          "Critters," he repeats, sounding amused. It's a funny word after all, and it doesn't stop being funny just because he's heard it used so often. He reaches out, taking her moving closer as permission, and gently strokes the fawn with such a grin on his face. "Like this little critter. I did not know you could find animals like this so close to the city."

          "I do not need help," he smiles, and at least the thank you            that fails to  reach his lips is in his eyes.  He's met plenty            of unpleasant  people here,  but it  seems there's always            at least one person prepared to try and help. It's nice.

     ❝ Sometimes, yes. But that’s their business, not mine. I fight them for money. ❞ He’s so confused. But he makes no comment. Instead, Hawke decides that maybe it’d just be best to answer the other’s questions and move on.

             "What is... money?" He's heard it mentioned many a time, but he's only ever really sat there and not said a word when it's been discussed. But now seems like a time to ask, rather than stand there like a confused fool. "And who gives it to you?"

"Do you nee help finding somewhere?" Emma pause, giving the other a once over glance. "Or someone?”

        "Could you take me to Jane?" Perhaps she could, if Tarzan was actually aware of her surname, but she's simply Jane as he is Tarzan, at least until he learns that surnames exist. "Is she here?"

He's been watching through the brush for a little while now, but his curiosity has finally gotten the best of him.

               "What are you doing?"

                  "What is that terrible noise?"                      It's a plan, as a matter of fact.                      But he has no reason to know.

               "And these are... words?"

"—-You look lost."

          "I--" A pause. He supposes he is lost. "You are right."

"It’d do you best if you didn’t eat it, darling.”

She still wasn’t used to her son’s bizarre tendencies, those accumulated from years of living with apes. While it was a bit unusual, she was more concerned about Tarzan not injuring himself.

She plucked the object from his grasp, laying it aside and smiling gently.

"—-It’s a pocket watch, dear," she said slowly. "To tell time with."

           "It is ticking," he says. He clasps his hands instead of the watch, though admittedly, he did prefer the watch. There are so many interesting things that he's yet to learn of, and he's one to learn through experience than being told. So, of course, the moment she's set the watch aside, Tarzan reaches over to look at it again, holding it right before his eyes as if to get a really good look at it.

                      "Why do you need to tell time?"

An odd question for anybody civilized, but Tarzan's never really had to worry that much about it. So it's an odd concept.

     He has to take a moment. Why is this man not wearing a shirt? Why does he speak so oddly? The words are drawn out and long. Eyes dart towards the other’s hands and raise a brow. ❝ Ah, no. I fight other people in cages. ❞

        "Why would you fight them?" he asks, brow furrowed. These civilized humans are violent creatures, he's come to learn, and Tarzan isn't sure if he wants to stay here any longer. "Did they do something wrong?"

       ”I knew it!” she suddenly says with a smile. “I knew that humans weren’t as dangerous as father said they were.” she laughs and any sense of worry is completely gone from her soft features. “He’s always saying that humans are dangerous and scary and that they’ll scoop me up from the ocean. But he’s wrong. He’s never met a human but I have! What does he know? Nothing that’s what.”

           "You are not human?" He looks understandably confused, which seems to be the default when it comes to interacting with these people. A small, instinctual grunt slips forth and Tarzan shuffles that little bit further forward, as if he's tempted to climb into the water himself. He reaches out, fingers mere inches from Ariel's face before he closes his fist. "You look like me. But you're not..."

             "What is this...?"

He's silent for a moment, then reaches forward to take the object in his hands. There's a short pause before it's lifted to his face and, after a few moments of sniffing it, he licks it.

A gentle and amused smile spreads across her face. This was a very peculiar man, and she found herself rather intrigued. With his minor communication errors she immediately assumed that he must just be foreign. Though she could not tell from where as his accent was not distinguishable to her. “Oh no, it’s Wendy Darling. Darling is my second name.”

In a very relaxed manner, Wendy reached out and placed her hand on the other side of his in order to correct the direction of his shake before finally releasing his hands. “You aren’t from around here are you, Tarzan?”

        "I am from very far away," he confirms with a nod. He spends a moment looking down at this hand as if he's trying to remember that is the way you're supposed to shake hands. At least he'd almost gotten it right, which is more than he can say for when he introduced himself to Jane. "It is a place you call Africa. Jane and her father--" He simply assumes she knows who they are, as his world is very small and he sees no reason as to why they shouldn't know each other.

                   "They suggested I come with them. To learn about people like me."

(☾☆) — Rosemary had been walking through the familiar woodlands with a baby deer in her arms. The doe mewled contently as it nuzzled closer to her chest. Honey colored hues appeared surprised to see him. She could ask the same question. ❝Oh well I live here. My home is pretty close by. Why are uh…you’re here?❞

       "I was lonely," he says, jumping down from his perch in the tree. He's noticed the little fawn in her arms and is suddenly enamoured by it. So he pads closer, on all fours for a short moment, before he straightens up and takes two last gentle steps towards her. His attention is still caught by the small creature for a few moments before he looks up to her face, nearly wide-eyed, all curiosity. "You live in the forest?"

            “That was nothing but a flying lizard,” she grumbles, dusting off her furs — “Well, then you are very fortunate, stranger —— they are not the kindest of beasts by any means.”

                        She may just be grouchy from when one                         nearly  burned off  her entire head of hair…

             "Skyrim has flying lizards?" It definitely looked like a dragon, at least from the pictures of them he's seen. Maybe Jane drew them all wrong, but Tarzan doesn't quite believe that such a thing is likely. "No. They did not look kind. And it did not look like he was going to let you talk to him either.  

                              "Are you alright? It looked close for a moment there."

        “Because I live under here.”

She said that as if it weren’t an odd thing to say at all. Her mind was registered to think that everyone knew her kind existed just as all the merefolk knew that the humans existed.

        “Well not in the very place. I live a little further away but you have to swim for a long time to get there.”

          "How do you live under there? Don't you need to breathe?" 

Tarzan can't hold his breath long enough to live underwater, that's for sure, but perhaps it's only that way because he was brought up in the jungle. He can swim, and he's spent plenty of time doing it, but he's always lived within the greenery, always returned to land. Maybe this means Jane can do it too, and she's only choosing to live on land for his benefit.

                              "Who are you?"
