"Unless the company is about to go under within the next hour, it can wait until I get back and start work for the day. My assistant can handle it."
Well, my father’s first choice of work was not to be a CEO. Our family’s friendship with the Starks got him his job. He enjoys it, I think. I suppose yours is the same sort of story. Have you ever considered doing something else?
It wasn't exactly my first choice, but it seems that's where I'm heading. I was sort of born into my job. I enjoy some parts of it. Paperwork and being sedentary just isn't my thing. I have, but I think it's a bit late in the game to get back into athletics.Â
Send " 웃 " to get my character's reaction to yours shoving them against a brick wall, covering their mouth, and whispering "Shh, they're coming. Come with me."
That’s unfortunate. Your company revolves around numbers and yet you find them boring.
It is rather unfortunate. My sister loves numbers. You would think my father would let her run the place, but alas, here I am.
Fine, whatever. I’ll humor her.
Good. It'll make your and mine life easier.
How is wedding planning going?
Whatever. Does that woman spend any of her time doing anything but talking to her children? Why don’t you talk to her more and get her to dote on you?
You should be more grateful than annoyed, Joff. I do talk to her every day, but you're her son. She's more inclined to worry over and dote on you. Just humor her.Â
Poppycock. I’m a grown man, there is no need for her to worry about me. Doesn’t she have other children to dote on? I can take care of myself, and make my own choices.
I think you could be thirty and your mother would still worry for you and your siblings. I'm sure she dotes on them plenty. I don't doubt it, Joff, but you should always appreciate your mother. You're lucky to still have her.
Yes, but she needs to understand that I have a job now, and I’m busy. I can’t just go to her every time she needs to have a conversation.
She simply worries for you is all. I don't think she likes you being so far from her. I try to assure her best I can you're doing just fine. It wouldn't hurt for you to call her every once and a while though.
Conversation with mother. Apparently I don’t talk to her enough.
That's not surprising. I don't think you could possibly call her enough for her liking.
Well, that could have gone better.
What could have gone better?
Oh, I’ve heard of him. I just wasn’t making the connection between the two of you.
I guess introducing myself would have helped. Jaime Lannister.Â
And who might your brother be?
Tyrion Lannister. I'm surprised you haven't heard of him.
Why don’t you use a calculator? It might make things a little easier.
I do have one, but it's still a boring amount of math.Â
I don’t know? A little respect maybe? I hoped the experience would be a little more enlightening. I took it on so I could get away from coffee machines run by the chatty girls I used to go to high-school with, but low and behold, the universe wasn’t feeling up to that challenge.
That comes with time. Being an intern is a right of passage. We all go through it and hate it. Hate to tell you, but even when the respect kicks in office life can still be a drag. You'll find offices are a lot more like high school than you'd expect.
If I had a dollar for every stewardess my brother had sex with, I would have more many than my family’s empire.
I often think the same of my own brother.
All this math is making me wish I paid better attention in school... or that I had better interns.Â
