THE HISTORY POINTS:

Magnus and Cynthia’s relationship was always meant to be short-lived. As charismatic and affectionate as Magnus is, his attention never really stayed all that long. The two met while Magnus was working in Mexico and fell hard for each other. They eloped and moved back to Magnus’ home in Scotland. Looking back, Cynthia knew that she was a bit of a fool that Magnus would give up his vices now that they were married but for the first few years, in Cynthia’s mind they were happy.

Greer’s birth, in the end, probably didn’t help things. Magnus’ infidelities only amplified their problems until one day Magnus -- tired of all the fighting -- simply just left after Greer’s sixth birthday. He filed for divorce by end of that year. The rest of Greer’s childhood was spent going between each parent and always picking up after her mother whenever she returned back to her.

It wasn’t a surprise that Greer received an acceptance letter from her father’s alma mater, Hogwarts. Cynthia hadn’t wanted Greer to go but knew of the consequences if Greer didn’t learn how to use her magic. So, off to school Greer went, along with her half brother. Once there, she was sorted into Hufflepuff after a long deliberation. But she felt at home among the badgers and made a few friends there.

Flying quickly became her favorite past time, and soon she became absolutely obsessed with Quidditch. She managed to make the team in her third year as Hufflepuff’s seeker and worked very hard at it as the years went by at school. Her school life and home life started to feel like two different lives. The more cynical her mother got, the more Greer longed to be at Hogwarts and she honestly felt guilty about that knowing that she was all her mother had.

Fifth year was when everything changed. The attack at Hogwarts shook her to her core and that was when she decided to wanted to help the ones that were being persecuted-- the ones most like her mother. 

Upon graduating, Greer was recruited by the Holyhead Harpies and after a year of being on the team, she became their main seeker during games.

♕ ---- Greer finished taking her hair out of the two braids that she had it in and combed her fingers through the waves as she made her way to where she had spotted him. “Well, you are the enemy,” she teased. “Well thank you, have to be ready for the next match.” She slipped on her coat. “What brings you all the way to the Harpie Hen house?”

“I’m gonna go with sad.” Tilly commented, thinking about how her Aunt’s shop is currently open as they speak. “Everyone just goes on the next day like nothing even happened.”

♕ ---- Greer frowned as she looked around before she had a taste of her strawberry ice cream. “I’m not sure if it’s impressive how all the businesses went back to work or sad because everyone is just so use to it by now,” she commented after a moment of thought.

“It’s them. Of course it’s the party of the year,” Jackson replied in a bored voice, leading her towards the door. “But getting away from everyone does sound good. There’s way too many people in there.”

♕ ---- Greer followed and once they were out in the fresh air, she undid the ribbon that held up her mask. “Feels like the whole wizard world squeezed themselves into that room,” she said with a chuckle. “We probably could get some cheap tickets to see any band right now because everyone is here for this instead.”

“God – why are there so many people here,” he breathed, maneuvering himself through the crowd. “You want to grab a drink and step outside for a little bit? I need air.”

“That whole reaction better be because I said you were attractive and not because I said my dad would,” he said, in feigned exasperation, as he slid in across from her. Jackson snorted, looking up at her over the top of the menu he skimmed as if he was getting anything else than what he usually did. “I will neither confirm nor deny that statement.” He smirked and sat his menu aside, giving her his full attention. With a shrug, he said, “I don’t know. Maybe like sports medicine.” He leaned back in his seat to look at her. “But that’s the issue with having narcissists as your dad. You do something you think will piss them off, and they find a way to make it about them.”

♕ ---- Greer looked over at him, amused, before she nodded. “Yes, that was from you saying that I was attractive and not about your father. I have daddy-issues but they’re not that bad.” She placed in her order when the waitress came back around and made sure to get herself a mimosa. “I’m just taking you’re lack of an answer that you agree, no way around it,” she teased. She nodded at his answer. “I think you’d make a great sports healer,” she commented before she thought over her own question. “I’d probably be like mum and go into teaching. Little kids are a riot and I’m on the same maturity level so we’ll get along.” she chuckled. “You got that right. I don’t even think Da has noticed that Will isn’t even talking to him at the moment. At least not until he’s absolutely forced to.”

“You came to practice hungover,” he repeated, lowering his wand to give his daughter a look. “You want the lecture now or after?” Magnus rolled his eyes and performed the necessary tests. “You could have gotten a lot worse than concussed, Greer. Which you somehow aren’t. It’s just a bump and bruise.”

She had survived in worse conditions than a slight headache during practice but it was no use to say that. “Well, it sounds like you’ve already started the lecture so I guess the choice is now,” she remarked and looked up at him. “But thank you for checking me out,” she added with a shake of her head.

