jazz day 20
hi! you are a jazz [the guy] fan. i am also a jazz [the guy] fan but a relatively new one, and i feel like a lot of what i know about him is just popular fanon. which is cool! but! if you wanna id love some recs for good canon stories with cool jazzes
Hey, so I don't know how to tell you this but I'm the #ultimatefraud. I dont really consume canon media, or even fan media, I just do my own thing. We run on vibes and wikipages here.
However, I can still offer some recs! Just know its coming from the #ultimatefraud
So you might've noticed, but theres laughably little Jazz in recent Transformers media. He's a cameo or background character, and hasn't really taken the spotlight since....a while now. Your best bet is the G1 cartoon, I think he shines best there and the G1 cartoon is also a fun, silly watch. Jazz is present in IDW, and I haven't read much of IDW so grain of salt, but from what I heard he isn't utilized best there. There miiiiight be some stuff for him in the Marvel comics but I just started those so I cant say for sure.
He makes appearances in Transformers Animated but doesn't have a ton of screentime (show got cancelled before he could join the main cast </3), and TFA is a lot different than most TF media so don't go in with the usual expectations. Hes also in Robots in Disguise for some reason! Ew!! So yeah all that considered, watch G1.

yk what? I respect the hate.
Like I ship the characters—both fanon and canon interpretations of them—but I feel like Jazzprowl is ultimately a "can I fix him?" sort of relationship. A more canon-adjacent version of these two (per IDW at least) would be a complicated, toxic mess. G1 would probably be fine—minus that Prowl dies (and maybe Jazz I lowk don't remember?).
Like its fun to come up with wacky scenarios of an amoral Jazz and Prowl comitting war crimes together. But canonically, Jazz has far too much conscience, and Prowl is haunted by his. (Actually they've both done shitty things, but Jazz, out of the two, is the only one who feels persistent remorse, while Prowl—who albeit still feels distress—will chalk it up to another statistic). Which lowk a large appeal of the ship, but somewhat underexplored? At least on Jazz's end.
Not to mention that making him "okay" with Prowl's actions is a disservice to his character. Jazz has far too much empathy, too much love to be okay with even a fraction of what Prowl has done. He may find a way to continue to love Prowl regardless, or at least have a continued interest similarly to an experiment. But it would definitely be a trial of patience, and again a sort of "can I fix him?" sort of thing.
Lovely reply! Thank you so much, this is very well thought out and super accurate. Now I'm using you as a vessel to complain! So my issues with the ship more so reside in the fans and how they portray them rather than their dynamic in any official media. People do not really understand Jazz's character, or they have no interest in him, but write him anyway to fulfill a ship. I've noticed people tend to find Prowl more interesting or relatable, so they center their writing around him and what he's thinking, feeling, and doing. I believe a major part of it is due to Jazz being black-coded (if you disagree or confused I'll elaborate in a separate post) so white fans just...don't really care about him or understanding him. Soooo many fics are riddled with borderline or just fully racist tropes, and few people really think about how to portray him in a way that is mindful of these tropes, since they either don't know they are doing these tropes or they just don't see Jazz as black. With Jazz's coding in mind, and a lot of people writing Prowl to be a police officer, dynamics get....strange to say the least. Even people who aren't aware of racist connotations still end up fulfilling them since those tropes and teachings are so ingrained they don't even notice them. And I'm definitely not saying all Jazzprowl fans are racist, I'm saying that they often aren't mindful to the coding and messaging they are sending with their fan-content.
Moving on to other points, I also feel like its just one of those ships that people ship just to ship. They like Prowl, so they ship him with Jazz who they can easily mold into whatever they need since not enough people have enough knowledge of his character. Jazz is my favorite character in this whole franchise, so it's super disappointing seeing him used in copy and paste ship content or ship content that has really racist undertones (and sometimes OVERtones). He's existed for such a long time, and is so present in fan content, but when that fan content is actually put under inspection it has little to do with Jazz as an actual character. Give me more Jazz content! And PLEASE give me more black authors writing Jazz!!
Girlie, I lowkey thought I was going crazy with the way a lot of fic authors write Jazz.
(Also complaining!!! I LOVE TO COMPLAIN AAAAA—)
As an occasional fic writer, I know I'm probably guilty of some of the things you've mentioned, I'm not black (am filipino) but I did spend my formative teenage years living in a predominantly "black" area—black in this context being an umbrella term to refer to those with darker pigmentation, not of African descent (because Australia, with Aboriginal history being my only personal point of reference when it comes to first-hand, technically second-hand, experience with "black" culture). And its very interesting to see how those same perceptions and prejudices towards black people are carried onto Jazz (and to a lesser extent Prowl).
