Is Gas Water Heater Maintenance A Must?
I woke up to discover that there’s no hot water. It was 5 AM and it was so damn cold. The water from the faucet (and the shower) was freezing! My problem was that I needed to take a quick shower and go to work earlier because of a meeting with one of our clients. I just couldn’t have a cold shower because that would have aggravated my back pain. Needless to say, I had to boil a kettle of hot water! It was not really such a big deal. It’s just that I’m not used to such a hassle in the morning.
Anyway, the following day, I had to call plumbers in Denver to have my gas water heater checked. I didn’t know what the problem was and I’m not really a DIY kind of guy so the wise solution was to call a professional.
In just a matter of 30 minutes, the plumbers were both at my doorstep. Thank God! I really hate it when professional service providers make me wait. What they told me was that the water heater needed flushing. Because I haven’t drained it for such a long time, sediments accumulated inside the tank and negatively affected the heating efficiency of the system.
Aha! So it looks like, gas water heater maintenance is a must! I asked them, “Man, should i drain my water heater every week?” And they told me, it’s not really required weekly but I should watch out for symptoms like the presence of rumbling sounds coming from the tank. That was another “Aha!” moment for me! I’ve been hearing a lot of noise from the basement and I didn’t even know it was my water heater!
So I guess, my advice to you dear friends is to flush your water heater at least every 3 months especially if it’s already making a lot of noise. Now if you’re not sure how to do it properly, call your trusted plumber in Denver! That’s the best route to take!
