THE BEATLES FILMS
We went to see those movies with Elvis or somebody in them when we were still in Liverpool. You’d see everybody waiting to see them, right? And I’d be waiting there too. They’d all scream when he came on the screen, and we thought, “That’s a good job!” – John Lennon

And my friends have lost their way
Happy birthday, George!!! This is my favorite clip from Magical Mystery Tour, and one of my favorite songs.
After John died there was a lot of talk about who did what, and who liked who, and “Did the Beatles argue?” and on and on and on. And I was almost buying into this idea that me and John were fighting all the time, but I just remembered it wasn’t true, so I wrote this song. (…) I wanted to make a song where I actually said I love you to John. “Here Today” is that song. It’s quite emotional. It came from a real feeling about him. I wanted to correct the record in my mind, as much as in anyone else’s mind. There are some photos from that period which are really beautiful. Like, just him and me working, and you could see we loved each other. But once all these rumors go about, you almost buy into them yourself, so that song kind of helped me set the record straight. – Paul McCartney, 2018