He’d been about to kiss her cheek on his way past her, but she’d moved her hair before he could. Magnus raised an eyebrow as he pulled back, looking down at his daughter. “Back of the head and you have a bruise on the front?” He questioned, bringing her over to sit down so he could check her. “You sure you didn’t actually fall off your broom?”

She waited for his nurse to leave before she pushed back her hair to reveal the bruise that was on her temple. “I took a bludger to the head at practice,” she explained softly. “The assistant coach just wants to make sure I’m not dealing with a concussion.”

“Get in my Dad’s good graces. He’ll extend it. You’re young and attractive. Wouldn’t be that hard.” He rolled his eyes, letting her apparate them, before continuing their conversation. Jackson wrapped his arm around her shoulders once they were there and started towards their usual place. “Yeah, yeah. I know. Stop dragging my feet, right?” He winked, moving his arm only to open the door for her once they got there. “Honestly, though? No idea. I knew I was going to play quidditch from the time I could walk pretty much. If I didn’t actually like it as much as I did, I’d bitch about it being forced on me.” He followed her inside. “But damn, I wish I didn’t like quidditch so I could have done something that pissed my Dad off.”

♕ ---- Unable to stop herself, Greer smiled his compliment. She stepped into the restaurant and followed the hostess to one of the tables. “I would make such a great wife and you know it,” she continued with her teasing. “Plus, imagine the field day that Quidditch Daily would have.” She settled down in her chair not bothering with the menu, she already knew what she wanted. “There wasn’t anything else you like doing,” she asked curiously as she looked over at him. “I thought quidditch would upset my father but it turns out, he likes boasting about his children beng professional players. I should have given the muggle sports a better look.”

“Only because he has a lot of pull when it comes to quidditch.” Jackson smirked at the comment about her dad, but didn’t comment, knowing from experience how touchy that subject could be even if she was joking about it. “Sounds good to me. The past few hours were making me think of a career change.”

♕ ---- “Well, you’re free to share some that sometime, you know,” she teased. “You can point out that I could be family by law, if only you’d come to your senses.” She let out a snort before she gave his arm a gentle squeeze to warn him and then she apparated them to the alley near one of the places they’ve frequented. “What would you even do besides quidditch,” she asked once they were settled and ran her fingers through her curls.

“Nah, I’m out.” Jackson pushed himself up to stand. “He knows he can’t get rid of me anyway. He’s scared of my Dad.” He smirked and held his arm out for her to take. “But yes, let’s go.”

Phoenix sighed, dropping his hand from his curls to look at her. Honestly, putting labels on things was something he was okay not doing, but he didn’t feel like he was getting out of this. “Okay,” he said, looking at her. “I’m holding you to the short and almost painless thing, though. Because that really doesn’t make me feel better, amore.”

♕ ---- Greer glanced over at him and couldn’t help but to snort out of amusement. “I don’t want or need to be your girlfriend or any labels,” she said. “I just rather keeping the hook up part just between us, amore,” she added in a slight teasing tone. “You may not get jealous, but I will fully own that I do and will never apologize for it.”

Will gave Greer a look, but didn’t comment immediately. Instead, he settled for dropping himself backwards on his couch, narrowly missing dislodging Loki from his spot on the opposite end. “My reaction is my fault or her getting pregnant is my fault?” He questioned his sister, moving his arms around Loki to bring him against his side. He ruffled his fur with a huff, “Because the latter is kinda both of our faults and I’ve already said that the first one is my fault. i know I reacted like an asshole, okay? I know I did.” With a sigh, WIll dropped his head back against the couch and stared up at the ceiling. “If it’s any consolation, her brother’s gonna kill me.”

♕ ---- Greer rolled her eyes. “My reaction is my fault or getting her pregnany is my fault,” she said mocking his tone. “Of course you’re bloody reaction.” She pushed herself off the wall and raked her fingers through her waves of hair as she sent him a glare. “You realize who you sound like, right? Straight down to how you know its your fault. He always says he know what he did wrong in his relationships, and that he can be a bad guy sometimes. He can’t help it, just the way he is. Falls fast and leaves the moment something scary or difficult comes around.” She took a deep breath and reminded herself that this wasn’t about her issues with their father. This was about Will. “Look,” she said in a much softer tone. “You have every right to be scared and honestly, have real reasons to be. But, you care about her, right? You wouldn’t have gotten into a relationship with her if you didn’t. Do you really want to be twenty three years down the road and have her look at you the way your mum looks at Dad? Do you really want her to hate you without at least trying to talk to her about what’s going on in your head?” She then tipped her head back and snorted. “The fact that you think it’s just going to be her older brother who comes to murder you is laughable. You’re going to have the Chosen One chasing after your dumbass. And let’s be honest, he’s better at catching things than you.”
