All in?

What comes to your mind, when someone says the phrase “All in”? If it’s a sports reference or possibly a business reference it probably means something along the lines of giving maximum effort to either win the game or accomplish the task. However, in poker it means that you’re betting all your chips in order to win a hand or possibly the game. What would happen if we went all in for God? If life is a poker game and our chips are made up of our fears, need for saftey, control issues, worries, comforts and conveniences, and we finally come to the realization that we’re playing a game that er can’t possibly win on our own. So instead of continuing to play a game of futility we go all in and let God control the game, instead of having God behind us sugfesting what we sgould be doing and then ultimately making the decision that we think is best. It’s like many of are living life like we’re smarter than God, but how is that possible when God created us. We didn’t create God, he created us but yet somehow we have the audacity to think that we’re smarter and more well informed than the creator of the universe. We all need to get ovet ourselves and go all in for God. #AllIn2017

Everything is a choice.

Deflation.

Deflation has entered my mind, it’s not a comforting feeling that is for sure.  It’s bewildering, confusing and making you feel almost utterly unresponsive.  The thing about this feeling is that no one has anything to me personally.  It’s more my own response to people’s Apathy.  Make no mistake, Apathy is the disease that is destroying not just America as a country but the World.

People are so caught up in their own lives that they have a genuine lack of concern for what going to in the world around them.  Or they don’t know how to fix what’s going and they can’t find the time to do something about it.   

Over the past year, I’ve providentially found a number of songs that talks about seeing the problem and then fixing that problem.  One of these songs is “Fix my eyes” by For King and Country and the other of these songs is “DO Something” by Matthew West.  Both songs address Fixing the problems you see, but sadly the people that I know, either don’t see the problem , they do and they don’t care, they see it and don’t know how to fix it or see the problem  and can help fix it but somehow don’t have time to help fix it. 

I think that people just cling to your own lives and are unwilling to come to the end of themselves.  They are unwilling to help because they are scared and have a small view of God. 

I admit sometimes it’s hard not to have a small view of God, but God owns the cattle on a thousand hills.  He hung the earth perfectly where we are.  I pray a lot more than I ever had in the past, why, because things matter, people matter.  Sometimes it can seem like I’m asking for the impossible stuff of God, but nothing is impossible for God.  

Mark Batterson has said, “ the greatest tragedy in life is the prayers that go UNANSWERED because they go UNASKED.”

I believe that whole heartily, you with not get 100% of thing you don’t ask for.

I believe that God can change things, but he doesn’t simply because his people don’t ask him too.

The land of the living.

What drives you? What motivates you? What gives your life purpose? Do you have kids? If you have kids, why? If you don't have kids, why? The land of the living is the intersection of where questions about life intersect with life itself. What did you dream you were going to be when you were in high school? Did that dream change after high school? I'm a guy that's big on choices. Everything is a choice. I'm making a conscience choice to choose to write this blog at this precise time instead of doing anything else. I know I write a lot about choices but that's because its choices that effect everything. I believe in God, its a choice that I've made. I've also made the choice to allow him to be Lord of my life. That means that I ask him to guide my actions. I'm dependent on him for everything, because I don't have any answers to life but he knows all. Ultimately and I don't deny this its a pseudo hedging my bets that in the The Bible is true. ( I apologize if that didn't exactly make a ton of sense, it did in my mind.) The truth is that it is never to late to change everything in your life for the better. I don't know you I don't know your circumstances, but I do know that you are just one prayer away for changing your life for ever. All you got to do is pray, make the choice. Heavenly Father, I'm broken. I don't know what to do, I don't know where to turn but I know I need you. I know I can't do it on my own and I ask you to be lord of my life. I love you and I thank for everything. I ask these things in Jesus name. Amen.

Tidings of Comfort and Joy, maybe.

It's Christmas eve, in the year 2015. I've grown a great deal this year and I'm grateful for that. I think back on years prior and think about how little I changed in those years and it's scary. Scary to think of how I was just letting life pass me by. Have you changed this year ? If so how, I'd love to know what's happend in your life to change it. I think back on where I was last year at this time and I'm much happier this year. I know what I'm supposed to be doing with my life. It is a tremendous feeling, to actually have some direction. I think about my family, friends and associates. I worry about their spiritual lives, about with they allow to compromise or corrupt themselves. I know that earlier this year I had to make a conscious choice between something they I've loved to collected my whole life and allowing that to continue to cloud my life or choosing a life of freedom. I choose the freedom, but I worry about the people that aren't able to make that choice or a similar choice for whatever reason. I worry about folks that allow past mistakes to control where they are now and who they've become. Make no mistake it's never so late to change your life for the better. It starts with asking God to forgive you and then forgiving yourself. Everything is a choice. Your always one choice away from changing your life for ever. James 1:17

Roll the dice.

It has come to my attention that I need to change some things. To that end, I’ve decided to make some changes in my life both food related and personal.

For most of my adult life I’ve tried to “Live like you were dying”, and for a while I was satisfied with eating and drinking basically whatever I wanted whenever I wanted.  The problem with that is eventually you begin to struggle with every day stuff.  Stuff as simple as tying a shoe or buttoning your pants become very real, everyday struggles.  If you’re into life being a struggle more than it already is then I guess that’s ok.  However, for myself life is already too much of a struggle as it is and adding even more struggle to that just seems counter productive.

So I’ve decided to “Roll the dice” and change.  To stop eating everything I want just because I can.  So the problem is that I’m not good at discipline.  For me, discipline is a very real and personal struggle because I feel that when I was child my parents never actually taught me what personal discipline was or why it was relevant.  So now I get the joyous task of trying to teach myself to be disciplined.  If you could pray for me, I’d appreciate it.  He knows my name.
