Another year, another family portrait (apparently)

I think this is an ok likeness of us. But definitely think of it as an old court portrait- it's been prettyfied to be more flattering for sure 😂

I keep saying I'm going to draw more and then I just... Don't 😅

Well this year for sure! I really do want to waste less time mindlessly scrolling online and more time actually doing things

Part of my drawing problem is that I'm not really sure what I'm in to that I want to draw 🤔

I've only managed to do the portraits these past two years as part of gifts

And I find drawing my OCs a little frustrating because I can't quite work out their designs

Anyway, hopefully you'll hear from me again next year!

I’m definitely one of those people who is overly obsessed with my dog and treats him like a baby. But then- look at him. Who wouldn’t?

Long time, no see!

I haven’t been around much because, well, I haven’t been drawing much! But I’d like to change that this year

A lot happened while I was away. I got depressed, I changed my job (then got un-depressed), I moved out, I got a dog! Things are looking a lot better for me. While my dog Rex was just a puppy, it was impossible to draw because he was a cracked out little shark, but he’s two now and chilling out - and I really miss drawing. I’m trying to spend less time mindlessing scrolling on social media and more time actively doing things this year, drawing included.

Anyway, this was a drawing of all of us for a dedication in a children’s book I bought for my boyfriend’s nieces for Christmas. I was trying to draw it in the style of the book, which I thought would be easy due to the simple style but actually ended up being incredibly challenging. The beard in particular took days of trial and error to get a passable result.

It’s not up to the standards of my previous work, but I’m happy to be creating something again. And I want to put less pressure on myself. AI is horrifying, but at the same time it’s liberating in a way I haven’t fully unpacked yet. Like, why worry about if people will like what I draw when anyone can churn out technically polished art of whatever you can dream of in seconds with AI? If it’s imperfect, it’s because I’m human! And this one definitely has a lot of imperfections ;)

Honesty, I find it way easier to draw fanart than my OCs. I’ve tried to draw thic character so many times but could just never match what I thought she looked like in my head. This is as close as might ever get!

Wow, long time no see, am I right?

I decided to try something new, so I joined the 2018 Captain America Big Bang! In addition to forcing me to actually finish something, it has an added bonus of getting me a little more involved in the fandom ;)

I was partnered with @delfs for her fic Elevator Music, which is an amazing fic that explores Bucky’s recovery and struggle to find his own identity apart from the Winter Soldier. The main plot may be centered around Bucky and Steve, but it also features the most of your favorite Avengers with their own plot lines, so there really is something for everyone in there.

This is the song my previous picture is kinda inspired by. It’s a weird song in that... it’s kind of awful- just awkward and pitchy and strange, but I can’t stop listening to it and the more I listen to it the more I like it. A good companion for my kinda strange and awkward painting lol

Nothing for months and then two pictures in two days??? The planets must have aligned

This is something I’ve been working on for probably over a year, maybe more like two. I liked the concept and the colors, but the angle was (and let’s be honest, still is) too hard for me. Today I decided to just screw it and paint over the whole thing and just live with the outcome. I feel like it’s still missing something, but I’m going to post it now before it sits in my WIP folder for another two years.

Anyway, the theme for this piece was a song I stumbled upon in some kind of videogame music remixing forum. I’ll post it next

My YYH artbook submission! I'd love to get in, but I did send this in pretty late, so I wouldn't be surprised if I don't.

I wanted to do something with Yusuke and Botan, since we started off the series with them. It looked like the manga was going in a very different direction in those early chapters! This would be the dynamic duo during the Saint Beasts Arc, or the Zombie Movie Arc, as I like to call it. I hadn't realized that Botan wore a different outfit in the mange from the anime until I pulled out my manga to reference it XD
