A small intro, I suppose

Hello! Thanks for stopping by. This is my sideblog where I keep things like art of my gods and bits of advice that I find helpful in my practices. I don't currently have a tagging system, sorry! Maybe in the future, but mobile tends not to like when I add tags to things.

A bit about me...

I'm pretty new to Hellenic Polytheism! And I'm always open to learning more about it, whether it be myths or practices. My main deities at the moment are Apollo, Athena and Hermes but Zeus, Ares, and Prometheus seem to be finding their ways into my personal pantheon lately.

I'm an artist and a writer and have been for most of my life. I'm not published yet, but I do hope to be someday. I've also been reading tarot for quite some time, and I've always felt very comfortable with it. Only recently did I discover it was Apollo guiding and possibly speaking to me through the cards, which has turned out to be a very nice surprise. I do practice some magic, though I'm far less versed in that than in my readings. Trying to learn, as always!

All that being said, please feel free to stop in and chat! My inbox and DMs are both open to anyone, and I'd even be happy to do a tarot reading for anyone who would like one :p

VENT POST

Sorry to put this here, I'd rather not put this on blast for my main blog. I typically don't do this but the feelings are eating at me, this is NOT related to the gods or anything else on my blog, sorry. Tws for physical assault of a minor and police activity (I hate cops, we had no choice but to involve them here and it sucks)

I took my partner to a funfair this weekend and it was great. He just moved to the area last year so it was nice to do something local and fun and the rides were good and the food was good and it was just all around a great time.

Until a teenager got jumped in the parking lot. In front of us. I'd seen this girl walking around, she was wearing an Offspring t-shirt and that stood out to me. But we were just on the way to the car and she just... got ran up on. My partner is so angry with himself because he was close enough to grab the person who jumped her and he hesitated. It's not his fault, we were shocked. It took everyone by surprise. I told him that. We're both still furious. My partner called the cops as soon as it happened, we stayed with her and filled out a statement. This poor kid was just hysterical.

Everyone was lucky. She wasn't badly hurt, just very, very scared and a little bruised. I'm almost positive things would have been so much worse if we weren't right there. If we had gone on one more ride, stopped to get one more snack, one more drink, anything, we would've been too late to help as much. This poor kid is 16 and disabled, and was scared of having to miss work the next morning, and I'm just so fucking furious. I cannot fathom what this poor kid did to warrant that reaction. She was so sweet to us when she calmed down, she'd left school because of bullying, and just.... my heart breaks for her so bad.

She asked to hug my partner once things settled, and she told me she trusted me because she saw the pride pins on my denim vest, and the fact that I was carrying my cane. As a queer punk, that really made me feel like I did something right, at least.

I'm still pretty upset. I'm tearing up writing this. This weekend was such a weird mix of good and bad. I think doing that, sitting with this kid who just got assaulted and talking to the cops about it, was one of the most Adult things I've ever done. And I have an apartment lease.

I really do hope the folks we left her with looked after her.
