I was so amazed by his singing during the whole encore. Just a small clip. Two hours into the set, Robert with his unbelievable ageless voice belting out every last note on The Walk.
Here they did the hits and it was a welcome return for me after that break. And things like Last Day of Summer and A Strange Day, ohhhhhhh my heartđ€đ€đ€
Robert sounded fucking insane especially during the encore, he just got better as the show went on.

The reason why this show was very different and special is that it turned on a dime, I had no idea how much of it i would see. i went with my husband and small child. My kid is pretty great and has some experience (was asleep on me in a wrap at a Spiritualized concert at 3 months old) but you never know with kids and loud music. I told her that there is another concert we want to see at the time when she will already want to be asleep, so we will put on her ear muffs and she can go to sleep in the carrier on my back. And there will be noise, but she can just let it help her sleep like a lullaby (see what i did there??) AND SHE DID!!! Snd she stayed asleep through the whole thing!!!! So. Some of those memories.
I knew from the thunder and rain intro that we would get the Alone - Endsong main set bookends, which made me glad. (It was snowing and raining so there was no sun, which I was very happy about.) These songs absolutely deserve to have an esteemed place in their setlist, and when it's their first time playing in a country, it's only right that they should announce themselves as the band that made Songs of a Lost World.
The way Robert sang out a really long note then jerked his head away from the mike in Alone was such a wow moment... there was amazing energy radiating off him the whole show.
Compared to Nova Rock, i was much, much further away from the stage but the audience this time seemed far more engaged, even the people in my area were getting properly pumped up, it all felt like a communal celebration. The Nova Rock crowd had been really inert for some reason, except for the first 10 rows in front of Robert.
Reeves busting it up on A Night Like This really stood out! go for it!!!
Trust was pure love, really feels like a tribute to Perry, but for me it was From the Edge (at Nova especially, but also here) where it suddenly hit me full in the chest with the terrible feeling that he's gone forever :(

Push is the best fucking live song ever, I swear, it's one of those songs that could get any festival goer hyped up even if they've never heard it before
Last Day of Summer is gorgeous and Robert clearly loved singing it
A Strange Day was so so so awesome, the highlight in terms of song choice. The riff of all time.
From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea - instead of "don't let this end, please stay, not just for today" he sang, "don't let this end, please, don't let this end, please, don't let this end, please..." OH. MY. GODDDDDDD. đ

It was really so good to NOT have pop hit encore at Nova Rock, and to have it again here. They should change it up more often.

Hot Hot Hot!!! was pure awesomeness. Before they started, RS said, "I did the setlist, it was really... it was hot, so... ("you're stupid" type look from Simon/Roger) ...I mean, it WAS! Remember?"
It absolutely was not, btw, never higher than 25 degrees with a nice wind the whole day. Afterwards he said, "You'll love that one tomorrow." They got superstitious in Poland after the encore was drenched in a downpour, and now they think Hot Hot Hot!!! and Prayers for Rain can change the weather.
Pretty sure they only play Wrong Number so Reeves has a chance go apeshit on the guitar, but it's actually a really fun song live. People loved Robert going "HELLO? HELLO????"
The vocals on The Walk were OUTSTANDING.
I haven't heard Lovecats in a live set for a long while and again, i prefer it in small doses, much nicer than having it in every set. Robert was really kind of in his own world by this point in the encore, added an extra bunch of gibberish singing (scatting in an alternative universe), he was soooo fired up!
Let's Go To Bed, we meet at last!!!!! It is very good that the show poster had a big black cat on it, and the set had several cat songs.
Friday I'm In Love is actually a perfect song. All the other happy songs in the world wish they were this good. I still wish they had the self-respect to only play it on Fridays but oh... (at Nova i was very proud of them, the concert started on Friday but went past midnight, and they didn't play it.)
i swear to fucking god that during all the pop encores i've seen, i always just forgot that Close To Me (which i own on vinyl in 5 copies) EXISTS. like i'll be thinking to myself, "hm ok, what else can they still play? probly Why Can't I and Boys, right...?" *beep boop beep* "OH SHIT HAHA CLOSE TO ME EXISTS LMAOOOO"
Speaking of Robert being fired up, this was MY FIRST TIME EVER that he didn't just shout "Everything you do...! Everything you do...!" in Why Can't I Be You. He actually sang "Everything you do is simply kissable, everything you do, unmissable"!!!! That's how much he was into it!
Him saying "see you again" at the end... you want to stop within 3 years. what is the truth? when? when? when?

the Cure in 2018 were like YES we promise to play EXACTLY ONE concert the entire year, the one at Hyde Park, it will be EXCLUSIVE. oh except for this other tiny one at Meltdown Festival but sssssh barely anyone will see that anyway. and then it was hehe ok have the entire Meltdown gig on a live album and dvd and bluray ahahaha hee hee

7th anniversary of the Cure show at Colours of Ostrava festival 2019 today (and 57th of the moon landing.)
looking back I feel like I was insane. Just picked this festival to go to because me & bf knew from experience it was a good festival in general, it had the Cure, AND the rest of the lineup for the whole weekend was pretty good too. Florence + the Machine were another headliner, plus, just as an example, there was a whole entire RosalĂa concert right after the Cure's set, and even in that emotional state I was able to take in and appreciate her fantastic show.
So that's not the problem. The problem is that there were OTHER Cure shows nearby that summer, at Zagreb InMusic and Nova Rock, and WHY DIDN'T I GO TO THOSE? WHY??? What was(n't) I thinking? They would've been accessible. WHY. I did have much less money I guess, but... smh at past me.
