For my fellow 🏋️♂️ friends from the US:
In October, retail lobbyists demanded that Congress expand the prosecution and policing of shoplifting, making it easier to charge theft as
This article talks about how (unsurprisingly) 🏋️♂️ers have been scapegoated as well as mentioning a few states that plan to pass a few related laws (below is a preview of some of the text)
this isnt a dna story but rather some advice- i dont have my own blog, hope this is ok to submit!
business owners call dnas "friendly fraud." if you google it you'll see how stores try to prevent dnas through softwares that crosscheck your name, billing/shipping address, age of email address, etc. check through reddit for ecommerce owners dealing with chargebacks.
here's a list of protective measures:
1. IDENTITY: use a burner phone number and a dedicated dna email for online shopping accounts. make sure your fake name lines up across these different pieces of "digital id".
2. ONLINE PROTECTION: always block cookies/trackers, i use ublock origin. always use a vpn and a proxy. riseup.net is a good free vpn, i like tor as my browser.
3. PAYMENTS: never use your personal payment method, over time it can get flagged. too many refunds will look sus on paypal, and it could plausibly damage your credit score. use a virtual credit card (ex. koho [canada], privacy [usa], revolut [uk]).
if you are someone that has done multiple dnas, it is VERY LIKELY that your email/ip is implicated in a fraud prevention software database. multiple companies use the same softwares, this is why your orders get cancelled sometimes. change your id often!
dnas may be easy but remember it is fraud which is a crime! act accordingly!
thank you so much to whoever took the time to share these amazing tips. if you have a liftblr, please message me privately so i can give you credit!
excellent advice for newbie and seasoned DNAers.
NEVER leave packaging behind
there was a local news item of a girlypop stealing makeup worth 1000s of €uros from this place i've, too, frequented (it's very cushy)
why was she arrested? she dumped all the packages & security tags in the changing room🤦🏼♀️
I think women shouldn't be prosecuted for shoplifting
If you say so 🤷🏻♀️
The haul I didn’t post from a couple weeks ago- part one. I accidentally lifted a top with a stain which was really Fing annoying, but whatever, here it is:
I left out some brands for privacy reasons.
- Ramy Brook silk top, Rails sweater- $600
- silk skirts and cami- $1,450
- leather wallet, leather belt, cocktail ring, washi tape- $505
- blue sparkly floral top and Alice and Olivia silk shirt- $600
- black and boho Ulla Johnson tops- $880
- makeup- $781
- Staud skirt, Ulla Johnson cardigan- $850
- pink lace top, Alice and Olivia shirt, cinq à sept shirt- $970
- Ulla Johnson skirt, Johnathan Simkai dress- $680
- Ramy Brook floral top, stained silk frame shirt (😠)- $770
Part 2/2:
- Ulla Johnson tops- $870
- L’Agence shirt- $560
- Ulla Johnson blue floral top, rag and bone cardigan- $900
- silk dress- $590
This is not the whole haul, but it’s the important part and it’s most of it.
And the total:
$11,006
What a fun day of roleplaying!
Ok so I don’t think I’ve seen my strategy on here before? But I figure I’ll share, it might help some of you guys out. Basically what I do is I put on the ol’ compression leggings under sweatpants and then I tuck my shirt in. Then I put on my nice oversized wool sweater (leaving the bottom two buttons unbuttoned to allow for even more room) and I put my hair into a ponytail. Then I slip stuff into my sleeve and drop it into the back of my shirt while I pretend to be adjusting my ponytail. Hasn’t failed me yet, hope it helps!
some classic tips taken from an account that interacts with people outside of the 🏋️ rp community
confidence is key.
act normal.
the less suspicious you look the less suspiciously they're likely to treat you.
employee entrances and exits into the back rarely have cameras, making them great places to stash if you can avoid the employees.
don't look at cameras directly.
carry things until you can't hold them all, pretend to be frustrated, then stick your shit in your bag to help you carry it.
if you do get caught, say you were overwhelmed and have an anxiety disorder, and simply 'forgot'. apologize profusely, and offer to pay for the items.
toilet paper and paper towel roll isles are safe havens.
watch out for plainsclothes lp. they are obvious if you know what to look for - really cartoonishly normal looking dudes wearing obvious wires, wandering around on their own without baskets or carts.
if you plan to just walk out with a large basket, it's best to do it somewhere large, with more than one customer exit.
if you don't have a cart, bring a reusable shopping bag, and just stick shit in there. you don't have to be sneaky about this, because if anyone notices you can just say you didn't have the hands for all your items, and you were going to pay for it all when you arrived at checkout.
if you genuinely get overwhelmed, just walk out quickly - someone stops you? you are overwhelmed and overstimulated, even better if you have headphones that are on. It is really unlikely anyone will touch you, and if they do, flinch. Better if you tear up. ymmv
If an employee speaks to you, be kind. If they hand you a basket, hold it the same way you do your stash-bag, and put things you don't want in your basket, and things you do want in your bag. leave the basket near the exit, and walk out.
if you have a bag from a store in a mall that is also in another mall you can bring that shopping bag with something small in it, and carry that around to make it seem like you've already spent money.
most staff don't get paid enough to care all that much what you do. don't be a nuisance and don't bother them and they probably won't gaf.
if you are carrying a phone or waterbottle, put your items in the hand holding the object, then put them both in the bag at the same time. study slight of hand tricks. you don't have to be really good, just smooth.

🧬 tip that’s been helpful in case anyone hasn’t done this:
go on a company’s trustpilot and search “miśsing” or “parcel” in the search bar.
this will let you know how the company responds to actual missing parcels - like whether they only reship or offer a refund too.
this is especially helpful for company’s that aren’t talked about much on tumblr/no one else has done.
this is so smart omg
