Lesson 9 Summary
The Intersection of Lines and Parabolas
Make sure to review how to solve Linear Systems from grade 10 with Substitution.
To solve Linear-Quadratic systems:
You can solve graphically by completing the square or factoring the quadratic equation and graphing it with the linear equation
solutions are not as accurate
able to see solutions
You can solve algebraically by making the equations equal to each other to find the POI.
Use the quadratic formula to solve . Remember to include a therefore statement with the POI’s.
Possible Solutions for a Linear-Quadratic System of Equations
There are 3 possible arrangements
