Positivity Post for Belizeans
I’ve never seen a positivity post for Belizeans on tumblr so imma fix that. If you’re not Belizean then you might be asking, why do Belizeans need a positivity post well:
Belize as a commonwealth of the British is located geographically in Latin American but culturally isn’t considered Latin OR Hispanic as Spanish isn’t the main or official language of Belize and it’s not seen as Latin by most people as Belize isn’t well integrated into the politics of other Latin american country. So Belizean Americans aren’t sure how to call themselves in terms of race in things such as the census as we’re not Hispanic or Latin but not anything else. So:
Here’s for the Belizeans who identify as Hispanic/Latinx even though they’re told they’re not
Shout out to the Belizeans who are Mayan
Here’s for the Belizeans who identify as Garifuna
Shout out to the Kriols
Shout out to the Mestizos
Heres for the Belizeans who’s families originally came from India, China,etc.
Shout out to LGBT+ Belizeans
Here’s to all Belizeans who are told what they can and can’t identify as
Shout out to the Belizeans that are always mistaken for some other race.
Shout out to Belizeans that always hear people mix up Brazil, Bolivia, etc. with Belize
Shout out to the Belizeans who have stopped trying to explain their ethnicity to others because they don’t understand it, Y’all are all valid to me, it gets frustrating af
Shout out to all Belizeans, you are all wonderful my siblings!!!!
