I've worn masks while traveling for years because of my health issues, and at the beginning of the pandemic I posted a selfie in a mask on my way back to the U.S. and a bunch of people on here who are now like "just wear a mask it's not hard!" commented about how masks don't work and I was wasting resources and that masks might even make things more dangerous and what I'm getting at is if that was you, you owe me financial compensation
Y'all I'n not talking about people who just listened to the CDC. I'm talking about about people who were directly saying rude stuff to me about me choosing to wear a mask personally as I have done for years.
If you didn't call me stupid directly ln my blog this post isn't about you

The final version versus the rough draft
I don't know about you but both have a certain charm to me. I started it because of @lord_gris’s Frogust, over on insta. Though it led me to the knowledge of the existence of regular Frogust, so it satisfies both.
And satisfies my soul because frogs are A+ and I'm really happy at making a whimsical illustration
Steven Quartz Cutie Pie DeMayo Diamond Universe says wear a mask if you're going out. And yes it's nice to be fashionable but also check your mask *also* works as it's supposed to.
“Someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability. And to help repair tears in her society, to make things a little better through the use of whatever ability she has…” -Ruth Bader Ginsburg, on how she wants to be remembered. Fitting, for a true tzadik, someone righteous, who inspired the world. These have been dark times, and there will be more dark times ahead. But we can emulate RBG and seek to do the utmost with our abilities to make the world a better place.
Hey remember when the biggest thing in The Owl House was Amity's crush on Luz? Well I made this for back then and I figured “"why not share it here before the season finale?”

“Orange” ButterCream Frosting
Companion recipe to the orange poppy seed sugar cookies I made.
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1-2 tablespoons orange juice
1/4 cup butter or 1/2 stick of butter or 4 tablespoons
1-2 tablespoons milk
Melt the butter a little bit to make it easier. I used a stand mixer while I was taking cookies out and putting cookies in the oven. BUT you can use a whisk or even a fork if you’re studious.
If using the stand mixer I wavered between low and 2 until the mixture was smooth. Depending on how soft the butter is you might need to push the butter out of the whisk back into the bowl.
If you kept the clementines/orange as I suggested you can squeeze the juices out of each section into a tablespoon to measure it out. Half a clementine made about a tablespoon of juices. Now, the frosting didn’t taste that orange-y, so you can save some zest from when you grated it for the dough for the frosting.
If you have a carton of orange juice feel free to use that and just eat the mutilated clementines straight up.
Add a tablespoon of orange juice and milk at a time and mix on 2 (if using a stand mixer) until it forms stiff peaks. I overmixed so it was fluffy but not gritty yet and tasted ok.
How to Make Madeline Tasting Orange Poppy Seed Sugar Cookies (Frosting Optional but not really)
Pictures at bottom. Makes 36 smallish cookies. Because trying to put the recipe into Myfitnesspal is a pain and also I made a ton of edits to the recipe I decided to make my own link with instructions so I remember what I did and how I made these so here I go. If you’re anything like me, please read all the way through to make sure you’re actually able to make this, and not read it at the time you’re making only to realize you’ve halfway made this but you can’t do the rest.
Ingredients for cookies:
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 stick of Butter
2 large eggs (or any size eggs I don’t actually know)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 clementines or 1 regular sized orange
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
Heat oven to 350 degrees. I usually save this bit for later because I’m slow. Depending on how fast your oven preheats, you can preheat it after mixing the dough but before grating the clementines. Again, depending on how fast you grate your oranges.
Melt the butter in the microwave for 25 seconds or however long it takes for it to be melted but not completely melted.
Mix together the sugar and butter until completely combined. Using a whisk makes things easier but you don’t have to, you can use a fork.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract and beat together until you have a mixture that looks well combined. Remember if you wanted to taste the mix, you should have done that before you added the eggs, when it was just butter and sugar. You’ve played yourself waiting this long to taste it.
Now, to be honest, I did not use all purpose flour when making this. Thanks to Covid we got cake flour during one of the grocery delivery service runs we did. And it had yet to be used up and my dad has been using the all purpose flour for pizza dough. So when looking up substituting cake flour for all purpose flour it says 1 cup and 2 tablespoons for every cup of all purpose flour, but I find cake flour has a strong semi-unpleasant taste so it’s safer to use a little less than called for. So basically just the same amount as what was called for the all purpose flour.
Add the flour, salt, and baking powder to the sugar mix. I didn’t stir until all the ingredients had been added. Then I carefully whisked it all together until well combine.
The batter will look viscous, and you couldn’t roll it out, but it holds its shape better than you’d think.
At this point if you’re slow at grating you can now preheat the oven. If you’re anything like me and your oven is anything like mine, it’ll be done before you’re finished grating.
Take two clementines and using the smaller holes one a grater, start grating your orange. I’d suggest going around the side instead of from end to end, if that makes any sense. So you can simply roll your orange around while you zest instead of pausing and turning it for a blank ungrated spot.
Safe the mutilated clementines for the frosting.
Add the grated orange zest to the dough, and then the poppy seeds, mixing together well.
Using a spoon, add to a parchment paper atop a baking sheet, and pop into your oven for 10 minutes of loving. They’ll be slightly browned, soft, and taste a little dry but that makes them perfect for pairing with a hot beverage such as coffee or hot chocolate.
Frosting can be found here.

It's a really freaking good thing I don't have to go out often because it took a walk with my mom for me to learn you're supposed to pinch the bridge of the mask to keep it over your nose...
I just thought everyone struggled with it coming down when you talked because it tucks under your chin and your jaw moving pulls it down...