There's also the whole other debacle of the "model minority", and how white society views and lowkey pins asians (specifically east, or east-passing asians) and blacks against one another to vie for white attention and acceptance. Positioning one or the other as "desirable" in certain facets where the other is not. Its not particularly relevant to this discussion, but a thing that comes to mind is how "blackness" is seen as hypermasculine, and "asianess" as hyperfeminine. That asian women are more "feminine" than white women, and thus more desirable. But black women are more "masculine" than white women, and are thus not (note how whiteness is considered as the baseline for "attractiveness"). Bullshit like that. This outlook also works with asian, white, and black men. But even then, the "feminine" asian man does not face the same level of scrutiny when compared to the "masculine" black woman, despite both serving as direct parallels to one another in this specific diagram, due to different societal expectations associated with one's gender.
But in relation to Jazzprowl and Jazz's characterisation, I feel like a lot of fics—explicit ones in particular—tend to hyper-masculinise Jazz playing into anti-black tropes of aggression and possessiveness, tying into the desirability and fetishisation of the "masculine" black man. Particularly in the objectification of his "feminine" other half. There's a lot to be picked apart with how the both of them are portrayed in explicit media—but then again it's p*rn. And I doubt these authors are trying to make a serious commentary on race and identity, nor do I think (or hope) that any of the above is reflective of the author's actual, real-world beliefs.
(Also note that Jazz's aggression is more largely attributed to the warping of BDSM tropes rather than solely on race, but again it ties into what you said with how a lot of authors aren't mindful to the coding and messaging of their fan-works.)
Also, super sorry if you're not comfortable with NSFW topics!!! But I feel like explicit fan-works are typically the most egregious offenders of the racist under- and overtones you've mentioned, because they're typically able to get away with a lot more taboo topics, as they're not expected to dissect them in any meaningful or nuanced way. For instance, slave-master relationships (which in general are... uh... uhhhhhhhhhh.)
HOWEVER, on a relatively more wholesome note. I'm really happy you brought up how, with black-coding in mind, the dynamic with Prowl being a police officer gets super strange. I find this especially when authors try to be politically aware and try to educate the audience on the race-dynamics present in society.
Which is... fine, and if done well can add a lot meaning and nuance to the narrative these authors are trying to tell, but something these authors have to take in consideration is whether the message they're trying to tell makes SENSE, given the setting they're writing in. Like does the racism, and thus the oppression these characters face, feel like a natural extension of the world-building? Or just something extra that author wrote in to give the story some surface-level depth?
Because while Transformers is an allegory for the underlying philosophical themes and troubles that plague the human condition. The characters in Transformers are ultimately not human. Like robo-racism is and SHOULD be fundamentally different than real-world human racism, because they focus, scrutinise, and debase different aspects of an individual. For instance, through pattern-recognition and basic empathy, we should be able relate the different Transformers conflicts (cold vs forged, frame-type discrimination) to racial conflicts in the real world. As the concepts, such as the notions of being born "wrong" and being treated "different" are directly comparable, WHILE others are not.
Like, while Jazz is black-coded—unless its humanformers—he is ultimately not a black man. And his struggles while in parallel to real-world struggles, should not be a direct one-to-one. Like if authors want to give him stereotypical black struggles, the world needs to justify it, because at the end of the day. They're robots.
Like what is Jazz being discriminated against? His frame-type? His cold-construct status? And if so, why is that so often when compared to other characters of a similar frame-type and status, the narrative or specifically the authors will try to position him as more oppressed? Like with *cough* *cough* Prowl? And it's easy to place Prowl in a position of more privilege because he was a high-level Enforcer pre-war.
But, canonically, so was Jazz???
So, ultimately, I feel like the deciding factor on who gets bent over is racial-coding (this also applies to Prowl btw iykyk).

