Something about Percy explaining Thalia's tree and the significance of her sacrifice to Tyson in such a gentle and respectful way, while never taking his eyes off of Annabeth. Giving Annabeth time to grieve and watching her carefully because he knows how hard this must be for her, and acknowledging Thalia's importance and bravery, while also making sure Tyson doesn't feel out of the loop.

That scene stood out to me so much because he glances at her and then immediately looks away. Almost as if he can't bear the shame of what he's done. She has tears in her eyes and he can't look at her because he knows that he put them there.

He's an older brother to his core and I think that haunts him in the worst ways possible. He can't escape it and his shame, so he uses his anger to override it and it doesn't work fully. Because he's spent 5 years protecting her and loving her so much that it's instinctive, even when everyone in his mind is telling him otherwise.

I do rather suspect that Jinshi does suspect that he's actually Ah-duo and the current Emperor's son even from the beginning.

He's just doing the Maomao thing of pretending he hasn't connected those dots because, quite frankly, dealing with the emotions of learning your entire life is a lie because two people had a selfish moment when they were young and traumatized is a bit much to deal with.
