Made me smile.
I was having a pretty average day, a series of little things had tipped me over the edge and my uncoordinatedness had lead me to fall over 3 times. So after school my Mum said she’d get me a salad roll (Jenny’s Hot Bread anyone? OMG SO GOOD) We were in the hot bread shop and we were paying for our rolls right on closing time and they lady runs in all frazzled and asks the shop owner if it was too late to get a roll. Jenny, the owner, despite her fatigue, said it wasn’t and the lady was over the moon, exclaimed “aren’t they just the best rolls you’ve ever had? So juicy!” I agreed and we we laughing away. I then gave Jenny my $6.70 and thanked her for our rolls and the lady exclaimed something along the lines of: “Oh well I can just tell you are lovely” her enthusiasm increased “yes, yes I can just see that you have a gorgeous soul, I can just feel it in your presence” “Isn’t she amazing” she asked to my mum, my mum agreed <3 I was giggling because well it was the cutest and kindest thing i have ever been told from a stranger. “I’m no phschic but I have been alive for a very long time.” I kept giggling as we were about to walk out of the shop. The lady said one last thing “Everyone always is negatively talking about “this generation” and it really frustrates me. Kids like you, you’re our hope.” She then raised her hand into a fist and said “Go get ‘um girl!”
On June 27th something promising happened which gave me a little more hope for the LGBTQIA community. On June 27th the United States legalised gay marriage. On June 27th America recognised that we are all equal. On June 27th I was hopeful that one day I may be able to marry the person I love if I so desire. One day people won't feel the social pressure to “come out of the closet” and the world will realise that you love a person, not their gender. One day it won’t have to be called gay marriage. It will just be marriage. One day the world will realise that everyone has the right to love and be loved. One day we will be all equal. sign the petition: https://www.getup.org.au/campaigns/marriage-equality/petition/sign-and-share
