She is something so rare that there’s no name for it, an absolutely unfrightened woman whose heart never went wrong. And her hunger to give love, her intensity and inner magnetism – it’s all there. And she cannot help any of it.

tully, casimir & mellara
.
so much had changed in the lives of the mellara tully over the past few years. amazing experiences, heart break, grief, a birth of a child, the loss of a parent. things never seemed like they could just stay the same. stay constant in what was happening. what could never change was the support of her siblings. she knew she would not have made it through half the things she did without them by her side. her trio who saw her through the worst of it all. elyse, her twin, her other half who stood by her side as she married the love of her life. who hugged her tightly when she was taken from her and who held her hand when she brought lucian into the world. and her brother casimir who was there with her during the attacks on dragonstone. the two of them who stood together as they were on trial for their fathers crimes. there was so much only they could understand about her. and how much more free they all were now without the looming presence of grover tully over them all.
but it was not always the hard parts of her life she shared with the two of them. there were countless joyful moments they shared growing up. the three hardly ever being seen apart from one another. during times when some older brothers might push aside their younger sister, casimir was never like that. she never felt unwanted by either of them. never unloved.
part of her could not understand why he left without saying anything to her. after all they had gone through…. it hurt to know he left like that. but there was some explanation there. some reason to wait and hope he would be back soon. she hated to wait but it would be worth to see him again.
the air around the twins was filled with laughter as they enjoyed a small moment of joy between them. their sister was returned safety back to them. it was reason enough to smile. mellara was deep in a story she had heard when she saw elyse’s eyes travel to someone behind her. cas. dark eyes widened as she heard the name and she whirled around to see if it was true. she could hardly believe it. without another word she was racing across the floor with her sister. her arms thrown around him the moment she could reach him. “you’re really here? how? why? are you okay? i….” she had no idea what to say.
𓆟
It was almost like Casimir had been holding his breath since the moment he’d finally found himself in the bitter cold of the North. His chest tight, shoulders tense, mouth formed into a thin, hard line – mind reeling and racing with everything that needed to be done, who he needed to speak to, alliances that needed to be re-solidified, new ones that needed to be made. But that breath eased ever so slightly at the sight of his younger sisters rushing to meet him. The hair they each shared shown like liquid heat in the torch light – though Casimir’s, in truth, had taken on a color closer to rust as the months had trickled by – and it was an almost painful reminder of what it was like to be home again.
To be whole again.
He caught the pair of them in his arms, one around each as he crushed them to his chest and felt the breath loosen in his lungs. Not all the way, but enough – enough that he could feel the faint prick of emotion in the corners of his eyes as he pressed a kiss to each of their hairlines, lifting them both ever so slightly off the ground like he’d once done when they were children.
His little fish, safe and sound despite that he’d had to leave them to deal with his own disappointment.
He hesitantly placed them both back on the ground, pulling back far enough to cradle Elyse’s face in one hand while using the other to smooth a hand down Mellara’s hair. Seeing them together? Part of Casimir had long since thought he wouldn’t again. If he hadn’t been given his birth right after such a strange set of circumstances, Casimir wondered if he’d have ever returned to Westeros, let alone see his family all in one place again.
“I’m alright,” He insisted, the hard line of his mouth flashing only the faintest of smiles as he reassured his sister. He must have looked so strange o them, now – face hardened, body stronger… the twinkle of mischief all but missing from his eyes. “I, well…” He sighed, finally stepping out of the embrace to rub the back of his neck and sigh heavily. “I heard the news, and… and I suppose it was time to see if father’s crown fits after all.” It was hard, talking to them after such a long time – to be so different than he was when he’d left them.
⤳
THE TWO WERE QUICK and overpowered by their delight, so much so, that they had no time to smooth their steps. at least, elyse did not. and so she all but knocked into her brother, arms wrapped around him and her sister tightly. so much so that she feared for her own lungs. their brother was home. casimir was finally home. there was a traitorous sense of disbelief, almost like it was too good to be true. as though he would disappear at any given moment. yet, as a kiss is pressed to her hairline and her feet leave the ground, she is utterly convinced that he is not going anywhere.
there’s a delicate smile comfortably laced on heart shaped lips, a hand moving to cup her brother’s hand gently, a reassuring pat following before her other hand lifts to catch the tear that had slipped from one of his eyes. a lightness mirrored in her own orbs and yet... he was different. she could tell that he had changed, in his own way. matured, perhaps.
it made her sad that he had gone through hardships alone but maybe that was what he had needed all along and... she could never stand in the way of her brother’s happiness. far too selfless when it came to her own blood. ❝ have you just arrived ?? ❞ she adds after he replies to mellara, suddenly worried. had he taken care of himself on the way here ?? had he eaten ??? was he hydrated ?
oceanic orbs remain locked on his features, pinpointing the slight differences in the mental image she had of him last. grown, he looked much more grown. the king of the riverlands, the true king. a brother lost and another returned... was she allowed to be happy ?? loving casimir did not mean she did not love cian, the relationships were different - the bond was different. ❝ i am so happy to have you back, big brother. ❞ she meant it, regardless of his crown - elyse was only happy to see him. ❝ father had a massive head, i doubt his will do you any justice. perhaps, you deserve your own crown, trout king. ❞

