Dream sat down on a rock a few feet away from George and folded his arms, something in his taut posture warning George that he was just barely holding everything in.

“So. What now?”

He asked with forced calm, mask angled towards one of the small pools.

George caressed the leaf thoughtfully, allowing its peace and stubbornness to live bleed into his own veins. There had been no other paths on the tunnel that led to here, and the way they’d come had been blocked by a warden. The chances of finding another way out back in its lair without dying were next to nothing.

And what did that leave? Staying down here with the man he was supposed to kill? The man who’d tried to kill him multiple times? As unenjoyable it sounded, he supposed there weren’t really any other options. But he had to hope.
