“From piss to pilsner” is a new initiative being launched at Roskilde, northern Europe’s largest music festival.

From piss to pilsner. Okay this just sounds gross and really weird but a Danish festival will try to make beer from collected urine. ‘Under a cloudless sky, shirtless Vikings with plastic cups of beer in hand are queuing excitedly along a patch of sawdust-covered earth to urinate in a metal trough. Their “contributions” are being collected in specially designed storage tanks, which will then be transported to nearby fields to fertilise malting barley for brewing beer.’ This eco friendly initiative shows us how simple it can be to do something good with our own dirt. Although we probably have to get used to this idea, it is an awesome initiative i think. People will get used to it and pee in the urinals and say, i drink my own pee as beer! How awesome is that!

These lamps show the beauty of nature. I saw those lamps in a friends house a few weeks ago. I think they fitted perfectly in an environment where you want to have nature inside you house. I am a person who really loves being in nature and feels connected to nature.

Scientists and engineers are now building mashup versions of the renewable sources we’re using today with the goal of generating power with even greater efficiency and sustainability.

“The next category is sort of putting together elements that already exist but haven’t been put together,” John Rogers, senior energy analyst for the Union of Concerned Scientists, told The Huffington Post in a telephone interview. “What comes to mind is solar and wind… or putting solar panels in places they haven’t been put before.”

That’s not all. Work is continuing on fusion energy, and scientists are also exploring ways to harness energy from space. In my direct environment, luckily, not a lot of people are smoking. But I think it a still a really big number that smokes cigarettes every day even though everybody knows these days that it is really harmful as well as for the smoker as for their environment. Tosee is a device that shows smokers the harm of their habit. This device is not mad t show smokers the negative sides of smoking, it is build to empower them. This way, they can take control of their habit. Of course, using this device, will only help a smoker if his intention is already to quit smoking. I think that those supporting devices make the world of addictions a better place by pointing out the positive things that will get to you if you quit a bad habit. It is all about positive feelings and support and that is what will really help people quit something they are not happy with.

What we wanted was that people who mean a lot to each other deserve to know this from time to time. So we invited these ‘opstapjes’. Something I have probably said a few times before is that I am a little bit obsessed by making really normal things in life a bit more special. I have a really cool boyfriend who invented Phio. A device that can be used to control all and everything in a household. Pretty cool right? I also came across an article about something like Phio. So I am sure that there is future in devices like this. Phio has in my opinion a lot of potential when you can teach all the people in a household to use it. It will ad a little bit more to the experience of living in your house. It also gives people the power and the feeling that they are in control of their own home by knowing what is going on, everywhere in their house. It is also designed to not overwhelm people with a lot of extra choices and options, it has to stay simple to make it work for everybody. This is a perfect example of the internet of things. All is connected these days and by using technology to make life even easier and more exciting for everybody, we can make the world a little bit more advanced as well. In this case the interaction is very important as well. People don’t always feel connected or are happy with the devices in their home. By making a kind of universal remote, tangible interaction is created.
