Aside from the comparison of Kaeya and Lohen treatment in fandom, do you think Kaeya is treated in other unfair ways (because of racism) in the narrative? I sometimes see people say that Kaeya is treated by traveler and others as being overly sus(picious), and I've heard that Kaeya has been somewhat sidelined in recent Mond content, though I haven't played most of these events in the recent patches.
mmm, while genshin is OBV colorist in presentation, i wouldn't say narrative treats characters of color worse. Like when they do exist, they get love, like Dehya and Cyno are absolutely pivotal for sumeru plotline, Xinyan got random summer pre-sumeru event with GORGEOUS domain for her deep psychological exploration when she has like 3 fans, but they still did it, etc. So I'd say the problem is that the design stage just doesn't let them make more characters of color, but when they get thru, writers don't treat them worse, at least I don't remember any cases of that
Kaeya specifically is the best written character in Mond, and one of the best written in the game. He is THE ONLY one who has both story quest and hangout, and his hangout is one the best written pieces in game period, competing mb only with scara who has ten thousand archon quests and simulanka. Like yes, paimon is shitty to him, but paimon is shitty to many likable characters, and traveler always has option to talk about him favourably and brings him up in random conversations fondly. He appears in Archon quest and traveler can tell him I miss u, baby <3
And like, even when fandom treats him horrible and casts him as handsome flirt, but shallow and evil, game goes against it all the time, showing that he cares, like in hangout or in summer klee event. Like I would say writers are biased towards Kaeya if anything
about latest Mond content, thats Paralogism, which is about Albedo and IS BAD, Kaeya still has big role as Albedo's advocate, and in Varka's SQ, which is about Varka and IS BAD, Kaeya again has big role as one of three pillars of Mond's future, EXPLICETELY. Like yes, he's not the main character, but it'd be weird to to demand him to be main character in every single mond related content?
overall Kaeya is Hamlet of geshin, he's heavily associated with theater, both in his hangout and in klee summer event where he gets his skin as part of theater performance, and through that, to 4th wall breaking meta commentary and also to the Khaenriah's theme of defying fate, which he brings up in his monologue where he also quotes Shakespeare. so tbh i don't see narrative being racist to him, even if fandom is NO DOUBT is
