature but weak to Lifeblood
Nature: Is strong against Essence but weak to Nightmare/Flame
I hope all of that made sense! There is no real rhyme or reason why these interact like they do except for Void and Soul (seen in game to an extent) and Flame and Nature (fire hot). This is all optional and just to spice things up if you feel like it!
If your element is strong against the one you are attacking you will do double damage! For example;
Ghost uses Abyss Shriek against The Radiance and deals 1d20 damage (10) but because The Radiance would be weak against Void damage she would take 10 damage x 2 = 20!
If your element is weak against the one you are attacking then you will do normal damage (I feel like this is best because otherwise you may simply do no damage at all if using blocks <3)
"Okay what could a typical duel invite look like?"
It can be anything really; in character or out of character! Just make sure that both of you understand the rules you're playing with and, if you'd like, select a "stage" or "arena" to fight in! I'll post your challenge and once it's accepted I will make a post for you to fight on :D There is no time limit, take it slow, have some fun, and I'll try to keep an eye out once you're done! I'll make a little post eventually with win/loss stats!
*Lurien looks up, into the rolling smoke, into the clouds, up at the twisting incomprehensible shapes of the City before him, his feet sunk into the soft ground, his own blood still staining it. his hand strays to his chest where he swears he can still feel the blade of the Steelwyrm pierce his shell. he had been afraid then, he is afraid now, of the same thing yes, but there is one key difference. last time he had something to defend. last time he was alone. last time he had not accepted the truth of his situation
now... he has nothing he needs to protect, no frail failing body to put behind his back. he has allies. he has accepted his fate and the fate of all things and... he isn't afraid of the Steelwyrm. or his armies. or his city. or anything else. there is no way he can lose. no way he can't win. he turns slightly, looking over his allies gathered in the scarce comfort of their camp... there is no going back...
he strolls up to the edge of the overhang, his cloak fluttering behind him in the too warm breeze blowing by, his voice sails upon it, loud. clear. commanding*
Allies of Hallownest! The time is upon us! The towering structure of metal and suffering before you is none other than the fabled City of Steel; a cruel invention of the Steelwyrm, the very city we intend to see felled! Our mission, simple as it may seem, will be dangerous! Those of you who will not be drawing blade, drawing nail or pin or claw or weapon of any kind, you've the task of taking out any external weapons the city has that you can see from a distance or, if the task suits, some may join us within to disable traps and weapons within!
We must be quick, we must be brutal, but we must also show mercy to the slave bugs I have been warned of withing for they have committed no crime, in fact, I do plan to liberate those slaves if we are able! stars above know that Hallownest needs more bugs
We will fight! And we will win! ...Let's move...
*Lurien has only just barely finished his speech when series of loud booming... shots? gun shots? fire off close by and he has but a moment to dodge out of the way to avoid being hit*
[Lurien rolls 3d20 to defend: 14, 17, 19 = 50!]
[Lurien health 300/300]
*from the dust and steam rising from the landscape a large shape emerges. its body is long, smooth and slivery, equipped with a long segmented tail not unlike a scorpion and two large pincers. it moves with clanking grinding metal limbs and absolutely is not a real living bug. the City of Steel is well defended, and its gate guard has deemed it suitable to welcome its visitors...*
"Oh well. That's interesting." Dryya says and draws her weapon, furiously jumping from the cliff, sliding down the slope and attacking the mechanical beast with all the fury she could harness.
Xero starts to run, and starts going faster, and faster, until he jumps, and starts flying, coming full speed with two nails and slashes with both of them
*the Steel Automata reels from the blows, a mechanical whine screaming out over the dusty plains, loud enough for the ground to shake. it moves, quicker than its bulk might suggest, large pincers snapping out three times at random members of the party*
[The Steel Automata attacks Dryya, Glacier and Fyre!]
The Hunter had been selected as the one to front during the fight. She had brought her Silkshot, her Tacks, her Poison Pouch, and a few other tools. She was ready.
She drew her Silkshot from her cloak and fired upon the automaton, peppering it with shots.
Within moments, they juat allow their entire arm to gain flame, swatting the mechanism away before said fire (hah) comes right off of their arm and hits it.
*the automata curls into a ball, it's tail whipping around to deflect some of the shots*
[The Steel Automata rolls 17 to defend!]
[Steel Automata health 490/600]
*the automata screams, raising itself up, countless legs unfurling like a great flower of metal, each one buzzing with electricity before it slams into the ground twice, a shockwave of sparks and dust spilling out towards the full party*
[The Steel Automata rolls 11 + 2 to attack the whole party! total damage 13!]
This isn't right, this City is much smaller than it should be. And something feels off about all of this, where are the guards? What happened to the shifts? Did the City really change that much while he was gone?
Was he the reason everything changed?
DEW, MOVE.
Dew notices the shockwave too late and is knocked back by it.
[Dew rolled 2 to defend]
[Dew: 289/300]
Dew, now is not the time to break down. Focus on the battle.
Dew growls, quickly getting back up, raising his cannon, and firing it at the Automata twice.
*the automata weaves this way and that, body a fluid motion despite its size and bulk before it stops, head turning this way and that with mechanical clicks and clacks, its large glass eyes blinking out of sequence*