Hello hello! It's really sad to hear that people can't just get along with one another even when they like the same thing. 😔 I hope they can come to understand that it's better to stand together than against each other all the time. People have been saying what you say on X? I didn't know that! But having the thought of constantly being watched by mean people is really creepy to me... 😰 Doesn't that bother you? But what???!!! They insulted us in that podcast??? Really??? But why would they do that?? I mean it's one thing to be angry but to say it in front of us is so mean! Especially after saying it is a fan favorite podcast!! And the way they act like they are somehow better or that everything is supposed to be how they want when that's exactly what they have been doing how could they??!! Haven't they bullied us enough? 😭 And what do they mean they don't get anything good? Aren't they the ones who make those things they want? Are they saying what they make is not good??? Even though they made it themselves?? And then act as if the one with "better" things is cheating?? I don't get it!!! Can I ask what you mean by that? And what do you mean that they knew and ruined things on purpose!?!? Are they admitting somewhere in those podcasts that they were trying to ruin all the things they could for Sonadow without remorse and still trying to act like there is cheating somehow?? I don't really get how people can act like these type of things are normal somehow. Like when I think of Team Sonic I think of Sonic Heroes' lineup where Sonic is with Tails and Knuckles. It was the same in SA2 right? So where is her being a part of the team really come from and how can it be normal? Even in Team Sonic Racing he was with his team Tails and Knuckles! In Sonic Mania he is with Tails and Knuckles! I think most of the popular and big game titles have him with only Tails and Knuckles not Amy too so that's weird! Wasn't it like that in the movies too? Sonic was first then Tails and then Knuckles and after was Shadow! So how can anyone think she makes sense to be in Sonic's team when it wasn't like that growing up? I don't get it... 😣 How could they use Shadow like that! He's not meant to be there for another character to get something more than him? That makes no sense! If he makes money focus on him! Or the main cast not just her! I thought we were here for Sonic and his friends or Shadow not Amy and IDW characters or other side characters that are soooooo boring 🙄 I have no interest in a girly girl's shopping trip or infatuation with someone who doesn't even like her like that. I hear they are trying to make her go on more adventures as of late but I don't find her adventures all that interesting because she is just going around acting like she is a miracle worker who can fix everything with the power of "love" but she is just talking to people or threatening others to make them turn good. I don't get how that just automatically makes everyone act as if they are in candy land or something!!! 😤 I didn't think about how it was mean to Keanu too!! OMG that's so bad! How can they leave out such a remarkable man when talking about the movie cast! That's just dirty!! And isn't Tom and other human characters important too? Like Wade who starred in Knuckles' show??!! It's good people are fighting back! They need to with people like this in their workspace! 😤 But I can't believe that even money is not a good enough distraction for these people! How else can they make more things?? Is it that much more important?!?! Thank you for answering my questions!! For a Sonadow question what do you think would happen if one of them was trying to make a surprise for the other but have a hard time since they're so clingy to each other? 😆
I hope so too. 🥲
It bothers me a little if it's a bad person. This is how I got mass harassed on X, even when I didn't tag the post. 😶🌫️
If you take a look on Spotify and have an account, they have a decent accurate automated generated transcript to read it better instead of just listening!
The way they worded certain things seem "strange" which is why I assumed that they were admitting that they're mad at people, one of them being Sonadow fans, and also admitting that they "have been doing shady things." I also assume this from my accumulated knowledge of how they have been bias and sabotaging things like the bias contest, fan meetings, raunchy actions, and the Archie slap. This isn't the first time they write what they feel in media! In the new year's TailsTube, they made Amy say that she wants to do things more and bigger/better (something like that), which is what we see with them being bias with her everywhere!
Here is where they mention "old ladies who cheat at bingo." Vector is stating this. Calling them old ladies with blue hair and lavender perfume seems too on point AND STRANGE as a description. Shadow is the only character who is associated with Lavender and blue hair is referencing Sonic. Why pick this description when they could have said white hair or floral print dresses? Vector complains that these "old ladies" (Sonadow fans) get all these butterscotch treats while he doesn't get any! The treats could represent things like the title, Sonic x Shadow Generations or Sonic Prime! Sonadow getting anything "nice" seems to make these bias employees angry and they find it a nightmare that these fans are "laughing at them" for getting these better quality things rather than them. Even if they make their own things, it can't match the "sweetness and depth" that Sonadow can give! He thinks they are "cheating" because the bias employees are so "close" (one number away in BINGO), but the Sonadow fans "win BINGO" somehow before them. If we take what we know in how they are doing many tactics to take down Sonadow and promote females whether that be in Sonamy, mature women, or little girls, they have some audacity stating that the Sonadow fans "cheat" when they've been the ones hurting them and trying to "cheat" themselves with all their tactics! So, they can't believe that despite everything horrible they have and still are doing, that Sonadow is STILL MORE POPULAR AND STILL GETS CONTENT.
