ok but like shout out to all my girls with skin conditions like eczema or acne or keratosis pilaris, etc. society paints such a false picture of women as having perfectly clear and soft skin and like….that ain’t true. so many of us have bumps and scars and dryness and redness and no matter what we do it won’t go away. but yall are perfect okay like believe me i still don’t love my skin but its so Wrong that we hate ourselves so much for something so trivial. you’re beautiful okay and so is your skin i love u.

Hada Labo Shirojyun Lotion?

I really want to incorporate a product with vitamin c into my routine. However, I use niacinamide in two of my products both morning and night. So, LAA is a no no because I want to avoid flushing in my skin.

With that in mind, I feel like MAP would be a good choice. I know that the Shirojyun line has MAP as well as other brightening ingredients, AND hyaluronic acid. This all sounds peachy to me. I was just wondering what y'all thought of the toner/lotion specifically?

Hey there! I think the Shirojyun is a great toner. I would certainly recommend it.

This is a good resource to read about the interactions between niacinamide and vitamin c (L-Ascrobic Acid). 

Keep in mind that most vitamin C derivatives turn into ascorbic acid on the skin. Even with MAP, there’s a chance you could experience flushing. I could imagine that’s part of why there’s arbutin and not niacinamide in the toner.

So I was totally ready to love this product. I did experience a light flushing upon first applying, but that went away as I patted the product in. it was nicely hydrating and I do feel it gave my skin a nice little glow....

but it also made me breakout in the few days that I've been using it 😭
