Fast, easy, filling, and nutritious. Here are my top 10 recipes for college students from Budget Bytes!
Blueberry Oatmeal
For starters, this one-minute-breakfast is a much healthier option than the McMuffins your fellow dorm dwellers will be eating in the morning. Pick up a bag of organic rolled oats, a carton of almond milk and fresh blueberries the next time you’re at the grocery store. Microwave your oatmeal with almond milk (instead of water, for added protein and flavor) and top with blueberries… and maybe even a shake of cinnamon too. You can even put it in a to-go cup to eat on your way to class. by Allison Norton September 22nd, 2014
It's that time of year to add fresh, sweet watermelon to your diet. Watermelon is 92% water, but contains Vitamin A, B6, & C and Lycopene, Antioxidants, and Amino Acids. All good for you!
THE EASIEST EASTER HAM
6 lbs. semi boneless fully cooked ham (find it in the grocery meat dept.)
4 tbs canola oil or vegetable oil
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 orange, sliced
1/3 cup water
Preheat oven according to directions on ham. Place ham in baking pan and pour 1/3 cup water into the pan.
Mix brown sugar and oil in a bowl and rub it on the ham. Use toothpicks to secure orange slices on ham (I soak mine for a minute in cold water so they don’t burn in the oven).
Cover with foil and bake according to package directions. (Normally around 2 hours for a 6 lbs. ham).
Once done, remove the oranges, slice, and serve. This makes such a juicy and flavorful ham!
