Traces the scar on his face gently.

     His initial desire to flinch away from the contact ( for what else was one to do when someone was suddenly making the move to touch their face?? ) was smothered down by the recognition of who was doing the touching, and his expression of vague annoyance morphed instead into a crooked, boyish smile. Damn, Maka really did have a habit of dwelling, didn’t she. 

     “What, admiring my rugged good looks from afar wasn’t doin’ it for ya anymore?”

     Oh jeez- oh shit- that wasn’t good. Maka’s arm slipped around his torso ( did she know how weirdly strong her skinny stick arms were?? ) and together they stumbled forwards a step, but it was hard to ignore the warm, oily leak of blood oozing from- what, a gash in his side? A jagged slice? A bite?? He wasn’t entirely sure; that thing must have done it when it had sent him flying through building debris, but he wasn’t able to analyse the extent of the injury from a quick downwards glance alone. In a positive turn of events, he couldn’t feel the gushing wound- but then again, that could have easily just been the adrenaline still pumping through his system from the fight.                                                                                               Or the shock. 

      Either or. 

     Another step, and his head felt lighter than it should have. Blood loss? Concussion? The pressure of the planet lifting as it realized it could no longer hold someone as great as he down?? Whatever. Unimportant. Right now he had to make sure Maka didn’t get all scared and upset and start crying or something. 

     “Haah, you’re gonna get your clothes all stained, ya’know.”

Gemstone headcanons !! 

Ruby: Do they typically keep their heart on their sleeve?

Pretty much! Black★Star doesn’t often see the value in hiding his emotions, and if he does it’s for very personal reasons. He does sometimes use his optimistic ( and very loud ) facade to cover up deeper and more troubling emotions, however, and there’s some stuff buried deep down there that he much prefers to keep to himself. Everyone has their baggage, after all. 

Sapphire: What makes them happiest? Is there a reason why?

His friends!! It’s cheesy, sure, but Black★Star doesn’t think there’s anything in this world that makes him happier than spending a day out with his friends! He also loves the rush of victory after a fight, but spending time with his friends is a more wholesome kinda happiness that he can spend an entire day dwelling in. 

Diamond: Do they find themselves getting sick often or do they have a relatively strong immune system?

You’ll never take him alive, cold!! Black★Star has a great immune system and an even stronger ability to soldier on when the going gets tough. Something as insignificant as a quick bout of the flu isn’t gonna take him down! It is, however, gonna make him contagious, and though he might be adamant in insisting that he’s fine to take on that mission or beat that guy up in a fight, everyone else around him doesn’t quite feel as invincible, and he oftentimes gets quarantined for the greater good. When he does finally succumb to an illness, he succumbs hard, and often ends up spending days in bed lamenting the tragedy of his untimely demise while Tsubaki makes him soup and keeps him company.

Gemstone Headcanons  !!

Kyanite: What is their temper like? 

Not the best. Though generally a pretty friendly and easygoing person, Black★Star has a tendency to go off  when he’s been baited/provoked. He’s not above shouting, throwing tantrums, breaking the school’s horns in an attempt to assert himself as a god literally above those that have wronged him, and starting physical fights in order to prove that he was the one in the right. Excalibur has the incredible talent of making him see red in .0003 seconds

Garnet: What are they most passionate about and who are they most devoted to?

Above all else, Black★Star is passionate about obtaining power on his quest to become a god, but when it comes to his devotions there’s nothing he holds in higher regards than his friends. ( the two kind of intersect, in a way; what better way to protect his friends than to surpass the strength of a human?? )

Ah right, I doodled these dongles last night! I told Hydok that I’d practice drawing the blue naruto for her, so I decided to test drive Manga Studio 5. I’m not sold on the default brushes but the inking tools in general have a really nice, dynamic feel to them.

Also can you believe that when I first experienced SE five years ago this goofball was my least favorite? He was just too big for me to handle at the time. I have sinned. I am sorry.
