Long ago, another company tried to control global connectivity—it had an unhappy ending
“The company adopted the motto: Deus Indicat. Deo Ducente Nil Nocet. It translates as “God is our leader. When God leads, nothing can harm.”
When you consider all the brutal, terrible things this company did, you ‘re dumbfounded that they dared adopt that slogan—much like the “Don’t Be Evil” that once served as Google’s motto”
I’ve been shopping for a new (or new old) social media home that isn’t TikTok Twitter or meta-related, and im self aware ish enough to know it’s a stupid nearly Sisyphean endeavor. because I’m fruitlessly hunting for like a Goldilocks level of attention capturing that’s just not possible, I want to be entertained to the same level but freer to stop scrolling, I want a perfect balance of “could scroll forever, but don’t waaaaant to because I’m not addicted” I want a different-same relationship to my phone. Literally what are you doing here, Grace.
Anyway, maybe it’s Pinterest.
my 2025 reading goal of reading more plays is well underway (from Emma: “perfect one sitting reading, do an act have a snack and read act 2”)
LOVED reading these two together, really REALLY made me think about how uncritically reading (or seeing) a story about how a group of young women were liars might hit different post Me Too.
The Crucible is a classic for a reason, John Proctor is interesting because he IS flawed and had made mistakes. Allegories for McCarthyism are of course extremely meaningful in 2025 — but man, John Proctor is The Villain did a masterful job complicating that story further. Abigail forever. It was funny, it was biting, had just extremely lovely teen girl solidarity, made me nostalgic for my fledgling first steps as a young bad feminist. I thought Belflower wrote excellent contemporary teenage girl dialogue that was able to reference Beyonce and Taylor Swift and not make me cringe.
“Did this book make me cry?” Is a metric I’m tracking this year — and only one of these stories managed that for me. Turn on Green Light by Lorde, read “John Proctor is the Villain” and then dance in the woods so hard and so wildly you accidentally do an exorcism.
Give me a face you could love
Some portraits I did from my FAVORITE books, the Farseer series by Robin Hobb
Rereading it again and I just couldn't resist :D
I haven’t actively used my tumblr regularly in 10 years, be kind

when hulu decides to bring back veronica mars
“Actually, if you have a problem with Sammy, you’re pretty much dead to me. So just like, evaporate or something, I don’t know.”
— Ben Arnold
I didn’t know I have been waiting my whole life for a Veronica Mars-King Falls moment. But I have. And here we are.
Nobody looked up not once the day Angel Vargas learned to fly and dropped from the sky like a sugar donut, just like a falling star, and exploded down to earth without even an “Oh.” You can never have two much sky. You can fall asleep and wake up drunk on the sky, and sky can keep you safe when you are sad. Here there is too much sadness and not enough sky. Butterflies are few and so are flowers and most things that are beautiful. Still. We take what we can get and make the best of it. You all see that cloud, that fat one there? See that? Where? That one next to the one that looks like popcorn. That one there. See that. That’s God, Darius said. God? Somebody little asked. God, he said, and made it simple.
