Drawing

I did this recently …

Shared a lesson plan with with class, literally.

had them use Google Apps Drawing, to create a sheet - working in pairs - to create shape drawings. getting them to use Google Search was great.

But what was really so good, was their team work and collaboration, and there desire to go home and work on their drawings outside of school.

Grid

Have you seen the new Google App;s Grid, at the top right of your GA screen.

It's a great tool and excellent for fast navigation, in such a simple way.

Did you know you can type in complete mathematical expressions, straight into the Google Search box. You get the answer, and you might get a graph too!

Google Docs background colours

Adding a background colour to a Google Docs document is so simple, but SO effective!

Just goto FILE, PAGE SETUP and select your colour. Brilliant!

Tip : Spelling and Define

In Google Docs, using the Tools menu and Spelling option is great, but ... have you tried the Define option also?

It acts like your very own fully fledged dictionary, with the easy ability to get a full dictionary definition of a word!

TIP

My TOP TIP for searching cleverly in Google is use Quotes!

e.g., to search on New York hotel, type    "New York hotel"

Try it!  Your search results will be much tighter...

GA Organisation

Spend time up front thinking through your Organisations.

Do you wish to have an organisational structure that separates Pupils and Staff? Are pupils organised by Class or Set or ...? How to you wish to share with them and by what sort of group? Do you need a Training Group also?

Do you want all groups to have the same Apps? Dod you know you can create Sub-Organisations, which can then be different in the Apps they have? 

[ If you don't quite get the Organisation right first time, you can change it later. It's just easier to get it right BEFORE you start creating it ]
