There’s a lot to love about Detroit Become Human, but the game also makes some questionable choices.

What particularly ticks me off are these:

- Kara being reduced to the caretaker role. “Maybe forgetting who we are and becoming what someone else needs is the true meaning of being alive.” Luther says to her and it really bothers me because that’s unhealthy as hell. It also implies that “real” mothers want little girls that never grow up to take care of and that’s also unhealthy as hell.

- Markus’ and North’ “love” story. I play a peaceful Markus which means North has pretty much never approved of anything I ever did and yet she and Markus became lovers after talking like twice. And I didn’t even get any choice in it. It sucked and I hated everything about that.

- some of the social side blows are just too on the nose - or tone deaf. I’m not even sure if Luther’s model being a big strong black man as a “labour android” was supposed to be ironic or not.

- Josh’ personality is all over the place. He’s supposed to be the peace loving one, but he also encourages Markus to stand his ground, then complains about it and says they should have just laid low.

- some of Markus’ lines make no sense, like in the captain’s suite when he chooses “dialogue”, then in the next sentence declares that humans always killed each other for petty reasons and are incapable of change. He also has a lot of lines that are incongruent with a peaceful playthrough.
