In the AU Tiger exists in, pretty much all three! But the main reason is for survival- humans hold a lot of important things (food, healing items, weapons) and happening across a rebel is a prime opportunity for them. Tiger hates humans, so it's also for "revenge" (because humans aka Adrian Shepard beat their initial invasion) and also an outlet for their frustration for being trapped on a planet they hate with a bunch of aliens they hate.