(SBO is Espio)
Here, Rouge is speaking to Espio. From my assumptions/analyzation, it seems that these employees get a heads up on what's going to happen. Let's use Sonic x Shadow Generations as an example. Remember, this is assumption and analyzation from context clues and facts (such as how they lie and their tactics). Since these employees need to know what they are going to advertise, they probably get information on what it'll be about in general. Imagine an employee knows more than that and shares it with these bias employees. (In this podcast above, it would be Rouge giving Espio leads, files/information) These bias employees then use this information to form a plan to sabotage anything they don't like. In this case, Sonadowm since they complained about it earlier. So I mentioned that when this game's title dropped, many "fake fans" hated on it where even game journalists tried to also hate on it. The bias employees kept referencing Shadow as only a rival when he's more than that, they biasly pushed Amy even though it was Shadow's year (like her Fortune cards), Iizuka tried to say his opinion saying Sonic and Shadow aren't friends to have people use his words to say they aren't friends when they are, Iizuka also tried to say that Shadow should be a villain (his opinion), tried to push Shadaria at first to make it seem like Sonadow is "not possible or true" when it is, tried to make Shadow overly obsessed with Maria (and still do) so he has "no one else," had Maria steal Sonic's lines and something only he can do, change the the script for the game to make Shadow meaner to Sonic, changed the scene and texts for Amy so it seems she "isn't as bad" as the original Sonic Generations (like removing Sonic pushing her away physically), and even though this isn't the game - they had Amy shoved at the end of the third movie- AFTER DOING ALL OF THESE SABOTAGE AND TACTICS TO GET SONIC AND SHADOW TO FAIL. But it didn't work since Shadow boosted sales in different areas like the game, movies, and some merchandise. So imagine how things would have went if they didn't do all of these horrible tactics! So, I can see why they got so angry as to why all their tactics didn't work. Rouge says in this podcast that even though she gave a heads up, they still "bungled" it (botched it). Which probably reflects something like what I just mentioned. They couldn't forsee, like Espio mentions, what would happen, which is Shadow beating the odds due to how popular he is! Espio doesn't know whether or not he can trust Rouge because he doesn't know if the information is real. This could also reflect how they don't know if they can trust whoever is giving them these "heads up" since they haven't been successful. So this is what I mean where they seem to be aware of what they've been doing.
If they were given permission, they would've immediately make Sonic and Amy be together romantically in main media (they try to skirt or pretend though), but instead, they see things being made for Sonic and Shadow instead (Like Sonic Prime). Even if they are narsisstic about the things they make, it seems some employees are self aware that it isn't "good enough." They want THEIR IDEAS AND WANTS to be acknowledged, but it seems like it isn't by the higher employees. That's why they are so angry. On a side note, whoever is writing these podcasts really likes mature women like Victoria and Rouge. They have been making Rouge flirty and pushing Charmy to be interested in these older women. 😱
They even are still doing these tactics like this! The simulator account on SNS announced a "pair outfit" of King Sonic and Queen Amy, pushing Sonamy right after the announcement of her VA where the post that announces it also pushes Sonamy. So, this is the type of post that "lies" to the fans. Most people assume a king and queen are together, which pushes the lie that Sonic and Amy "are together romantically" when they are not. They specifically use a pair like this to push this lie! Shadow, though, also has a king pair with Sonic! (Though all of these outfits are terrible) Even though the movie isn't until next year, they are using this opportunity early now to make fans think a certain way! The key here is their intentions! They specifically put this RIGHT AFTER THAT VA ANNOUNCEMENT to have people think a certain way. Furthermore, these Sonamy posts (one of them being "big news") came RIGHT AFTER Sonadow won 5th place on Tumblr for ship week 2026 and after the Lunar New Year's post of them riding on horses. So, this is an example on how they want complete CONTROL.
Overall, they don't care about anyone else but themselves and don't care if other people get hurt. It also seems they WANT us to get hurt if this podcast is ANYTHING to go by. All of those tactics they did, it hurts and is filled with malice!
I understand the frustration with the whole team thing. She isn't a part of Team Sonic (not even the Sonic Team animation logo when you play games has her), but because of fans and the bias employees, the actresses and movie account above considers her in it while OMITTING SHADOW. I don't know if they realize how insensitive and rude they are being by pushing Shadow out. It hurt many Shadow fans to see them ignore him like so, even if he is the one that made so much money and is popular with Keanu (I even saw several people mention him who aren't officials)! There isn't even a RIP or any acknowledgement, even if he is alive! I don't think I see Idris mention anything, but neither of the MORE PROFESSIONAL ACTORS talked about this reveal either. The human characters are important too, but I think they ignore them due to online "fans" being angry about "too many humans taking up screen time" over the non human ones.