The curt tone coming from the red haired woman is to be expected but as Olyvar looks up from where his gaze had been fixed on his hound to find the lady’s own he is taken aback by the icy stare she fixes him with. Still, he puts aside the unease he feels at being leveled with such a glare over what boils down to clumsiness and bad timing and he apologizes once more, under his breath. Magnus growls at his side and barks, clearly impatient to get back to his walk. “I-I had to catch him before he ate this poor man’s entire barrel.” He explained, gesturing sheepishly to the fishmonger’s turned over barrel now emptied of at least two of its fishes. He’d have to compensate the man before making his way back to the settlements. “I didn’t hurt you, did I?” He checked, eyeing her for signs of injury.

DEEP DOWN INSIDE, WHEREVER THE true aspects of elyse tully had settled, she felt bad for being so... cold. the present her, however, cared very little if at all when registering the initial shock in the other’s light hues. eyebrows further deepen into a frown, the first telltale sign that she was not warming up to him despite his attempts. ❝ perhaps if you would have minded him to begin with... he would not have ate that poor man’s barrel. ❞ accidents happened, she knew that and yet... elyse cannot help being so... rude. lithe frame moves to walk away but stops, stiff when he speaks again. ❝ no. ❞ comes the dry response, gaze mirroring her newfound impatience.
tully, casimir and mellara
𓆟 He’d been getting little faint inklings of information – mostly from Cedric, whom he’d practically stumbled into on the winter swept road – since he’d arrived in Borrowtown. There was his father’s death, of course, and the painful, gut-wrenching blow that had been Cian’s legitimization as heir and king, but that had seemed to only be the beginning. Casimir had vanished, and it almost seemed like some sort of awful domino effect. The Weirwoods in danger, mad pirates raving about shadows, the death of a dragon – the man who had more or less always been a king, – kidnappings running wild… his own elder sister, Wylla, one of the victims. A trial looming on the frozen horizon. And, all the while… Casimir had been worlds away dealing with his own shadows. The shadows of his father, of the betrayal, about how he’d truly been shit all to the puppet of a man who had been Grover Tully. It seemed as if more had happened in the six months of his absence than the entirety of the war.
And the war – the one that had changed everything for Westeros – had lasted ten long years. The time he’d been gone was a mere fish in a school of hundreds, and the idea of it all made his limbs feel like the water they swam through.
But Casimir Tully had never been an anxious man. Rather, he’d once been carefree, childish, and always seeking out the next adventure or source of fun – and while the boy had melted away into the man that now stood on the dock of the Tully encampment (if one could call the miniature floating city such a thing) that fact still stood. He was eerily calm despite the obscene amount he’d learned in the very few hours he’d been back in the thick of Westerosi politics and intrigue. Wylla had been safely returned – and the pair of elder Tullys would be needing to have a talk eventually, but that was best left for when she’d gotten her bearings – but Casimir could only find himself thinking of the twins. If they were safe, warm, if they were alright. His little sisters. Of Elyse and Mellara, whom he’d once been all but joined at the hip with despite the differences of their ages.
The idea that the two young women might hate him for leaving? If he was ever going to be anxious, it was about that awful thought. But he didn’t show it as he pushed aside door, the chill of the North air quickly consumed whole by the warmth of torches within the floating space. There was a table, there, at the center – and two red headed girls caught up in conversation that seemed to vanish into nothingness the moment his broad, tall frame stepped within. He didn’t look much like the boy that had left them behind. He’d gained weight, his body stronger, his skin more calloused. His eyes were shadowed, and his hair was growing closer to his ears in that way their father had always hated. He could finally grow a decent beard – in short, Casimir looked like he’d been gone six years rather than six months.
“Long time no see, little fish.” He said, almost quietly, as he pulled a thick fur from around his neck. “There wasn’t time to send a raven.”

