a friend and i once wanted a bit of romantic attention, but we were afraid of coming out publicly enough to actively seek out other queer people. so we had a queer platonic relationship with each other instead. we didn’t kiss or anything, but we went on a date and referred to each other as partners. i bought her flowers sometimes. it wasn’t a romantic relationship.

i got made fun of for “appropriating” a gay relationship. i got told to “just call it a friendship, weirdo” and to “stop assigning useless labels to things.” even though that was the label that we were most comfortable with. we decided we wanted to call it that, and that worked for us.

later, i had one single fwb relationship. i got anons calling me a disease-ridden slut. i was told i was a misogynist because “men only want women for sex,” ignoring the fact that i am, in fact, not a man. and also i date people who aren’t women.

people on here will rave about being sex positive, and make posts like “hehe let’s break down the barriers between romantic and platonic relationships!! let gay people be weird with each other!!” but the moment someone actually does it, they become conservative shitheads. i’m sick of it.

i don’t even want a qpr or fwb at this point in my life. i just want a normal ass romantic relationship with someone i can go on regular dates with and kiss and maybe fuck sometimes. i want us to move in together and get married. but i will still fight to the death for qprs and fwbs. i know how shittily they get treated online, even on tumblr, supposedly the “queerest place on earth” or whatever the fuck. i’ll fight for you guys. ilu.
