Can yall find that one AGGGTM YouTube Video that was a theory about Andie Bell being pregnant?? It was a 5-10(??) minute video and the thumbnail was Andie Bell shushing Pip with a yellow arrow pointing to her with the word “PREGNANT?” It was made back when Season 1 was released so I can’t find it anymore.

I really wish I saved it because it was the funny shit I’ve seen in this fandom and it wasn’t even internal because BRO WAS BEING DEADASS😭😭😭

So I just finished season 2 of Live Action Avatar The Last Airbender while ALSO rewatching the original cartoon Season 2 for the third time.

Honestly, I feel like people are overhating a bit. Yeah really. ATLA fans are acting like this is the worst adaptation to ever exist. While it is unnecessary, it’s not abysmal. It’s not even that bad: it’s just mid.

In fact, the first half of the season was pretty good for me. I didn’t know what the haters were talking about at this point.

And then I reached Episodes 6-7…..yikes.

Honestly the major complaint I have about this season is that it felt like it was written BACKWARDS. In the cartoon, they go into the library and Appa gets captured and THEN they go into Ba Sing Se. In the Live Action, it’s the other way around. It felt like they weren’t in any rush to see the king, and technically they weren’t since they didn’t even know the date of the Solar Eclipse until later in the season!

Other than that, the live action is ok. I’ve seen worse adaptions(AGGGTM Season 1 takes the cake!) Though that’s probably because NATLA Season 1 has been wiped from my memory. Seriously, I don’t remember anything from it. I should probably rewatch it😅

AGGGTM IS GETTING AN ILLUSTRATED RELEASE AND DAMN DO I HAVE OPINIONSSSSSSSS AHHHHHHHHHH

Ok so I must say that the art style I’m honestly not a fan of. Yeah I knew I seemed excited from the top, but that’s for a different reason. Most of the characters don’t look like their book descriptions NOR their show descriptions. Idk I feel like it couldn’t been illustrated differently, but maybe I’m just a fucking stickler. Yeah call me a Killjoy(pun intended) XD.

What I AM excited of is that apparently there’s “exclusive new content”. I’m not sure if they’re referring to the illustrations or if they actually added new scenes. If it’s the latter then HOLY SHIT I AM SO HAPPY AGHHHHHHHHHH.

I could inhale copium and say that they include more Sal x Andie and even some POVs of them, but once again: too much copium. I must put the wishful thinking aside. I think they might show more of Pip’s & Ravi’s relationship and maybe more of the other characters? Maybe a scene of Pip waking up in the hospital after Becca tried to kill her. Or maybe illustrated FLASHBACKS OF SAL AND ANDIE- Okay I’ll stop now.

When you're writing about a character, do you also have a tab open of your pinterest with pins of them in it, and after describing a few scenes or writing a bit of dialogue and conversations, you flip to the pinterest tab, look at them for like 5 seconds, and then chuckle and go "Yeah, they'd do that." or shake your head and go "Nah, rephrase." or am I crazy.

Genuinely same. This is why I’m so strict with fanfiction because the whole reason I’m interacting with my favorite piece of media is BECAUSE of how it’s written. Of course, this isn’t the case all the time and doesn’t apply to medias I see many problems in. If I make headcanons, then they STRICLY have to match canon somehow.

I know the whole point of fandoms are to freely express our opinions and explore different scenarios and ideas of the medias we love. Yet there are some cases in which I would love to see more of content that is HIGHLY SIMILAR TO CANON. My brain is just by-the-book like that. I don’t overly judge over other people’s headcanons(at least not anymore), but I feel the need to strictly justify my headcanons with canon —otherwise it would just be fanon AND missing the point of the original.

Charlie Greene vs Stanley Forbes is so wack

At least, in the books. In the AGGGTM show, it's fairly one-sided. Since Stanley wasn't in Season 1, he isn't a racist jounalism defaming an Indian boy and his family while framing a white serial killer as "purely lovesick". (I kinda already ranted about Stanley Forbes here if you haven’t seen it already.) Instead, he is introduced in Season 2 as a security guard at a golf club who is mistreated by his boss and everyone should feel sympathy for him. Literally. He acts like such a “cutie patootie”, it's obvious that the show wants you to sympathize with him as an innocent baby bean man. And we actually should, since he didn't do anything wrong in the show. He was a victim of his serial killer father and he is trying to start a new life by himself, a life he actually spent well in the show.

(The show made Stanley higher on the moral spectrum than Salil Singh and that's honestly crazy to me ToT)

Now we have Show!Charlie Greene. He has the same role he does in the books: he helps the main character Pip discover her true self and realize how corrupt the justice system is and that she should take matters into her own hands. And that she doesn't have to be likable since she knows she's trying to do the right thing --even if her methods are......oof. What differs is when he confronts Stanley. He claims he'll kill him out of revenge for his sister and then does it. No reason to like him I suppose.

But in the books it's a bit different. When he holds Stanley(and ONLY Stanley, Cara isn't even at the scene here) at gunpoint, he tells us his backstory.

Yes, he may have gone a bit too far, as he literally waited 19 years to kill him. But the Brunswicks ruined his life. Of course it’s not entirely Stanley’s fault, but Scott Brunswick was already dead. Charlie followed the typical trope of avenging a loved one’s death while also avenging the life he lost(more on this later). He’s been grieving, and it’s perfectly understandable why he wanted to kill Stanley. Hell even Stanley himself understood why. It’s a morally grey argument on both sides and the books CLEARLY emphasize this. Throughout the third book, it’s Pip sympathizing for both Stanley Forbes AND Charlie Greene, along with the moral spectrum. It’s brilliantly realistic writing and I hoped that the fandom would understand that. Especially since people usually root for the character that avenge their loved ones.