WHILE THE ROYAL FAMILY OF the riverlands was quite large, some were still closer than others. vastly outnumbered by women, riverrun often spewed with giggles and swaying skirts. that is... while the trout king was nowhere near the perimeter of the castle. the heir of the throne had always been casimir tully, her big brother. the one that was raised by her and mellara’s side. only two were twins and yet... had it not been for their age difference, everyone was positive they could have been triplets. the rest of her siblings were much older than even casimir - grown and with their own responsibilities. different stages in their lives, different goals, different accomplishments. mellara, casimir and elyse, however, they had gone through life together. grown up, together.
that is, until casimir vanished. the boy who would be king and suddenly... was not. elyse was no fool, she understood how cheated he felt. of course, she would never truly feel or understand his feelings. and still she tried. both her and mellara had tried. we can make it through anything so long as we remain together. family. always above all else. she had failed to understand him when he had left, tear stained cheeks glancing back at the empty wardrobe in her brother’s room. dainty hands clinging to her twin’s. they had mourned his absence, they had prayed for his wellbeing and... more than that, they had hoped for his return.
the youngest of the clan was not mad at her brother, entirely unable to resent him for the way he chose to mourn his life. still, she had struggled to accommodate to the lack of him. perhaps he had spoiled his sisters in always being around. at least, perhaps, elyse. it was when he left that she realized how often she turned to him. it was when he was not there that she realized how badly she needed him to be. oceanic orbs remain fixed on her twin as the red head speaks, chin rested delicately on the palm of her hand. they had grown so much since their father’s passing. mellara seemed much more... free. something that would endlessly urge a smile onto the doll like features of elyse.
hues stray, settling on the door as it was forced open. then... ❝ cas. ❞ the nickname flows from heart shaped lips effortlessly, second nature. gaze settles back on the darker orbs of her twin sister for a moment longer before it suddenly dawns on her. her expression changes, entirely, bright. ❝ casimir. ❞ lithe frame is on her feet before she can even process her own actions, all but running in his direction.

Weaving through the crowd, one hand on the leash of his hound Olyvar made his way through the marketplace. Finding the grounds surrounding the settlements he and his fellow Westerlanders to be lacking for the dog to exercise he’d made his way to the woods but found that he tired far quicker than his four legged companion and was making his way back to his quarters through the market with the intention of picking up a trinket for his sister. He’d yet to come up with a proper gift to congratulate Calla on her betrothal to Lord Hightower and no doubt he’d be travelling back soon and the opportunity would evade him. As he stopped in front of a jeweler’s stand, he felt a sudden tug on the leash and held up a hand to silence the hound only for the animal to pull even harder, running off and straight into the nearest fish monger’s stand. Running after the dog, Olyvar found it already savaging the man’s merchandise and he scrambled to take hold of its leash and pull it back again, shoulder checking a red haired woman as he did so. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you there.” He apologized, out of breath.
DELICATE FEATURES HAD HARDENED ever since the cold began to multiply. her silence was no longer comforting, rather... harsh and judgemental. much like the words she was recently speaking. oceanic orbs, once gentle and warm had - too, hardened to mirror ice. suddenly a shade lighter. everything about her had stirred and... elyse had no idea why. bitterness, resent, anger. they had long since wrapped themselves in her. she is not at all aware of her surroundings, caught in silent hatred. and still, as a strong shoulder shoves against her own, she stiffens. ❝ clearly. ❞ the red headed princess snaps, glare finding the other.
