So far I don't think I'll be romancing anyone in kingmaker which is a bummer
i sort of regret making a male pc since Tristian is the only one I am remotely into (but even he is a bit 50/50 and he's a fem only romance)
and butting into Regongar's and Octavias relationship feels too weird from the minimal spoiler stuff I've read and I am just not into the poly aspect (even though i appreciate the option) and I am only really interests in Regongar out of the two
I do like all the companions I have but none of em are really hitting with me
still having fun though!

(about the wotr post) can I ask what the bg3 treatment is? 👀 I played the game but wasn't super active in the fandom. Is it about how people characterize the PCs?
oof where do I start with this 💀
BG3 had verryyy aggressive and overzealous fandom. There would be a lot of moralizing over choices, lots of flanderizing of every character, fights over different ships, what was "canon" and what wasn't. People would actually go on long tangents of therapy speak to tell you how awful you are for choosing to hug Astarion for example or even choosing to romance him (people in general were so weird about him that I avoided posting any fanart of him even though he is one of my favorite character ever lmao). Also lots of misogyny and racism.
But yes the mischaracterizing, black and white treatment of the companions was especially bad. Every time someone would start "who is what alignment" discourse all hell would break loose.
People treating characters like real people and real people like punching bags. Happens with most huge fanbases now but BG3 was especially bad in terms of the lengths people would go to just to try and make you feel bad. I am sort of out of both fandom and rarely interact now save fanart but I assume things are calmer now. I would really like to make more art of Arno and Astarion but still get too nervous to do it :')
Maybe I could also say the Dragon Age treatment since it was horrendous there as well and it existed far before BG3 but I don't think even DA had as many bad takes and bad actors as BG3 did.

Wishing Wrath of The Righteous was more accessible and appealing for people to play because I can’t keep explaining to people that Daeran isn’t my OC :’)
But then again I really don’t want him to get that bg3 fandom treatment so it’s always a glass half empty half full kind of deal

The whole annoyance towards the “i can fix him/her” dynamic has sort of devolved into people thinking that someone’s initiative in another persons life is inherently invasive.
The idea that good people in your life who try to help you or inadvertently make you a better person isn’t bad and no most of them don’t have a hidden narcissistic agenda.
And people can change from being close to another person, that isn’t strange or manipulative. Other people should help you grow.
When applied to characters and stories in games it’s even sillier because you the player are the sole arbiter of literally anything happening in a game, you are a meta god. The whole discussion is ridiculous since you decide every action and inaction and the characters don’t evolve into anything without your direct input (talking about RPGs here).
Technically everything you do in any game is invasive then?
Of course it isn’t that would be crazy, none of this is real and people playing out silly fantasies in a game means absolutely nothing (most of the time there are always extreme cases).
Anyway, just some thoughts. This site gets stupidly judgmental and weird over the smallest things.
