[dbhc au flavored] Hermit A Day May '26, Day 9: Favorite “Event” — Don’t Let It Reach The Heart

HI UH. So I was wracking my brain about what to do for today, because there are just so many good hc moments I could draw dbhc-style, but I realized it could be really fun to redraw a previous dbhc moment? As a sort of, ‘what’s my favorite thing that’s happened in dbhc so far?’ And there were SOOO many good thoughts friends and I came up with while combing back through the au Masterpost, but in the end, I’m just. So so crazy about DLIRTH, the fic I wrote that follows the Destruction Comic series. Something about how Destruction puts these guys in such a vulnerable and desperate position… idk man. It just gets me so bad. They make my tummy hurt. You understand.

I feel so bad for both of them genuinely. EX seems to be messing with Xisuma's mind somehow but he's clearly afraid/worried about something himself :<

YEAH. This narrative is so fun and interesting and complex to me, because really it is awful for both of them, in the end at least.

Android 24 (EX) is clearly the “Villain” here, but it’s becoming clear to the audience that he’s got some deep-seated fears or negative experiences that fuel this intense and manipulative cruelty. It really does feel like a little kid bully who’s gotten his angry hands around some seriously dangerous power, and he’s being more cruel than he probably realizes because he doesn’t know how else to make himself feel better. As a friend and I are always saying about him, this is a guy who wants something. Don’t ask him what it is though because he wouldn’t be able to tell you. But he wants it, badly, and is about to be really, really upset when this whole thing doesn’t magically fix him, or make his hurt go away, or make him feel magically better.
