Six months ago today, I was in Florida meeting up with a guy for the first time I had just started talking to, for what I thought was going to be a fun little one time thing. I flew to Florida, watched his show, and went to the after party where we agreed to meet up, and this guy didn’t even have the nerve to come get me himself-.. but sent his friend to come usher me through towards the little VIP area they had set up for him and his crew. I still don’t think his best friend, Tony, will ever forget the glare I gave him, but quickly after that I made my way towards that small little area. There, I was introduced to this handsome, easy-going, drunk, fun-loving guy, and I walked right up to him and gave him a piece of my mind for sending one of his ‘posse’ to get my attention instead of getting off his ass and getting me himself. I slapped him in the face, and walked out of the room, snatching a bottle of whiskey before I left. This was the first time I ever met Gerald.
It’s not surprise that Gerald and I aren’t picture perfect people, and it’s not even a surprise that together all the moves we make aren’t always perfect, but ever since that night in Florida, my life hasn’t been the same. He’s brought me out of my shell in ways I didn’t know I needed, and he’s genuinely been my rock through so much that has gone on. He holds my hand through that shit moments, and calls me out when I need it, he listens when I tell him he’s being an idiot, and when we’re done screaming and fighting and arguing, I know he’s always got a hug somewhere in there for me still. My life has changed so drastically since this man walked into my life, in some of the healthiest ways it could ever. He constantly motivates me to make positive changes for my own benefit, constantly pushing me and my independence in ways that no one has truly ever pushed me before-.. something I’ve truly needed in my life.
Babe, I know you probably have a big dumb grin on your face and you’re rolling your eyes, ‘oh she wrote a big dumb corny letter, how Arielle’. We keep talking lately about, how has it already been this long? Has it really been this long? It’s amazing, and wild, and crazy, all in one, and I suppose, I don’t know-.. I just want to write you a little something and recognize that, I love you. I love you so entirely much, and I’m so happy for that night in Tampa, as ridiculous and drunken as it was.. it may just have been one of the best nights of my life so far. So, you’ve suffered through six months of me in your life, let’s see what else you got, boy. I loooove you. 💘