You would think that the guy who can literally teleport and has an armored shell on his head, not to mention is covered in Void armor gotten from the Void itself, would be excellent at avoiding or withstanding attacks...
ooc: i am confused but i will treat this like a block, you'll take 11 damage total
[The Steel Automata rolls 20 to defend!]
[Steel Automata health 431/600]
*rearing up an almost shimmering shield of energy seems to surround the automata before dissipating, blocking some of the incoming damage but tanking the rest, even as it hisses in a manner that could almost be called... angry... vents on its sides click open one by one and with a great howl of steam, it targets Uunvraxis and Lurien with a blazing gout of burning gas*
*he's able to take flight as the wave of sparks and dust rolls towards him but in his foolishness he neglects to look out for the blast of steam, taking a face full of scalding heat*
[Lurien rolls 2d20 to attack; 20 + 20, total 40 damage]
*despite the heat he is able to twirl his pin around, digging it into the joints between the metal monster's legs, feeling something crack, and for extra measure he seems to almost glow a brilliant golden orange before releasing a brilliant laser beam of pure sunlight with a pained roar. nothing, not this, not the fucking Shitworm, nobody is standing in his way!!*
(ROLLING! 2d20, 15 defense roll - shockwave dodged, 6 attack roll!)
The scent of blood alone was enough to hone on the hunt. And oh boy. Oh BOY.
There is nothing but the feral clawing of metal and a screaming, violent howl that sounds more wind than what it properly is. Luckily, the lack of visual does not last long, as the dust settles.
There is a blur of fur, claws, and teeth, as they charge directly to face the automaton, and the teeth are specifically aimed at legs and claws - they're looking to minimize the threat's movement.
Like they were truly hunting.
*the automata reels backwards, joints screaming, the stench of melting metal dripping from its ruined legs where Lurien had struck. it stomps around, mimicking panic, tail lashing to and fro*

[The Steel Automata does not attack this round as it is building energy]
Dryya had dodged and parried all attacks up to that point, except some of the dirt. It irritated her lungs and made her eyes water. [Don't remember what I rolled on the dice but it combined to 25.]
As she forced them open, she stares right into the barrel of a giant gun. She squeals and tries to get out of the way, cutting into a leg as she did.
Hornet fired off another shot with her Silkshot (20 damage), before approaching Uunvraxis and Baldwin. Silk flared from her as she healed Uunvraxis (Heals 5) and Baldwin (10).
After a moment and some decision making, Fyre just decides to deal with the damage they took earlier, each claw seeming hotter than branding irons for a moment before they fling more flames at the automata.
*the automata reels from the attacks, having stunned itself for a moment after firing its cannon. it sways this way and that sparking and fizzling but still raises its pincers to fire off three loud volleys of bullets*
*the automata skitters back, a sizable dent in its chest, its body sparking, battered and cracked and broken. for a moment its eyes flicker on and off. on and off again...*

@beast-queen-of-deepnest [you may now roll 5 d20s]
(ROLLING! Combat rolls ARE: 5, 13, 20, 13, and 5, for a total of 51!)
There is a… more or less, rapidfire mental flashbang of first the threat of an explosion, quickly followed up by Herrah dropping down from the ceiling, and-
They see an opening through the chaos, and the flickering of their own form kicks back up again, as they charge back into melee range, relentlessly snapping and biting at ANYTHING they can reach immediately. One lucky crunch was what they needed, and outside of near misses (that they QUICKLY remedied regardless), they were effectively mauling to the best of their ability.
The sound of howling wind rises - most likely by their own voice in between ripping and tearing off metal plating.
... But a face that she couldn't fully recognize, yet otherwise was familiar, appeared.
... Herrah.
Her mother.
... Eventually, though, her mind settled on an emotion.
Rage. Rage at that damn moth. Rage, rage, rage, for Lurien FAILING TO INFORM HER OF HER MOTHER'S LIVING.
Sorry, Mother, Hornet thought with fire in her heart. But it shall be me who kills that moth. Slowly. Painfully. Agonizingly. For failing to tell me that you yet lived!
She fired her Silkshot again, channeling her HATRED FOR THAT DAMN ONE-EYED PEEPING TOM into fury against the automaton.
*the automata thrashes, this way and that, buzzing, whirring, screaming out with a thousand garbled false voices before he stalks, stutters, chugs, and drops with a resounding clang. still, silent, and forcefully shut down…*

