a little peek into bightclan culture ! weddings :-)
in bightclan, weddings and unions are a very big deal ! even the poorest cats like to host their own little ceremonies amongst their smaller circles, even if it's nothing as extravagant or grand as the upper class cats.
it's common for cats to give each other a gift to wear permanently upon their marriage (and by common i mean one of those things where it's not necessary but highly frowned upon if no gift or gesture is given). some examples shown above include
aspenfrost & hemlockthorn with sea glass jewelry. knights are granted an official stone, collected from the shores or more risky areas of their territory, that they embed into their collar to signify their rank as well as partially protect their throats in battle. sea glass is a desired good in bightclan that mostly the royalty or the high upper class have access of, and therefore, most royalty/high nobility utilize sea glass in their marriage gifts. aspenfrost has sea glass the color of hemlocks eyes embedded into his collar, and likewise, hemlock has a necklace/chain with sea glass the color of aspens eyes.
scarletflight and albatrossclaw are both knights, and jewelry and accessories are ill advised for their position, lest someone snatch it during battle and use it to their advantage. instead, for their wedding, the two utilized fur stains (essentially a tattoo). scarletflight stained markings on his back the style of an albatross' wings, and albatrossclaw stained fur on her face a deep scarlet color after her partner's namesake
antlercall, living a comfortable life as a noble without having to worry about fighting like a knight, is free to wear accessories, especially with marrying into the royal family. carnationstripe gifted him a carnation encased in hardened sap as a brooch to wear, while antlercall gave her earrings that used pieces of an antler twine for her to wear
commoners and cats of lower social standing often don't have the means to get a hold of such items or accessories, and with how labor intensive their lives usually are, most of them opt to wear something a little more practical. most commoners in bightclan will fasten a ring out of whatever materials they can get to give to their partners, which are then worn in whichever way their partner pleases (worn on string/twine around their neck, as an earring, nose ring, in their fur, etc.)