However, the fandom did something special. Something I’ve never seen. They’ve somehow ignored that typical trope and demonized Charlie Greene ENTIRELY, acting like he could never be defended, while woobifying and acting like Stanley was a pure angel and ignoring ANY nuance in the situation whatsoever. SOMEHOW. The books didn’t tell the fandom to do this. Holly Jackson didn’t tell the fans to do this(at least not until the show came out). No one told the fandom to miss the point entirely, the fandom just did it.

Welp. TADC finale was mid imo. Jax being trans is canon. Honestly surprising but I don’t really care much about the Jax show anymore. I just wish the energy put into Jax was put into the other characters.

Okay so I just finished AGGGTM SEASON 2 and I’ll post my full opinion eventually.

Though I do have a doubt: I thought we were going to see a younger version of Ravi since I saw an Instagram post of Zain Iqbal with fake acne for a scene. I also thought it would be a flashback to Ravi & Sal since this season is about Ravi coming to terms with his guilt with Sal.

I’m still confused on that ToT

Nevermind. Now we know that Season 3 has already been filmed. Not very surprising because of this post lol.

I wonder what this flashback of Ravi will be about. Him getting bullied? A memory of Sal? A memory of ANDIE --which makes sense because in the books he recalled Andie talking about her dad to Sal? Maybe Ravi used to take drugs(hence why he knew so much about drugs in the first season for some damn reason)? Or maybe it’s about the “row” the Sal and Ravi apparently had in Season 1 before Sal died. Or maybe it's not really a flashback and only lasts for 10 seconds with no dialogue. I can't inhale too much copium now.

I mean if they're making Zain himself act as teenage Ravi instread of getting a random child actor to do it, then I guess the flashback wouldn't last that long </3

Hey so here's an observation I found in AGGGTM:

Andie's mom is Dawn Bell. Sal's mom is Nisha Singh.

"Dawn" is described to be the first appearance of daylight. So basically the morning.

"Nisha" is Sanskrit, which translates to night or nighttime.

The Bell family and the Singh family are like day and night.

What makes this more interesting is that Andie Bell died at night and Sal died in the morning. They died in the opposite settings of their mother's name, showing how the truth in their story is skewed and covered up.

Ngl I think the Mitski song “Your American Girl” fits best with this concept of Sal and Andie, ESPECIALLY SAL LIKE OMGGG IF I COULD DRAW GOOD THEN I WOULD MAKE AN ANIMATIC

Oh and for those wondering if the same applies to Nisha & Leanne(Pip's mom)?

AGGGTM Book HOT TAKE:

I do NOT care for Stanley Forbes.

Jack Brunswick? Yeah he deserves sympathy.

David Knight? Well we don’t know much of that phase so maybe.

Stanley Forbes? Nah✌🏼

I’m not saying he deserved to die, but it’s so annoying seeing the fandom, and even the show itself, infantilize and woobify the guy as if he didn’t use his journalism career to spew his racist ideologies to turn a town against an Indian family and ruin their life for 5 years.

Yes I know that Stanley formally apologized to the Singh family, but it still doesn’t change that he’s racist.

YES I UNDERSTAND that the reason why Stanley defamed Sal in the first place his because he was self-projecting his own dad onto Sal and thought that Sal was just like his dad —even though Sal’s crimes were ALLEGED and bro didn’t even do it.

And to that I say……..

THE DT KILLER WAS RIGHT THERE.

In the first book, Stanley literally compared Sal to the DT Killer and clearly claimed that Sal, an Indian boy who ALLEGEDLY killed his girlfriend, was worse than the DT Killer, a LITERAL serial killer who has killed 5 women plus other crimes. Why? Because he’s racist.

Look, I’m not saying that Stanley is entirely bad and that his death was deserved. Yes, he had a tragic childhood as Jack Brunswick with his father. His whole character arc was that he was better than his father. And while he was, he was also incredibly flawed. He had a chance to reform his identity as Stanley Forbes, and he used that identity to be a corrupt, racist journalist. He’s morally grey, and I’m sick of the fandom acting like he(and other characters in this book) are “100% pure angel baby beans🥺”.

Show Stanley though, oh yeah he deserves sympathy. Only because they felt the need to woobify him in the show because the fandom can’t handle morally complex characters.

I’ll make a brief part two on the Charlie Greene and Stanley Forbes conflict as well. I just wanted to get this out real quick.

The official AGGGTM Instagram accounts and BBC just posted the Season 3 has already been done filming.

And it’s ONLY 4 EPISODES????

As Good As Dead: The biggest, thickest book in the whole series…..

….is only 4 episodes long.

Now, I loved Season 2, I really do. Though it did have its tiny flaws. And one of those flaws were that it was too short, as it was only 6 episodes long. I really feel like the plot could’ve been stretched out more and that we could’ve gotten more moments with specific characters(*cough* RAVI *cough*). I won’t deny that Holly did a fantastic job with adapting the whole book into 6 episodes. WAY BETTER than Season 1 could ever do(still salty about that btw).

This especially intrigues me since I thought elements of Season 1 would be added into Season 3. But I’m saving that for another post.