*from the depths of the sewers the great bloated fluke flails and gurgles, its great body slapping against the ground aggressively as it spits up globs of infection that sizzles on contact. the pale king dives out of the way, unable to even bring a barrier up between himself and the monster before he begins to feel lightheaded and woozy, his vision wavering.
one more scream, one more gurgle and rumbling attempt to dive towards him, to consume him has his pale form collapsing to the ground, his body and tail cured around Imperial who meeps in fear in his arms*

*the fluke flails this way and that, making disgusting sucking and slurping sounds as it slams its great head into the ground sending debris and garbage clattering across the arena*
Dryya had heard of what happened between the King and Lurien. Frankly, she didn't know they were even romantic to begin with, but that's beside the point. She tracked his majesty down through the waterways, a place much unsuiting for royalty. She reached the junkyard and saw him laying curled up around the baby wyrm. A knight was fighting a giant flukelord.
Dryya sighs and rushes in to claim its life. It tosses garbage at her, hitting her in the side. She defended 8 and then rushes to deliver some reckoning.
*the flukes hide is thick like jelly jiggling around the attacks; with each strike more infection oozes out like orange blood, splashing into the water. with a bellow the monster rears back and begins to spit up foul clumps, trying to cause whatever damage it can*
With quick thinking, George raises his nail and blocks most of the attacks with it like a shield.
Georges health 144/150
George starts rolling at the thing, but instead of hitting it, first seemingly missing, he instead ricochet from some garbage before landing on the monster with the full force of his shell like a boulder, rolling away before getting hit in retaliation
*the noises the damn thing makes, heavens the noises! it glugs and groans and squelches and just makes a disgusting mess of itself. flopping on to the ground to shovel food into its maw to begin spitting big chunks of rubbish into the air so they rain down in a hail of shrapnel*
The shrapnel is to much to block, but Dryya does a decent job. She blocked 7 damage. After the downpour of sharp metal and blunt objects, Dryya ignites her claw and sends a Soulfire spell at the enemy.
*clearly the fluke does not like the soulfire as it dances across its disgusting form and so distracted by the pale flames that lick at it they fluke is unable to attack with full force, only wiggling about angrily*
Health 346/400
Attack 2
[the fluke abomination is now burning for 4 turns! each of its turns it will take 5 extra damage!]
*the nail cuts through its flubber like a knife through butter but the thing is so large it hardly seems to notice as its hot infected blood splatters in great waves as it wiggles about*
*the fluke gurgles, swaying about before it seems to... sense something. something delicious something... yummy and bright and pale. with a loud gurgle of utter delight the fluke seems to ignore both george and dryya and dives directly towards that tasty snack bringing its full weight forwards as it tries to eat the pale king where he cowers in the debris uselessly*
*deprived of its tasty treat the fluke becomes increasingly enraged, heaving its body upon on to the shore to show off the full extent of its foulness. multiple smaller flukes seem to have been fused into one great mass, long tendrils of infection whip about wildly as it drags its glory out of the depths to fight on even ground*

As the knight she is, she slashes skillfully, practically dancing bt the fluke's side with her blade. 20 x 2 damage.
*the fluke writhes rolling its whole girth around, lashing its tail, spitting, hissing, coughing up goop and disturbing debris. from the corner of your eyes you can see the pale king just manage to get himself out of danger but it seems he's either biding his time or he's building up a spell*

The strength of Dryya's attack has stunned the fluke! It will skip its next turn (which means Dryya can attack immediately after George)
Dryya rused alongside him, just as he struck the fluke she used his back to leap off of and cut a score over the monster as she slid down the other side.
*there's orange everywhere. in the water. on the beast. dripping from its wounds. splattered across the debris field. but as it pools and pours it almost seems to be... evaporating? as if nothing is controlling it. as if it is nothing but a remnant of a long gone era. it is clear to see this is not part of some greater resurgance of the infection at large. tendrils burst from the things flesh, its cries become louder, pained, fearful. in this moment it is suffering and its misery makes it uncoordinated. its fat body just slapping on the ground*

*the fluke screams a horrible garbled scream thrashing about wildy, the cavern quakes and rumbles, parts of the stone cieling above begin to crumble and crash to the ground in great heaps of shattered rock and rubble. from behind you can see a brillaint flash of bright white, the telltale sign that the pale king is planning... something...*

Health 292/400
Attack 15
Burning damage 1/4 turns remaining
(with the fluke under 300 health you may now roll for double damage)