I personally don't think a lot of people AND characters know what "actual love" is and instead, associate it with "lust." That's probably why the way they describe "love" and doing things in the name of "love" makes no sense.
Apparently things like LUST is even more important than MONEY to these guys. I guess since they aren't the ones who have to deal with the losses, they don't fully u derstand or care about that.
Take this post the main Sonic America SNS account retweeted biasly and creepily. They retweeted A GROWN MAN BEING EXCITED FOR AMY. I thought she was for little girls? This man can be excited on his own, but it's weird how he doesn't seem much of an Amy fan from his account, but looking closer, it seems he is "paid with merchandise" by these bias employees, even though he is a "Shadow fan." So it may be scripted or forced to have him fake being excited for her so that they can retweet it, even though he is a Shadow fan. They often do this to influencers and fans. They pay them off some how to get them to promote Amy. Them using a grown man though, is creepy.
I hope I got everything!
Now for the Sonadow question! 😊
Sonic: "Actually, when Shadow is distracted, I go and make some calls to arrange things..." 😳
Shadow: "🥺 He knows everything some how...I don't know how to hide anything from him! ! It must be our hearts..." 💙🖤
Sonic: "Oh! Poor cute Shadow...he doesn't have the ability to show his heart to anyone else but me...."
Shadow: "🥺😳 He knows everything..."
Thank you for the questions!
Hello! You don't know me but I stumbled across this and just had to say something. This whole post reads as wild and unfounded speculation. When dissecting Sonic media I first have to take in account what motivates SEGA to do the things they do as a company. These aren't characters or stories that exist in a vacuum, these are business decisions made to sell a product. With that said, this analysis of the podcast is more a projection of your personal feelings rather than being grounded in reason. Vector's line is a joke about how he doesn't get any games compared to Sonic and Shadow, it's not a poke at Sonadow fans. Seeing as that's your only piece of evidence that proves any of this podcast is directed towards you or has some coded messaging, I'll disregard the rest. Imagine an employee knows more than that and shares it with these bias employees. (In this podcast above, it would be Rouge giving Espio leads, files/information) These bias employees then use this information to form a plan to sabotage anything they don't like. In this case, Sonadowm since they complained about it earlier No company works like this! Especially one as strict as SEGA, and if it did there would be no way the fans would be able to decode these hidden messages since if fans could figure it out, so could other people within the company and everyone involved would be fired. Since again, your only piece of evidence is that Vector diss which is not an actual piece of evidence, most of your following points can be disregarded. It is completely outlandish to accuse people within a company of publicly giving "bias employees" coded messages in order to sabotage a game. Sonic and Shadow are popular characters because they have an interesting dynamic and cool fight scenes, that is what makes money so that is what the Sonic franchise is pushing. Then for your points about Shadow being pushed out of the movie in place of Amy, that is because Shadow "died" in Sonic 3 and if he is coming back...they want it to be a big reveal! Also of COURSE they want to promote the newly featured and popular character. They are not doing this out of disrespect towards Shadow, Keanu Reeves, or any of Shadow's fans. They are doing what makes money. This is how movie marketing works, they promote new, highly anticipated characters. They generate hype. Shadow isn't present because either 1. they want his return to be a big reveal, 2. they want his return to accompany an announcement of his own solo series like Knuckles since he's such a popular character, or 3. He's just not present in this movie because he "died" in the last one, and they want to dedicate their finite amount of screentime to another popular character. Like it or not, Amy is very popular and many people are excited to see her debut in the movie. Finally, the way you talk about fans of Amy is very strange. You attribute any male fan's interest in her to them being lustful, which is just incorrect and insensitive. I'm not saying that it never happens, there are certainly creeps in the fandom. But for you to make such a huge generalization, then to post an innocent example of it (without blurring the OP's name mind you) and cite it as proof of lustful adult male Amy fans...strange! Then for your example, it's not an example! Shadow fans are allowed to like Amy's character? People can like more than one character? Men are even allowed to like female characters completely innocently?? My main issue is you are making such a serious claim without evidence of it, if you are going to call someone creepy you need PROOF they are creepy. Also, considering how the Sonic fandom is KNOWN for having such a large autistic demographic, it is a little weird to immediately sexualize a male fan's interest in a female character. #NotVeryWokeOfYou
